Anyone Used Click 2 Claim From Asian Alliance?
istowner replied to istowner's topic in General Automotive
Thank you. -
On the look out for a new insurer. Currently with Continental and realized the hard way i guess how badly they suck. Click2Claim sounds like a neat deal if it actually works the way they advertise. Anyone used them? and how accurate is their assessment through photographs submitted. Thanks

ok thanks Gunat, appreciate the comments given.

Hi there, Thanks for the update. Is your model the v6 version or the standard 2000cc?

Hi all, Thinking of buying a Grand Vitara 2006 or 2007 model. I have searched through the forums but haven't been able to find good enough info on what i need. I'm looking at the 2000cc Petrol model not the 2700CC V6. Basically need to know. 1. Fuel consumption roughly in colombo city running 2. Is maintenance high in general. (Spare parts etc) 3. Any known issues in the 2006 or 2007 models to look out for. Thanks.

I have a Toyota IST 2003 model and was looking on ebay to get down a OBD Bluetooth port. However I have no idea if mine is OBD standard 1 or 2. I'm attaching the actual image of the OBD port hoping someone here will know. Thanks

That's probably just for the doors. You need about 2 sheets per door and a sheet is about 1000 each so price is about right. However i wanted to do the rear boot floor and sides as well which is where the most noise in a hatch comes from. That's the hardest part imo and will cost a lot more.

I started on it but never got to finish the project. If you use the right product there's an improvement but it's a hard job in a sense as it takes a very long time to do it properly. You can outsource it but can be expensive. IST is not a noisy car but if your shocks are bad then yes it can be and tyre condition. You can't do too much on these cars though since hatchbacks are inherently more noisier than a sedan. Having said that you can certainly do reduce it a lot by proper sound damping material however as mentioned before, it will be a hectic job. So depends on how badly you want it .

As per the site it says it can be used for both. anyway one way to find out i guess if no one has used it before

I found this for home insulation. http://www.anton.lk/Heat_and_Sound_Insulation/Insulation_and_Packaging/Polar_Insulation Anyone can comment if it'll be any good on cars? will check out their showroom this weekend

Well roughly per door you may need 3-4 sheets depending on if you want to put it on the inside panel an out. so you can roughly do the math. Didn't ask about removal, generally you wouldn't want to remove once you put it on would you?

As in, how you can effectively take it out completely. That tar like stuff bonds pretty hard and might give you a bigger headache than the one you have now. Due to the harsher heat we have in SL, it might react differently thatn what you may have seen on Youtube, so having a solid exit plan in place is cruicial IMO.

Yes correct. Thats why I pasted only a few small strips. But generally speaking one wouldn't need to take it out if things are going okay. Anyway will report findings in a few days

For all those interested I'm testing out those peel and seal stuff. Will report findings in a few days. Put a few strips in the boot. But I want to see if any unusual smells are given out and how effective
-
On phone they quoted 1000per sheet but when I visited them price was 2000 I'm still researching as I now found that roof sealing sheets similar to peel and seal (Google it) works a charm at fraction of the cost.
-
After seeing this product today now I'm thinking if the tar based roof adhesive sheets with that silver top cover found in hardware stores will do the same job
-
That's so strange. I visited the narahenpita branch today to take a look at the product on offer and they showed me as well. It looks like a tar based sheet. Couldn't get any name as packaging was all chinese. problem is you ask two people in the shop and they will give two different prices. Was in a rush so couldn't be arguing but I know they HV the stuff.

<blockquote class='ipsBlockquote'data-author="iRage" data-cid="261409" data-time="1400084531">
For curiosity how much is Dynamat ? I always thought that although these are used for sound deadening in a car the original application was intended for audio installations.....I am pretty sure there was a previous thread on the matter if you do a search you will see that at that point in time non of us had actually used any of these products.

However most of the above posts were of a serious note....what makes you think your car is noisy ? Have you compared it against another IST ? Or measured sound levels (If you have a smart phone you can download an app to measure).

For a car of its class I always thought the IST was relatively quiet (but then I haven't ridden much in these things). If there is excessive noise there might be something wrong ? You said "road-noise" which as we mentioned earlier could also be due to bad/worn-out/cheap compound tires ? worn out bearings ? Broken/missing rubber grommet ? A beading that is loose ? So it might be prudent to give your car a good look-over as well ?

Do you still have the original floorboard carpeting that came with the car or did you do anything with it ?

Hi again, Okay just to clarify my car isn't giving any excessive noise mechanically. I'm looking at this more from a additional mod to do on car to make it even more quieter than factory spec. I have seen this being done overseas with good results just that I'm not sure how good what Pet#o l... sells, hence the reason for this post. Dynamat you can get on ebay but you're looking at over $200 and there are cheaper alternatives but as far as I know only Pet#o l... sells some kind of sound insulation sheets

But just like irage said, if there's excessive road noise, faulty wheel bearings and cheap tyres could be the reason

Hi yes I was talking about the mats. By the looks of it this is a new Concept for most here will have to keep asking I guess or be the ginypig and try it out myself. I have seen dynamat but way too expensive
-
I don't think you can use that in cars. Looks flammable (i'm assuming)
-
It's a Toyota IST
-
Not noisy, just looking to reduce road noise etc.
-
Anyone experienced with sound proofing their cars? I'm thinking of doing it but not sure if the stuff sold at Pet#o are any good. Pls give your thoughts of you have done this. Thanks
