  1. Really coming togather now!
  2. Coming together now. Engine is a somewhat 'snug' fit, but its working out ok!
  3. Well were getting there now and it's beginning to take shape.
  4. That is a nice looking one. Still on its original chassis. Still like Lakshans better!
  5. I study the pictures you sent me of your build nearly everyday! Completely obsessed with it right now. Unfortunately I don't have the budget you had and also I'm not aiming for a pristine motor - the plan is to keep it looking 'Weathered'! I have decided on a primer grey colour for the body and totally black chassis. I love yours though, it's got a real awesome and individual look to it.
  6. So... Chassis is where I want it. It's getting welded on permanent tomorrow, with the lift kit and the new wheels its sitting a lot higher than expected so I think im going to fit some cranked trailing arms to take the stress off the rear bushes. Still waiting for the a new rear crossmember to arrive as the existing one has a huge hole which would be to much fuss to repair. More to come soon!
  7. Hello! Well I have been pretty busy but today me and a friend finally fitted the engine and new suspension. The top chassis will hopefully be partly ready for levelling up on the 110 chassis and then we can get it welded in soon!
  8. Hi Lakshan, I'm using 300tdi axles and running gear. Unfortunately the ENV's are staying on the original leaf-sprung chassis. The gear ratios would never match up to the 300tdi tranfer gears. Unlike normal series axles you can easily change the ratios using Range Rover diffs, but ENV's are in a world of there own... When its finished it will basically be a 110 300tdi Auto with a 2B body. did you use normal 110 axles and Salisbury rear axle? Regards Mike.
  9. Well. Shes stripped now and most of the usable parts have been removed. I'm going to drop the 3ootdi engine and auto box into the 110 chassis (under tarp) and wait for the new top chassi to arrive and then the rebuild can commence. More pictures to come!
  10. If you have not used lo4 for a while the selector maybe seized. You will have to try and get some oil on the selector and give it a wiggle or knock it by hand. But that is only going to work if it is seized from lack of use. Cheers Mike.
  11. Only just thought... it is going to be fun trying to drag a loaded engine crane across the stone driveway! Just thought to add, this is my old 2b fc which I had to sell when work was at a low point. oh and my old 110! This was a 1967 2.25 diesel. It had a custom aluminium hydraulic dropside tipper on the back. Awesome machine!
  12. I have stripped the bulkhead down ready to cut the old rusty footwells out. I will then weld in the new footwells whilst the bulkhead is still on the chassis so that there will be no twisting whilst welding. More pics to come soon! So far, my new suspension kit has arrived +2" with heavy duty springs and also the engine and gearbox will be here on monday. I'm trying to keep the costs down as much as possible now the main items have been bought. It is all hard work from here on!
  13. The 110 has a steel guard in the back, they could break in but it makes it harder?... I have just sold the 110 to fund the 2b rebuild so thats gone now... Lakshank: The vehicle came from Cumbria and I live right next to Manchester Airport. Yes your vehicle has given me inspiration to make an old unpractical 2B into a retro classsic which performs like a defender! Will post photos up soon. Cheers Mike.
  14. Hi Lakshank. I will post photos as I go. My 110 300tdi rolling chassis has arrived! I am going to fit a 300tdi engine and Auto gearbox. I will then start to transfer the top chassis from the 2B onto the new chassis and then start building it up. I'm very excited! Speak soon, Mike.
  15. Hi Lakshank, I have a 300tdi 110 chassis for the rebuild. I just need to find the engine. The pictures I have received are fantastic! Thanks. How come you did not bother to use the original top/sub chassis off the original 2B? Mike.
  16. I will have an ask around for you mate. thanks for the welcome! Mike.
  17. Hello! Thanks for your comments. With regards to the rear crossmember, did you modify it - raise it up so that you did not have the gap with the back plate that would have sat on the top of the crossmember? More than anything I would like to see your cab set-up and also have you have worked the linkages for the gear box. Look forward to your pics! All the best, Mike.
  18. Hi everybody. The rollers at the back are for a centre mounted winch. The mantec grills on the 3rd row windows are for putting off any thieves who may fancy stealing my tools! (and they look cool)!! The plan is to convert to a 300tdi 110 chassis and running gear and possibly a Nissan SD33 engine and box or a 300tdi engine and box?? We'll have to see where we get to!
  19. PM sent Al. Cheers Mike.
  20. Hi. Like I said, I am NOT a dealer. But I would be happy to help in getting parts across to people. I have many friends who break land rovers and have lots of bits, obviously it would be away from the forum to comply with the rules. Any Landy lover is a friend of mine! All the best, Mike.
  21. That is a very rare tacr-2 range rover. Wonderful machine. Would have been 3.5l originally. That front hose pump is very rare too.
  22. Hello all, after seeing Lakshanks rebuild it gave me the enthusiasm to do my own! Here are some pictures of me recovering it and taking home! After a good wash! All in all its a very solid vehicle with minor chassis repairs to undertake and some TLC will see it right!
  23. Hello peolple. I am Mike from Manchester, UK. I saw a topic on here regarding a forward control which made me join the forum. However, I have been reading peoples posts for parts. If you require anything for a Land Rover please ask me and I would be more than happy to locate here in the UK and post to you if that helps anybody out? I have many series land rover parts also. Please do NOT think I am a dealer offering you this service. I am a very keen landrover enthusiast and I am very happy to help other landy enthusiasts. Anyway, hello to you all as i have just joined. Best regards Mike.
  24. Hello. I am Mike from UK. I have just joined the forum, I could not find antwhere to make an introduction so i'll do it here! I have seen this IIB link via google. I was so impressed with your landy that I have gone and bought a IIB forward control myself. I am thinking of doing a 110 coil conversion with a 200tdi and running gear. Do you have anymore photos of the rebuild that I could look at Lakshank? also what modifications did you have to do to the rear croosmember to make it higher than a standard 110? Again, yours ids a fantstic motor and I hope mine looks just as well when its finished. Best regards Mike.
