Its is an VIVA. Apologies for the blunder. Did not knw the difference. All of them look same to me And it is A/T. Mileage is 40K. Slows down and stops. period. I opened the bonnet the last time when it happened. Everything seems cool as normal. To think of it it happens only when the car is at a standstill in the traffic, not while its moving. So basically when the car is driven, this issue doesnt come up. In addition to this, the RPM is over 01 since a fortnight back. always. Need a tune up as well I believe.

Posting this on behalf of a friend of mine. This is regarding a perodua elite 2009 model. When the car slows down, the engine light on the dashboard gets switched on and the engine is turned off. This has happened only a couple of times and did come up when i was driving the car once as well. However, the car starts up normally again and seems to run smooth after that. Guys any idea what the issue can possibly be? Any idea of a place to go to? is the agent the best place? Anything more we can do to know the root cause of the issue? Searched around the forum..Could not find a similar post. Apologies if I missed an existing similar topic.

@Wolsely will check. Unfortunately my mechanic has damaged his finger doing some repairs and he is off for 3-4 days Any AC place u would like to recommend...Talked a few places at koswatte. I am no expert but I felt these guys were not genuine. @The Don. Will check. Was looking for a place actually. The issue is three of my doors work lethargically . They get stuck yes..but the motors work. Need a service of some sort. The drivers door is not working at all. And I need to replace one of the buttons. Had some time looking for the rack. Walked along the highlevel for about 2 hours.. finally found one that matches exactly to the sample at sesatha. By the way if any one needs body parts for AT-170 carina, Dai has some parts in stock and cheap. Both the rear lights for 4.5K Bought a pair as well as stock.

I am no expert machan. Seems like ur engine is under compression. My dad owns a pajero with 4d56, the engine was under compression but we never received any issues with starting the engine in the morning and stuff. Only symptoms were smoke from the oil "pipe" and less pulling power 4d56 lasts long. You say this was not visible prior to 6000kms.. So possibly u can run about 25-35K or even more (saying that since we did so with the pajero..if the engine has not been bored before I think the life of the engine is more then). As to the expenses, we did the engine cylinder boring at wi@k@m. Spent about 125-130 on that..and about 50 more for other stuff (turbo service, etc,,) 180 - 200 should be a good target. Mind you I am no expert, and the experts here would help u more on this.

ok guys...thanks for all the suggestions. @Komisirapala, Paid a visit to indika as well...but seems like the chap is damn busy. Could not update u guys since I was stuck up with work and continued running the car since i bought it without any major hassle. Now, the car is Shaa motors kaduwela. I know its not the most reliable place around but i not the baas for some time and thought well... lets go to him again and see how it goes. 1/ Removed the rack today. Planning to go to delkanda tom to hunt for a replacement. 2/ Need to change the brakes hoses, brake pads, and what not. Need to "phase" (if its the right word) the disks as well.. 3/ Need to change the engine "packing" have oil leaks around it. Unfortunately the ac stopped working as well and the damn winders (auto) are not working as yet. After getting the above fixed the next stop is AC and the winders. Will update. First need to get the mechanical stuff fixed prior to getting a touch up done on the car.

Hi guys, I bought a carina AT170 (carburettor model 1989 17-9xxx) recently. This is my first own car although ive been using my dads for a few years but deffa need some help with a few issues. Will list them down so that any volunteers could help. 1/ The car does around 8 kms per litre average in the city and outstation. I am not sure what to do with it. I showed it to a mechanic, he says I need to replace the carburettor. Further, the car has a small jerk when accerlerating as well. Any ideas on this? Does an AT170 do only about 8kms? Any real good mechanic to show this to who will not take me for a ride? I drive 50 kms daily 2/ Further, it has tinkering on the border of the front windscreen. There is no tinkering elsewhere, but the previous owner has done touchups on this without a proper repair coz he has wanted to abstain from removing the windscreen. I want to fix this for good. Any mechanics u guys recommend? 3/ The power steering rack has to be replaced. There are oil leaks on both sides, so need to get a replacement from delkanda. But again need a good reliable mechanic. there are plenty but i dont trust anyone of these blokes around. I bought the car for 7. I know it has the above issues, but the interior is pretty cool and it runns really well, and its deffa below market price. Please do suggest me any mechanics u know so that I can get the car done up to the mint condition. Really love the car for some car reason probably coz this is the first car i purchased with my cash

Don, hmm there was a hell of a lot of rust. I do not pictures of it on logs but yes, it looked very bad. We started work on it jan and did up the body, and did one paint of coat on it, to ensure its protected. At the moment we are working on the brakes--brake pumps, clutch pumps...and preparing to start in a couple of days time after doing a complete engine wash. Mind u, we have no clue of the state of the engine. Hey machanla, thanx for the info. paid a visit to sumana motors again. planning to get some mechanical stuff from them. but, the body parts those chaps are no originals. hmmmm and no luck still with finding a scrap car, but i should pay a visit again to panchi and walk around to hunt for the stuff. im confused, how can i upload picts to the site. should i upload the picts elsewhere and give the link? got the picts but no idea how to upload. sorry guys im new to the forum.

@Crosswind..thanx machna for the quick reply. will deffa post a few photos. Well i tried ebay...but I couldnot get the stuff i want...and i ve been monitoring it for some time. I believe i can find the parts in SL however, mainly becoz so many of the cars were put aside aft the war. I visited jaffna 1 1/2 yrs back, and i saw at least 20 oxfords lying around. surely sm1 must be having access these cars. they are just left to rot..

My dad is restoring his old Morris Oxford VI saloon (6 sri) which he received as a gift from his dad... Restoring to use it as a wedding car some day We had to hunt around to get some parts but there are still a few key pieces missing; 1/ The rear lights - do not have originals. prefer if i can get them with the nickle covers. 2/ The rear buffer 3/ The clock inside.
