  1. Na mate I read some where that if the vehicle is not wiped and if it is done often it can damage the paint work and all (Didn't explain properly - it said about minerals settling on the paint work and staining) This didn't make much sense to me because, I was thinking hang on what happens when you go in the rain and all. You would never wipe your car rite. Also if the car is waxed then water should run off without any retention rite. So if there is the risk of swirls being put on the paint work if not wiped properly, is it not better off to let the vehicle dry over time, was my question.
  2. Just out of curiosity, what if the vehicle is allowed to dry without wiping (without driving away of course). Are there any effects on the paint work or the metal.
  3. So far we have tried out most of the kind opinions suggested by you all. But I regret to update you that they are absconding the matter. Such is the situation and I'm appalled by the way they deal with customers.
  4. Hello to everyone. My father ordered a Freelander 2 under the government officers permit scheme back in June 2011. It was to be delivered by the end of October but due to numerous issues with Land Rover the delivery took place only in Jan 2012.Once the vehicle was cleared and was in the dealer's yard, we were allowed to have a look before the actual delivery to us took place.Upon inspection we realised that it has several dent marks on the bonnet and rear passenger door. Also there is a deep scratch on the front passenger door as well. The experience is very appalling and I urge any prospective buyer to be careful. Also I humbly request for any opinions from the forum members as to what action we should take. Furthermore the agents are attempting to make a local fix, but we believe this is not acceptable as 100 percent recovery to original quality is not achievable. At this point we are inclined to reject the vehicle, and I would like to know from everyone whether this would be the correct approach. Thanks
  5. Hi has anyone used this clear paint protection product. Searched the topics in the forum but could not find anything specific. If any of you know whether it is available in Sri Lanka and where I may have it installed please help. I checked on the net and it seems to be pretty effective against gravel damage etc. IF anyone has had it on your car please share your experience as well. thanks

  10. A very good topic this is. Something that is most important and mostly neglected in Sri Lanka is details pertaining to tires. For example exceeding the manufacture recommended rim size is bad because the tire wall thins out such that excessive vibrations are transferred to the body. Similarly exceeding the recommended tire pressures can reduce grip, which may increase braking distances. As one person has mentioned above the recommended tire pressure may vary depending on the load and road surface as well for the same vehicle.
  11. Hi all this a little confusing...Get mixed messages when the dealers are contacted...If there is anyone here who has contacted the agents and has a confirmed list of possible vehicles for the government permit please post it.. I know the following... LAND ROVER : Freelander 2 BMW: 320d and X1 (SUV), but some one had posted saying they offer 320i as well..not sure about this MERCEDES : C180 ... I saw a few people had commented about this..When I contacted the agents they said only A class was to be offered..But this was some time back.. AUDI : A4 ...Again not sure but I see that its in the above list VW: any one has info about Tiguan and other mid sized SUV's they have PEUGEOT : the 508 is a beautiful car...Does anyone have any info about this... MICRO : I see people have mentioned about a new SUV..checked the motor mag...Looks decent... Mitsubishi : Montero sport,Lancer,Outlander Toyota: I asked them so many times but there decisions weren't finalized..If any one knows please post that too Nissan: Not sure again...Any one has info please post that... Please if anyone has any useful info add to this list..
  12. Thats the thing...Without those options the LR2 is no more a luxury mid size SUV...Korean vehicles come with full features, but there may be reliability issues and may not be as classy..You had mentioned on another thread about BMW vehicles as well rite..What about those did they offer better options..
  13. Hi kaushama since you are considering on buying LR2 I presume you have contacted the agents...Well the LR2 comes in different trims..What were you offered..Was it the HSE version (the full option version).I contacted them and I was offered a very basic version.. Thanks,

    Bmw X1 Vs 318D

The F series is rumored to hit the market in 2012/2013, which means the E90 will shed a lot of its value. Hey Freelander 2 HSE is a full option version. Are you sure about this, as in did you contact the dealer directly. 6mil+ is a lot of money, but non permit is well over 10 mil if i remember correct
