If you want a diesel go for a Korean SUV because they are compatible with euro 2 diesel and they all have enough power and good handling.But if you are going to buy a petrol go for a Japanese. I think CRV is the best then comes CX5 but don't go for a RAV4 because new model is yet to come.

most of the hyundai/kia diesel SUVS ,(2007,2008models) need engine overhaul even though they haven't done 100000km yet.Is there any special reson for this?

My advice is do not buy one. I had one,the electronic side did not cause much problems, But drive train did.So i had to repair it more frequently

In EU, Russia ,South Africa and Australia Sportage Diesel has become very popular.They have to wait for 5-7 months to have one .Due to this high demand sportage diesel is not offered by kia motors Sri Lanka. If it is available it is the best vehicle to have.

Buy an K&N from e-bay .costs about 5000 RS but you do not have to replace it.

I wonder whether the two companies in Sri Lanka (Kia and Hyundai) really have an idea about the Sulphur content in super diesel.I think it should be ultra-low sulfur diesel (ULSD) ,which has a sulphur content <50ppm

Yes I tried, it works well. Car drives as conventional car but acceleration gets sluggish (similar to fit area).Remember, to start the car you should have a good 12v battery.Please check your 12v battery .

I do not know about Prius but Honda insight is a very simple car.You can forget about its electric part an use as an conventional car.No extra cost for electric part , its platform is identical to Honda city so the mechanical parts are cheaper than the civics. Other thing is, if some thing happens to the electric part you can switch it off then it will work as a 1300cc conventional car. However it has become the most reliable car in US market in 2010 as there was no retorted problems

In Sri Lanka super diesel has a sulphur content of 500 ppm. But these engines ask for 50 ppm
