  1. Hi, Something weird has happened to our Swift 2007. One of my cousins was trying to take something out of the car and was fudging around with the remote key to get it unlocked. She managed to unlock after several mins. A few hours later when I tried to go somewhere the car would nt start. It would crank up but the engine wouldnt start up. I could see an orange "padlock on a car" indicator flashing on the dashboard suggesting that the engine was locked! I figured the Immobilizer would have kicked in for some reason due to my cousin messing around with the remote key. Now Im stuck while this Engine / Car lock (Padlock) indicator flashing when I try to crank up and the engine just wont start. Here s the weird part. I have a plain spare key which does not have the remote keyless entry buttons. And when I use this key the car starts with no issues. Initial assumption is that the remote key has some sort of sensor RFID which is not allowing the engine to start and the Padlock / Car Lock indicator keeps flashing! While it starts with the normal key since it has no sensor or RFID. Any suggestions as to how I can disarm the immobilizer and get the car started with the original remote key? P.S - This key only has the lock and unlock buttons and no immobilizer or any other button for that matter. Thanks, V.
  2. Exactly what I was implying. Good to get it confirmed. Our Vios is much more quite, definitely due to the larger engine and better noise shielding I suppose. Anyone can shed some light on the CVT gearbox on this model, does it have a CVT? And only agents can get the it replaced due to it's sealed type make.
  3. What I meant was the noise is MORE audible in this hatchback in comparison to other similar cars or family compact sedans.
  4. Thanks guys for shedding some light into this. Heard the 1300CC SCP90 Vitz does not have this loud a noise, must be a 4 cylinder engine. Also can someone confirm if the 1000CC engine has VVTi? Or is it only on the 1300CC I was not able to get proper confirmation from wikepedia. Also I'm guessing the gearbox on this is a CVT? That's what the station told me and that it is sealed and the oil can only be changed at the agents, but the change is not required for a couple of years. Any truth to this?
  5. I wouldn't know the RPM because the Vitz does not have a RPM meter. But from what I can guess it should be between 1 and 2. Is you corolla a 121?
  6. Hi, We just got our selves a Recon Vitz 1000CC (KSP90) 2007. Got it serviced and checked up a few days back before putting it on the road. What is irritating is the loud engine sound. The engine basically roars when the gas pedal is put down, sounds somewhat similar to a diesel engine but not that loud. Pickup seems to be good but am uncomfortable with the somewhat audible engine roar when accelerating. Would like to know from other owners of the 2007/2008 1000CC Vitz if this was normal. A friend of ours having the same car says its the same with his, and the service station also agrees that it seems to be the norm on the 1000CC vitz. Quite appalling if this is the case, because the roaring sound is irritating sometimes. Can other owners confirm or comment on the same? Any way to reduce the sound or suggestions for checking or fixing it? Thnks, V.
  7. Thanks Jdnet, SeanD, and BigD for your input. Helps a lot. I think ill try pushing the car down and see how it responds like you guys mentioned. Ill also get the suspension bushes checked. RE: Silencer Leak, Im not too sure about experimenting the way jdnet mentioned and filling my lungs up with smoke. Ill keep a close ear while raising it and see. There seems to be a slight noise though.
  8. Hi, This is my first post hence I must say that the information available on this forum is just great and big thanks to all the contributors who are making us novices knowledgeable on cars through their experience. Ive got a VIOS recently, which seems to be having a weird thud sound/noise coming form the rear end when the car goes over a pot hole at a speed. If its moving slow and goes over a pothole there s no sound as such. I gave it for full service, tune up and checkup at a known service station and garage. They checked it out by driving and hoisting it up and said there seems to be no issue with anything. Took it to another garage and the baas after driving said the rear shocks needed replacement. Replacing the shocks seems to be the logical conclusion but I just wanted some expert opinion on this. Also the previous owner stated there was a Silencer leak and I need to fix it. The garage did not come up with issue after checking. How do I check if the there is a silencer leak or not? Thanks in advance for your input.
