  1. ok. so i took the car to a renowned A/C place in kohuwela and got them to have a look. they did hear the noise, also checked the belts prior to this. didn't need to put water as it was raining that day. finally had a look at the rpm level with AC on and AC off. noticed that the rpm decreases before coming to normal when AC is switched on where on the other hand when i switch off the AC the RPM increases before coming to normal (800 RPM) .(was told that the RPM is supposed to go up when AC is switched on). They said that this should be the problem. asked me to go to any local garage and do a tuneup and also check the throttle. didnt have time yet. Any opinion on the above comment?

  3. where did you do this and how much did it cost?
  4. sylvi, i seem to have the same problem. where can i go and get this done.
  5. hey everyone.. sorry i did not follow up on the issue. the problem still persists. The belts are infact new ones which i replaced in May. Have tightened after a few hundreds of KM but still I am getting the noise.Even put water and checked. but not resolved yet. I was told that it could be the alternator that is giving this noise. Any thoughts on this?
  6. Hi Guys, I have an issue, I used to get a noise from the fan or a/c belt and subsequently changed both with new ones. As advised by the mechanics I drove the vehicle around for about a week or so and tightened the belts and the noise disappeared. Now almost two months later I am still getting the same noise. I read somewhere in the forum something about the belt pulley or teeth slipping when polished. If this could be the cause can anyone suggest me someplace I could go and get this sorted out. Thanks.
  7. Hi guys, sorry for the delay.. but thank you all for your feedback.. after considering everything you all said and taking the feedback from my relatives, I finally decided to go with a Swift. so far I am enjoying the ride and hope that this continues..
  8. Hi guys, thank you all for your response.. my BIL took the car to the garage finally and the garage owner drove the car around and checked underneath and finally concluded that the gear box mount connecting to the engine had gone. Replaced the same and voila.. no noise or vibration..
  9. The car is the swift Jeep model year 2004. Let me ask him on the AT/CVT. If am not mistaken he did a full service last week with all oil changes and still this noise exists.
  10. Hi Guys, My BIL swift is giving a "tok" noise and vibrating when the gear is shifted from N to D and R. Also this "Tok" noise tends to come on and off when driving. What could be the real problem here. Mounts? if so which one? Bushes? Appreciate your help. Btw am planning to buy a swift myself so it would be good for me to be aware of this issue. Thanks
  11. @Magnum - LMAO, its not the case of small car. They were suggesting that I look beyond a small car and consider a sedan like Carina which may be a better investment than a newer smaller car.
  12. @terrabytetango - Hmm. only reason i was told to consider carina was that although it is old it is still a very reliable car and with space, comfort, ease of spares, and even resale value it is still worth the investment. I am also looking at the swift @Schiffer - I do understand that it is not a small car but am trying to listen to peoples advise as to getting a vehicle which would be worth the investment
  13. @terrabytetango - I do understand.. But as i started off saying my budget still remains max 2.2M. Will i be able to negotiate to this price with the seller? also what is your opinion on the carina AT 210/212? is it worth going for this rather than the passo or swift.. Or do you suggest any better cars that would be in my budget?
  14. Thanks everyone for your comments.. I have been discussing with a few friends and relatives and they tell me now to even consider a carina..i have seen quite a few carina's on here as well as other sites and the owners are quoting about 2.4-2.6 M for a 2000 TI model. do you think carina would be a better option than the passo or the swift? if so what should be my asking price for the above year and model?
  15. @crosswind - Thank you for your opinion. but isnt the Viva's interior plastic too apart from the entire body looking plasticky.. I dont know maybe my perception. I know viva is a good car and my friend who uses says so but i would prefer a japanese vehicle just to be sure.. moreover am not worried too much about the fuel economy as i would be saving quite a bit of money on the current rent I pay. I will however keep viva on the list.
