  1. A friend who owned a QP11, 1800CC, Auto claimed that it does around 7 in town. Some time back he used high octane fuel That was a very powerful car with great road holding. I personally have done the Waters Edge round about at around 90 kmph :-) I was told by two mechanics, not go for this. I really don't know why... 1. Lahiru (Opposite David Peiris showroom) 2. Lal Allawatte
  2. This is how I see this: Even though Sri Lanka has a crazy demand following is my opinion: Mazda 323 or Familia: You can get a relatively a new car, probably J numbers for around 1.3. It's a very reliable car Honda EK3: Its a very reliable car and in my opinion less maintenance than ES series. You can get a 1998 G series for 1.3 Corolla 110: Its not sporty looking but is very reliable. G registration 1998 for 1.3 is an option. Very low in maintenance If you are married with kids, a Wagon is also an option. Nissan, I don't quite recommend
  3. What do you think the ROUGH price point difference between the Std and G, say for a 2004? I know its very subjective yet a ballpark is what I am looking at.
  4. That's what I gathered Harsha. May be the lowest grade... Still trying to understand the G business. However, you are right.. I see many ads for 2005 between 3.9 and 4.2 too.
  5. Thanks for all the feedback, Appreciate it! Cheers....
  6. I posted two queries under Toyota and Mazda sections and appreciate some feedback on this. I have bumped into a few who are seeking clarity on the same topic and hope we can have a constructive dialog on the two posts. Thanks in advance for all the constructive contributors. We can position Sri Lanka as a dignified country (way to go...., at least AutoLanka community can set an example) by not making these dialogs flooded with junk. http://forum.autolanka.com/index.php?showtopic=9011 http://forum.autolanka.com/index.php?showtopic=9010
  7. I am debating whether I am going for a Axela or Axio unregistered or a registered Allion. However I still don't get the right picture of the Allion and would really appreciate if someone can shed some light on the following: -What's A15 and A18. Is this the engine capacity? -What's NTZ240 and NTZ 260. Is this the model where NTZ260 has more space etc. -What are the different grades and the differences. I think you have G, G Grade, G Package, G Limited, G 60th Anniversary etc. Also ballpark market prices are highly appreciated. So far I have gathered the following: - HH registration 2002 Allion is going for around 3.3M - KF registration 2004 Allion is going for around 3.5M - KI registration 2005 Allion is going for around 3.65M Generally they have alloys, full options and you get in Silver, Blue, Beige or Black colors, on the clock around 50-80K Are the above prices reasonable.
  8. I am debating on the car I should buy after the duties were slashed down. I am more keen on buying the Mazda3/Axela as it has the look that I want (Sporty) and is within my budget. Yet I have the following concerns over Toyota Axio (Its flooded and hence I don't like it) or Honda Civic (2007 model is above my budget and I love the 1.3 hybrid but Stafford valuations are way high over the actuals). - Who are the reliable mechanics for Mazda's in Battaramulla area. I generally have been to Lal Allawatte (not very pleased) as well as Lahiru (place in front of David Peiris showroom) yet they are not specialized on Mazda's - I was told that the rear suspensions are around 60K which is very expensive. Please clarify - Are the general maintenance costs much more higher than a Toyota.. as in twice as much or so Feedback is highly appreciated. I also like to share my findings so far on the prices.. Axela 2007 it seems I can get for around 3.6M which has done around 22K, Silver, Auto, Multi-func steering, etc. Honda Civic 2007 with full options for around 5M (silver or beige) Axio X grade for around 4.3M 2007 with very low on the clock (silver or dark blue) Are the above reasonable and please suggest of any alternatives
