Dear friends, my car (Toyota 121) has a persistent “daka daka” sound coming from the rack. Rack ends, CV joints and all others are fine. The rack was replaced 2 yrs ago but then the issue re-appeared recently. M..t..r.. garage told me to replace the entire rack again, whereas another mechanic suggested to apply grease adjust the rack since it was fixed only 2 years ago. The latter is cost effective though I doubt its sustenance. (yes.. combed thr AutoLanka forum!). I also feel that I was caught to a bad rack last time, but the selection and fixing of the reconditioned rack was entirely handled by a garage as I am not that familiar with the subject. My bad. Now that fixing a new rack is looming again, I wonder how I could select a proper reconditioned rack and where to look for it. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
