Friend, Honestly, I know nothing about servicing insight. Why don't you contact Stafford Motors workshop. Automobile Service Complex (Workshops & Spare parts) 63, Stork place, Colombo 10. Contact Person: Lal Ganegoda (Senior Manager-Workshop) Phone: +94 11 4741122 Fax: +94 11 2697423

Pericles, I don't want to answer you all craps. But for #3, I suggest Honda insight because it has good acceleration than Prius. Regarding training, lets drop rocket science, can you follow a good computer diploma course within 3 months? I'm not talking about a diplomas at petti kade institute. in reputed institute or uni. so, what else you are talking about advance technology course? do you think it is practical to bring Japanese team here and pay them 6 figure salary for maintain hybrids. specially, trouble free Prii I'm not talking about the thing in my MIND. this is what i asked when i went to service my car at Toyota Lanka. dude, dealer backup problem is the only one tool in your hand to fight with Prius. If that isn't a problem for other prius owners, why you take it as a serious matter? Opener, Happy purchase! See you on the road in a Prius!
-
Did you ever drive Axio, 121 , Allion? May be that is true for you. It doesn't make sense for three wheel drivers You have lot of things to learn brother. It is not practical for business. If you want more info, call Toyota Lanka and ask why they don't bring Japanese team to maintain hybrids.
-
Be careful friend. Richard peris will hire you as a consultant. No. reason is, they still don't have trained human resources. They (even we) didn't think about rapid growth of Prius market in SL. Do you think, japan can produce trained human resources in just two weeks? or months? Good for you.

Machan, you are again showing your disgusting anti-hybrid behaviors. Trying to attack by person and make him silence, like you guys did for Rover I don't want to take your character certificate, People know who is stupid and who is wise. I don't want you to listen to me. just get the facts and prove it rather than saying useless blah blah... We were talking about 2008 prius, it is a mid size econbox. Everyone in here know that. When we compare cars, we'd take cars in same class. Edirishighe already told us, His Prius (2008) is better than his previous Axio. Search on the net, you will find Prius Gen 2 reviews that compare with other same class cars. I don't know how you got Maruti to compare with Prius. Is that what your imagine level? Readers may think what a .......... oh. next time get a better reason to attack me.

Pericles, I said 10,000 people can't be wrong. Still i'm saying. It is valid until you (or someone else) break my argument with acceptable reason/s. You said you dislike hybrids, you dislike prius, than again said you haven't said anything against Panamera hybrid. so, what we can think about it? If i said "I'll meet you when i come to visit zoo" ooops, i didn't meant to say you are in zoo, but Dehiwala. but others may take it wrongly sorry! that is what i got from you comments. i don't want to fight with you or others. what i'm saying is, 1. Prius is not a bad car at all. 2. It has better handing and good ride quality. It also give you decent acceleration whenever required 3. If someone want to race on the roads and love hybrids, consider Honda Insight 4. Toyota Lanka doesn't support for Prius yet, but you can get regular maintenance done by them. Also you can find good places to checkup hybrid system health and even get done small maintenance 5. Don't listen to rumors, HV battery made to last for vehicle lifetime, at least 10 years, if you buy 2007 prius, you can run at least 6 years without any problem. who know what happens at that time. 6. Car is reliable just like other Toyota cars. If JDM Premios, Allions, Axios and Vits can run on our roads, why Prius can't? It doesn't made with rocket science. 7. Prius Gen 2 works 20km/l - 24km/l depending on your driving style. 8. It has decent cargo space as well as leg space in rear seats. That give comfort ride for your family members. 9. Nice to use as a family car or daily long distance ride. 10. If you got any problem with you car, go to Toyota Lanka first. They will consult you what to do. Don't let others to play around and use car as a learning materiel.

Does terrible roads, extreme weather and harsher driving condition effect to battery life? if so, how? Do you know what is "product recall"? and why Toyota recall products? also, search for "Axio recall" and "Corolla Recall" since they are proven technology on our roads.
-
Please see thread title. Opener intended to go for 2008 Prius. So, you are saying, if someone wants to buy a hybrid car.He should go for Panamera hybrid. Pan barinam cake kapalla Thanks for read Anti-Hybrid analysis. hope now you have more weapons to use against hybrids Machan Pericles, stop these nonsense. if you don't like Prius, that is your choice. You have to say "I personally don't like Prius because ... " don't try to screw things up and express wrong image regarding hybrid cars. See what opener asking, He came here because, he wants to buy 2008 Prius and he had to think twice about his decision due to scary rumors floating around. he asked a help... his primary choice was Prius. what you guys are doing? As a responsible member in a public forum, you should have to explain pros and cons about Prius/Allion and help him to take wise decision. Responsibility gone wild conflicting with me and trying to say Prius is bad, majority prius owners are stupid. but you have no facts on you hand to say why it is bad, are you?
-
OK, You are the only wise man and all other hybrid owners are pound foolish. unfortunately, that could be vice versa Regarding numbers, there were 3000 hybrids imported at the tax hiking date. (April 25th as i remember), that figures went up to 8000 by mid June. there should be 10,000+ hybrids imported now because of rapidly growing market. Please look roads, you'll see what i mean.
-
Pericles, You clearly show off how anti-hybrid fellows behaving on non-hybrid forum. This is for your reference http://john1701a.com/prius/anti-hybrid_analysis.htm Get facts, why you are saying "do not go for hybrids" ? prove it rather than trying to attack by person. We saw you guys attacking to Rover in other thread. This is a common behavior for guys like you. you have no facts on your hand but want to stop people who talking about hybrids. am i wrong? only fact i can accept is, no dealer backup for hybrids yet (specially prius) hope they'll start it soon. other than that, get me at least one better reason to say "don't go for hybrids" I'm kindly asking you, please don't mislead people.
-
Thats funny Pericles Lets say "There are 10000 guys (porawal) in prison because of they accused for raped or smuggling" so, you think " ah, thats nice! I'd better to do rape and go to prison" but for Prius, when you saw a prius on the road, you may think " wow, thats a nice car, I'd better to get one" Do you know why people advocate terrorism in canada? because, that is their main revenue path. I'm working for #1 non-proft software providing company in US. we know why people boasting for humanity, advocate for different diseases (like cancer), boasting for Anti-Poverty. because that makes million dollars, spend few for projects and rest goes to their pockets. do you ever heard a prius promotion, like "promote prius and stand a chance to win a Prius" Well, Hitler was their proud leader, that's why million of people vote for him. They want to be a proudest nation in the world. very much similar to people who voted for our president They didn't had a better choice/alternative. In SL auto market, we have lot of choice/options.but why people going for Prius? I think i have answered your question.
-
Mate, do you think Prius is something like "Pathola Massa"? No, It is not a toy. It is proven technology that is running over 14 years on roads. Take a look at this. http://www.themotorreport.com.au/6042/prius-taxi-belts-out-half-a-million-klicks "According to Vic Johnston, Toyota's manager of hybrid sales and fleet strategy, these are the only two Prius' in Australia that have even needed a battery replacement at all, since its arrival on our shores in 2001." Also, I've recently chat with USA prius owner (who own Gen 1 Prius since 2002 Aug.) She got 300,000 miles with original battery (and still in place) If you want to see how reliable it is, pls go to priuschat.com there are 200,000 miles club and 300,000 miles club. talk to them, ask them how many owners replaced HV battery, how many of those did other costly maintenance/part replacements. Don't believe rumors! When i park my car somewhere in town (Kurunegala) some people coming next to me and asking about the car, that happens often. Their first question is "meke petrol wada karanawa hodai neda, kochchra withara wada karanawada?" , you know their 2nd question, "Battery eka ganan neda?" some people know how much it cost next, "battery eken kochchra dura yanna puluwan da? 5 - 10 km??" if i said, less than 2km, "oh, ehemada???" if i asked how do you know about this car? 95% guys saying "mage yaluwek kiwwe". That is the only thing average people know about hybrids, that is the only thing they heard about hybrid as well as only thing they saying to others. so, i have to explain what is hybrid, how it works, how it save fuel, how reliable it is. if i had time (and thought worth it) i'm showing them how it is work. finally their response is "shaaa.. patta baduwak ne. yaluwa mata kiwwe ganna nam epa, battery eka replace karanna wenawa kiyala" I think, AL members have much knowledge than average people.
-
I don't wanna start a conflict by promoting hybrids. that is often happen almost every hybrid thread in AL. But for your question, Yes, this is wrong place to ask about HYBRIDS because, lot of members in here don't like hybrids. unfortunately, that is true and proven fact Owners: If there are 1-2 owners, we can say they are wrong. but10,000+ people can't be wrong. Toyota Lanka: why they tried to import it before? http://www.toyota.lk/vehicle.php?id=prius they given it up because no one wanted to buy it for 7 million at that time. now situation is different. They are responding for the market demand. They'll start hybrid maintenance soon. Parts importers: Until dealer start supporting officially, they'll play a good role (even after dealer start supporting). you can ask sphere part prices from them rather posting scary figures.
-
Mate, you have posted your question in wrong place If you love to buy Prius and have any problem with your decisions, go and meet some prius owners(best place is Toyota Lanka, you'll surely found) ask them your questions. See Sunday Hitad, talk to some places where they maintain hybrids or import parts etc...

Regarding Japanese voice, I'm not sure whether it is tied with navigation system. Because, when i turn on the system, it always announce something about ETC unit and if i don't turned on headlight in dark environment and tried to move on, it announce different message. If i didn't close drivers door and put gear to D or R, getting another message. Also, i got messages few other situations, not exactly remember. Its too early to explained it all because i'm using it only 3 months.
-
Kaveen, Are you replacing display unit completely? or just updating the software? As i know, there are slight differences in features for different editions. For example, 6CD changer, ETC Unit, In built HDD, VSC ... so, how you handle that? What happens to the Japanese girl in the car , will she speak in English? Addition to my previous post, I have fixed full range FM audio setup from Sun Lanka. They just cut speaker wires and fixed it thru relays. When i turn ON new audio setup, speakers connecting to it, when i turned OFF it, speakers connecting to car audio system. I think you can fix this kind of mechanism from other places (like Pet#o) too. easy enough.

If you have Prius Japanese model, you can't change language. You may find some guys out there who convert Japanese display to English. I think it is bit risky. I don't know, its up to you. You can download English version Prius Gen. II Manual here http://john1701a.com/prius/prius-userguide_iconic.htm Some functions may little bit vary on your edition (S,S touring, Anniversary edition etc..) But, you can use this to identify and familiar with Japanese multifunction display. If you get familiar with it, it isn't hard to living with your original Japanese display. GPS not available here (even you converted your display), Audio system is partially English, so won't hard to manage it. A/C screen almost in English. Only thing is Phone and bluetooth connection. Let me show you how to connect Bluetooth phone. Please note that, this is 2008, 10th Anniversary edition. Your screen may be different than here. 1. Go to Phone screen. Press phone button on your steering or follow these steps, Press Info/G-Book button on the left hand side. Then, Tap phone icon on the screen. 2. On this screen, tap "setting" button on the left bottom Once you connect your phone, you can see it here (See top left corner) It also shows you phone battery level ,signal level and Bluetooth connection's strength (BT icon turns to red if signal level is low) Again, these info may depend on your phone model. 3. You'll get phone setting screen. From here, you can manage your phone book, switch between two or more phones/profiles, lock down phone functions blah blah blah... Just tap Bluetooth icon to connect your phone. 4. You'll see Bluetooth setting screen below. Tap on "connect" button. Make sure you turn ON Bluetooth on your phone before proceed. 5. Bluetooth connection screen appear and it is trying to connect with your phone. Your phone will prompt you to enter pass-phase at this time. Enter pass-phase displaying on the screen. If nothing happened within 10-15 seconds, search new Bluetooth devices on your phone. Once it found "HANDS FREE: (the device name displaying on the screen), connect it. you'll be prompted to enter pass-phase. 6.Once it connected, you'll get Bluetooth settings screen again. The button next to "Register" is for setup connection mode. There are two options, default is "Always connect" When you turn on your car next time, it will automatically connect with your phone. no need to follow above steps again.

I mean, "if you get managed it properly, you will have a chance to be unique". with other 2999 hybrid drivers, you won't be a unique, but it will be a unique group. known as "tree hugers"
-
This could have happened at any time. One of my friend is importing a Prius just to save 2 - 3 lakh rather buying imported one. His car is in a ship now
-
Seems like you are anti-hybrid fellow. Why are you hating to hybrids? In my perspective, I don't think people buy hybrids because of high mpg. (May be i'm wrong) But there are lot of other attractive factors that influence people to buy hybrids. I bought Prius because i love its design, its options/features. least significant reason was mpg, i couldn't get more than 21 so far, even people saying it is working 25 or so. but i'm not worrying about it since i'm not ready to change by driving habits. You are correct, if i wanted to save environment, I'd have to plant trees. But If i can save some bucks on fuel, it could be a reason for a weekend picnic Well, mate, there is a risk for everything. if you get managed it properly, you will have a chance to be unique. Eventually, Toyota Lanka will start supporting for hybrids. I heard, they already sent a team to japan for a training regarding hybrid maintenance. Honda already supporting for hybrids. According to yesterday news, there are 3000 hybrids imported within last two - three months. so, do you think all of those are $$ greedy tree hugers?

I Agree.I meant to say, Driver doesn't want to do anything special to get the benefits of it. ECU gather and store spare energy that is wasting while you driving. Then release it whenever the car is in need of little power to move on and keep the engine idle or off. That saves fuel. Acceleration pattern do the magic. Not the speed. On a flat road, if you suddenly press accelerator to advance speed 40 to 60. engine kicks off. but if you press it smoothly and gradually,it take few seconds but engine won't kicks off. What would be the best? going 30 - 35 to get 25km/l or drive with little patient and save some fuel. it is up to you, but will effect not only you but also others behind your car.
-
Usually, Man drive car. But with Hybrid myths, Prius drive man. I bought Prius (2G/2007) about 3 weeks ago. Only drive 3000km so far. It is dong 21 km/l with around 50-80 speed. In my experience, it is a good car with nice pickup and good handling. As I believe, running on battery power up to 30km/h isn’t always true. Hybrid synergy drive system is much smarter than that. It doesn’t stick to vehicle speed, but the power needs to move on. If you are driving up to the hill, even in 10km/h speed, it switches to engine. Also, when you are driving on flat road at 60km/h constant speed, it switches to battery since vehicle doesn’t need much power. Driving Prius at 30km/h just to save gas is purely a joke. It can do only 1 – 1.5 km with fully charged battery. Then turn the engine on to charge battery. If you know science, while converting one form of energy to another form always cause an energy waste. This means, there is more energy waste in Gas (Engine) to Electricity (Battery) -> Electricity (Battery) to moving power (Motor) than Gas to Moving power (Engine) Toyota didn’t make hybrid to change driver’s habit. But to save little bit gas by using alternative power source whenever necessary. Man shouldn’t be a slave of machines. Just my 2 cents thought. By the way, I’m new to AutoLanka forum.
