Carb Type Car Stop Suddenly When Accelerating
Iroshw replied to Iroshw's question in Mechanical problems
Guys, The prob is almost solved after cleaning the carb unit by spraying Abro Carb Cleaner. But rarely stops the car when driving. I guess this happened due to bad Petrol. Same thing happened when I pump petrol from the same fuel station sometimes back (near the Buddha Statue and Bridge at Morauwa old road, after the junction). Irosh -
Hi, I have a Mitsubishi C62A (1991 Carb Type Engine - 4G15) car. Yesterday there was a huge leak (Steering Fluid) and was difficult to drive. Today in the morning I was driving from Moratuwa to Kolpity and the car stopped suddenly. I tried to start the car but didn't work. The leaked horse is near the Compressor and Carb. And also noted that the sound which I hear when trying to start the car is not as earlier. It's like the starter motor is not working properly. I have replaced the Delco unit (Distributor) recently. Any idea what exactly happened? Is there a connection to the engine with the steering fluid unit? Had to stop the car near Williams and come. Now need to get a mechanic guy to check. Irosh

Yes, I tried to remove it, but trust me, the screws are like the hell. -
Carb Type Car Stop Suddenly When Accelerating
Iroshw replied to Iroshw's question in Mechanical problems
Yes Rumesh, the Cylinder (inside of the Carb) should move smoothly when accelerating. But now it gets stuck somewhere when accelerating (not always). I tried to clean the cylinder by spraying Carb Cleaner but didn't work. I put my finger into the hole after moving the Cylinder aside, I saw some dirt and also some oil (not sure exactly) inside of the hole. It is really hard to remove them even using the Carb Clean. I really like to get that Drum (Cylinder) out and clean. The problem is I can't remove the screws, I tried all my screwdrivers but didn't work. Any idea? Will I mess the thing? -

Carb Type Car Stop Suddenly When Accelerating
Iroshw replied to Iroshw's question in Mechanical problems
Rumesh: It was another issue had sometimes back related to Clutch Plates and high fuel usage. But this is a new issue started yesterday. And, I forgot to mention that I have replaced my Deco (distributor) a few months ago. But hope there is no relationship between the Deco and this new issue. I still can start the vehicle by accelerating a bit. Some say the problem is with my cab unit. -
I have a Mitsubishi C62A (ASP Model - year 1991) bought 3 years ago. It has 4G15 Carb Engine. There is a huge problem from yesterday. When I was driving the car yesterday in the evening, I have noticed that the RPM meter goes (very fast) down after accelerating the and when changing the gear. But this doesn't happen when driving the car in the same Gear (say on the Top or 4th) continuously. But when I'm going slowly and when trying to change the Gear the RPM goes down and stops the car. When I need to start the car I need to accelerate a bit if not it doesn't start. I have cleaned the Carb yesterday in the evening by using a Carb Cleaner (ABRO). Today in the morning I could drive the car a few KMs without any issue but again the problem occurred. I was thinking about the Petrol since I did pump from a place near Moratuwa (there is a small Fuel Station at the Moratuwa old road near the bridge and Buddha Statute). I can remember there was a petrol block after pumping petrol from the same fuel station in the last year. At that time I didn't know about the issue and the Mechanical guy said that my Carb got stuck and had to clean. Day before yesterday in the evening I pump, Petrol from the same station. My concern is whether the issue is with the Fuel. But I did clean the Carb by spraying Carb Cleaner yesterday. Also have noticed that there were some oil (not sure) inside of the Carb (on the thing similar to a Drum - moving when accelerating). Also noticed that Drum stucks when moving from hand. Mean when Accelerating the Drum goes inside of a hole, but not moving back (stuck inside of the hole but not always). Is that the issue? Any idea about the issue? Irosh

Guys, I have removed the Ignition Module then found the coil inside. Already removed the coil and seems it has burnt. Will try to replace this with a used one and check.
-
There are only 4 high tension leads. I have removed the distributor cap but can't see any coils inside. There is another wheel inside of the distributor which can't remove. Hope the Ignition coil is inside of the distributor. There is no way to remove the wheel, no nails.
-
How to identify the ignition coil? This is 4G15 Mitsubishi Lancer engine.
-
Update: Didn't start the car for more than 24hrs and tried yesterday in the evening. There were no power through plugs, couldn't start the car. The battery was ok and the starter motor worked too. Still the ignition coil issue? As most of you all said, can be started when the engine is cold. But didn't work. Any idea?
-
Thanks guys, there is a big spare part shop in Moratuwa and will be able to get a used ignition coil for a low price. I will test by replacing to a used one first. And will see how it goes. Irosh

I did this but couldn't see any sparks from the plug to the chassis. As you said the ignition coil has gone. But how come the car starts after cooling? Machan any idea about the prices of Ignition coil? Is it possible to repair in case?

Totally agree machan. I went to three guys. Since the car stopped near Maligawatte junction on last Friday. It was very hard to find a Mechanic at that time. I went to Panchikawatte and found a guy. He did clean all plugs and then replaced plug wire set too. The car started with a hard push but could run only few KMs. As per him there is an electrical issue. I had to keep the car at Panchikawatte (Ambesekararama Road). Then on Saturday could start the car with another push but stopped at Darly Road. Another guy checked the petrol pipes carb but couldn't find any issues there. He asked me to replace the Distributor coil. He asked to stop the car when I feel the first miss. I could drive the car to Moratuwa (had to stop three times)... Yesterday the car started in the morning but could run only a few KMs. The starter motor is running but there is no power to the engine through plugs.

Thanks guys for the info. Just noticed another thing. After stopping the car I checked whether the power is coming into the engine or not. There is no power when trying to start the car. Means there is no power to the plug from the distributor. But my battery is good also the starter motor. One guy said the problem with the distributor coil. I'm scared to do anything since I have replaced a lot of parts as of now and spent some money too. Help....
-
Also, another guy said the coil should have gone due to the high temp.

Hi, I'm not sure whether this is an electrical issue or mechanical issue. I have a Mitsubishi C62A 1991 car (ASP Model). It has 4G15 powerful 1500cc Petrol Engine. There is a small water leak in the radiator and sometimes the heat goes up (not full but little more than the normal temp). I tried to close the leak but the guy who did make it worse. Now one water line is not working and not sure whether the others working fine too. From a couple of days there is a huge problem. Car stops without indicating anything. But I feel few misses before it stops. I thought the carb was blocked and cleaned. But still the problem is there. Then another garage guy said the problem is with my plug wires (from the distributor to the plugs). Then I replaced them as well (plugs are not new but working). Nothing helped. There is no petrol block, no carb block. Another said my Gascut should have gone due to the heat. When the heat goes up the Radiator fan starts. True that the radiator core is bad now. Another thing, After 30 minutes the car starts again. But sometimes not, then need to push to start the car. My battery also good. Guys, please help me to identify this issue. I showed the car to electrical and mechanical guys. They asked me to do this and that and I did all but the problem is still there. Irosh

Machan, finding turtle wax heavy duty rubbing compound is really hard. I went here and there (moratuwa to Ratmalana) including most of the shopping centers like cargills, kheels, but I failed. Please help. Irosh

And, do I need a buffering machine too? I know it is not that easy to rub the entire car body by hand. Are there any places rent them? I'm from Moratuwa. Guys, help me... What I'm trying to do is, use a Rubbing compound to remove the faded/burnt area, then wash the car. After the car dried, apply a Wax by using a cloth. THe only problem I have is buffering machine. And, do I need to use Water Sandpapers with Rubbing Compound? Any other option?
-
guys, Tell me a good rubbing compound and a wax can purchase for a good price. I'm from Moratuwa and great if you could tell me the price as well. Do I need to apply polish as well? Can I do it by myself? Do I need to use any item to rub and wax ?
-
Exactly Will you be able to mention the steps to be followed? with the best and available products?
-
Its Silver (original color also the same). I heard that some use Component to apply on the faded area then apply polish then wax. I'm not sure, but saw in the YouTube video. Any brand to use as the component, polish and wax?

Hi guys, I'm using a Mitsubishi ASP Model for more than two years now. The space at my home garage was not enough to cover the full car from sunlight (had to install a large roof recently). Ok, the problem is the front of my car paint is faded (not everywhere but mostly on the sides and mid of the bonnet. The top of the bonnet is not smoother than earlier (its rough). Is there any way to get rid of this without doing a full body paint? I went through few youtube videos and there are ways to remove faded paint (using component, wax, polish, etc). HELP !!! Irosh

Guys, I'm using a Mitsubishi C62A (ASP Model). There was a huge leak and did a repair but didn't work well. I mean the heat goes up since one water line is not working (hope they closed one). From where I can get replace the core? I'm from Moratuwa and working at Kolpity. What would be the cost? The size of the radiator is not more than 16-18 inches (width and height same size). Irosh
