  1. Checked out A5 and it is 9.2M for a permit from the agent with 2yr warranty. It is 15cm short and 2cm thin compared to Accord. The agent suggests that depreciation of 2M in 3years from full duty paid price assuming current duty schedule.
  2. Audi A5 is 13.8M upwards from agent. Didnt checked it yet by visiting showroom. But will do soon enough. I looked at CLA from a car sale, not agent and it was 9M for permit too.
  3. Mazda 3 sedan from colonial is 1.5l and says it is from Japan. But japan mazda site has only hatch backs and no 1.5l too. So agent getting special mazda 3 sedan from japan? The details given to me by agent says county of origin as japan. Also the 3 has 165mm ground clearance, which seems to be excellent. My current ce110 has only about 150mm and every now and then It tastes ground. What is not sure for me is whether it actually has 150mm as i changed shock absorbers about 7 years ago. It is tempting to forget about resale value and go for accord to experience that once in life, but now noticed ground clearance is only about 140mm and car is much wider too.
  4. I got attached one. Thay gave me an old print since I was in a hurry. But everything is accurate except for the date.
  5. Attached all details I received. Hope this is not against the rules here.
  6. I checked with colonial motors about mazda 3 sedan 1.5l 2019 and their price CIF is 1.82m JPY. From japan honda website, Honda Civic sedan 1.5t costs little over 3.1m JPY with honda sensing option. Does this mean Im loosing a lot if I go for Mazda 3 sedan? Many recommend mazda for driving fun. Mazda 3 doesn't seem to have paddle shift and Honda seems to have more advanced cruse control. Also honda seems to offer much more power.
  7. Yes They go bad and thanks for advice too. This is one of the reasons I want to buy brand new, not from an auction. Atleast I can make sure that everything works as intended. I also noticed that the things getting bigger and your comment encourage me to look at bigger options. So I decided to seriously look at Civic 1.5, Accord, A5 and CLA. Provided that I do timely maintenance, ride ~8000km/yr but not located near sea, do not wash the ride a lot ( once in ~6wks ), how many years I can realistically expect from tech of above cars. I have no experience about that. So any idea would be appreciated. I checked the stafford for accord and price is 9M+Permit. But the car is made in Thailand. Stafford says it is same quality as JDM but born in Thailand. Can this become problem after 3 years (or 5years max). Specially I cant afford to buy a car worh 12.6m and sell it for less than 8.5M in 3 years.
  8. Sedans seems elegant to me. Dont like hatch back or suvs. Im almost 6ft and if I fit in comfortably rest of space is manageable as this is 75% solo ride. Fuel figures doesnt matter. 7km/l is enough. Sporty and tech is what im after. I want compact sedan because it makes easy to park legally on side of roads without bothering others when necessary. Im happy to walk half a mile so that I can legally park.
  9. Thanks. And thanka a lot to taking time to write such detaild answer. This clarify many things I was looking into and did not knew
  10. If I visit japan, does auction companies let me personally inspect vehicles? Maybe I can meet some of my friends and find a car too when it is time. If it is 1m JPY less, this is well worth. If I personally visit, lets say 3wks, do you think I can find good car there?
  11. Thanks. That is new info for me. Any auction site I can check? I checked brand new prices from honda japan and price is around 3.2mJPY with some options like honda sensing included. Is there anyway to verify mileage from an auction car and To make sure not an accident repaired car? Ive been in Japan for some time and didnt notice people changing cars after little run like ~10K kms.
  12. I went to and did talked to stafford. They told me realistic chance of getting civic is less as they want to move more accords. Also they told me something about their quota and utilizing it for accords only as of now.
  13. I checked out accord. It has all features I want. But car is too big. Almost 2ft longer than current one and more than 6inch extra wide. Also depreciation might be higher than what I can afford in first 3 years or 5years max. Civic 1.5 sedan seems to be good. How much will it cost in sl for permit? Did not see it in any car sale or at stafford.
  14. Mazda 6 2.5l was initial dream. I waited with CE110 for that. Not possible now thanks to (most probably) central bank heist planned and executed by the PM and his MPs.
  15. Hi, Im planning to upgrade from CE110 for a 3.6M permit. Im looking for a sedan and budget is 8M+Permit. (if I have realy good option I can get loan over this too) I like sporty option with paddle shifters and modern tech, non hybrid and brandnew. I like compact sedan or close match to my current car. Being a government employee I cant afford large depreciation. Up to 10% depreciation per year is ok from full market value of car. Im planning to sell this in 3 years for our next permit. Since Im from Galle, ability to service and maintain from around galle would be great. Any suggestions are welcome.

  17. Thsnks for answer. But many people trying to tell me Mazda is better compared to Toyota as a car. But my question is not that. I'm not comparing Mazda to Toyota. Rather comparing how would be 2yr old Mazda and new Toyota in maintenance and what issues to expect in next 3yrs from 2yr old mazda compared to new Toyota.
  18. It was only 7.2M for a permit in 2016. Anyway, I bless our prime minister and pack of ministers and Yahapalanaya for that.
  19. Any idea about brand new import price of Mazda 6 for a permit?
  20. I saw several of 2016 cars for around 7Mil mark in local classifieds. Are you talking about brand new price? Thanks. Any recommendations to check used Mazda properly?
  21. Hi, I'm looking to upgrade my car and expecting vehicle permit (3.6M) soon. Compared to new 2019 Premio, how would be a 2~3 year used Mazda 6 2016 or above will stay trouble free for 3~4 years? I'm trying to find out what car problems I could possibly face due to using 2~3-year-old Mazda (compared to 2019 Premio) and What additional maintenance I might have to do other than regular services. I'm planning to keep this car for ~3 years until the next permit arrives. Is there any way to thoroughly check the condition of Mazda 6 2016 and above. (So that if/when I buy I wont get any hidden error codes in a month etc.) Expecting to use this car for about 20,000km/year. my budget is about 6.5M+permit value. Thanks in advance.

  23. No I did not notice any speed difference. It was always ~160MB per hour for the past 2 weeks when I used connection.
  24. Yes. For last 3years it was only for skype. Before that skype and some weekend use. Never used beyond 40GB. But now the devil is at home finally! I did calculation too and you are right. But for my usage pattern, 512kbps unmetered line is better. When I measured, I had about ~160MB up+down every hour.
  25. Thanks all for your comments. Following are things I have done and results up to now. I complained to SLT support. The lady said they cannot give me a complaint number because there is no problem with connection. I insisted that I'm not getting what I'm paid for and asked for a complaint number and got one after some arguments. Also, the lady told me to call the local SLT office and I did. The guy from the local office said he lifted speed limit for now (after talking to his superiors), but it might automatically apply soon. When I asked about the legal situation, he told me to contact TRC. He also told me that his directors say TRC approved limiting old connections. Then I contacted TRC. After several forwards, I reached Mr. Nishantha Palihawadana (011-2682573, The officer who approve tariffs as TRC told me) from TRC and he CLEARLY told me that they have NOT approved to change anything in old connections. The limits are approved only for newly approved packages. Except for the call center lady, all other people I talked about this matter are nice and easy to talk to. Since I have some time for fun now, I intend to follow this matter to see where it leads me.
