[Newbie Advice] Buying A Used Motorcycle
Straga replied to Watchman's question in Car Buying Information
Hmm looks like the only sporty looking bike for my budget is the tzr/rz. Any idea if there is a cheaper alternative to the XR250? You know a dirt bike kinda look..?- 139 replies

Googled it and most of the examples seem to be above 250,000. Shame, seems like a really nice bike- 139 replies

Yes a TZR was definitely an option, found an old thread about that as well.. An RZ is a yamaha? no chance on any hondas/suzukis in that price range..?- 139 replies

Guys i need a little help. Planning on buying first motorcycle and since i dont know much about bikes thought id post here and get some advice. Anyway my budget is upto 50k. I want a bike that is reasonably good looking, not one of them indian ones, is reliable and one that has decent fuel economy. Yeah thats about it and suggestions will be welcome.- 139 replies

aha sounds good man. No point having a buying guide i think im just gonna the specific questions i have lol
-
http://www.clarity.n...uying-bike.html Found that online. Very long read but also extremely detailed. Maybe some of the motorcyclists on this forum would like to start off?
-
I recently saw a thread in the forums which was a car buying guide. It was really detailed and had the common models with price brackets, problems etc. Very useful information for a first time car buyer. Why dont we make one for motorcycles as well? You know a thread we can post the best bikes in the price ranges and some info about them etc. The problem is while im very interested in bikes, i dont know much about bikes/prices in sl. So someone with more experience can maybe take over and hopefully this thread can become a valuable resource to motorcycles buyers

Again jami, wernt you raring to take part in 'illegal' drag races some time ago with a minicooper? Maybe the RDA should be informed about that...
-
Thank you for the reply, will try what you said asap. So i have to check the alignment and get the doors 'beaded' correct. My normal mechanic should be able to sort this 'beading' out or are there any specialized places? Thanks
-
OP i dont mean to hijack your thread, but i too have a question on doors so i though id post it here. Guys the doors on my 10 year old AE110 make a flat sorta noise when i shut them instead of the usual 'thud'. Also one rear door never shuts properly it needs to slammed to shut it. What do you think the problem is? thanks
-
That is good news indeed, it its true. Can anyone confirm?
-
Wasnt the Jami the fellow who had a mini cooper and wanted to race in that "drag race" prank you guys pulled some time ago? i wonder how legal that was..
-
No no thats not what i meant. While it may be 'wrong' to do these things, cops seemed to be a lot more lenient around 2 months back, atleast in my experience. Now they are readily stopping, talking bullshit and expecting bribes. Anyway like pericles said its sorta turning into a pity party so i stopped replying but i did have to clarify this. We were wrong beign underage etc, but what really got me what just feeling up my pockets without any reason at all and that is why i was more annoyed. This seemed like a gross invasion of my privacy without a probable cause ( we were not drinking or smelling funny im sure)...
-
and about few cops beign 'decent', yes infact mostly we have a friends car when we go out, but he doesnt have a license only a learners permit.. and almost all times when we get stopped even late in the night the cops let us off.. Just recently it seems like the cops are becoming assholes...
-
Yes thats the sorta situation we were in too. The cops basically told us "get your parents to come pick you up from jail"... At that moment we didnt think about anything besides getting out of there man..
-
Yeah man probably...
-
I know man, but atleast im wiser now. Next time im gonna give it to the cops if something like this happens. Its stuff like this that really makes us loose all respect for this countries police force..
-
Yep thats what we are thinking now too lol. cant think straight in a situation like that also, my legs were shaking couldn't even stand straight..
-
It was barely a checkpoint, just two buggers standing there.. One young fellow and another slightly older guy.. Later on some other guy came and the tuk guy told us to bribe and fellows and leave otherwise wed be in deep shit, so we did...
-
Yes i did join just to complain about this, but ive been viewing the threads here for some time and i have noticed a lot of threads complaining about this sorta behaviour... Anyway guys the packet was EMPTY, there was nothing in it. but my point is how can the cops just stop us and check out pockets for no reason at all? Sorry if i seem like im ranting..
