  1. You're now stimulating the soft spot I had towards 508 but the premature engine wear and tear still keeping me away from that gen of Peugeots. Big mistake by reducing the pot capacity and trying to yank out more power. Also this reminded me of a 607 which only had 16k on odo sometimes back and a guy had jumped in thinking it's a minter since low mileage. ended up fixing almost all the car due to various issues. Personally I don't prefer low mileage cars rather will go for decently driven yet well maintained specimens.
  2. Audi 100 LS. This particular one must be from US coz of the additional side markets on all 4 corners was a must according to US regulations.
  3. Either Gummybr or matroska can proceed giving the next trivia. It's Isuzu Aska first gen, also known as Chevrolet JJ, Chevrolet Aska, Holden Aska.
  4. quite reasonable considering cost of living these days. never looked at dealer except when getting some minor accident repairs for 407 and buying small bits and pieces (engine cover retainer clips and door window guide for 406 which was nowhere to be found). Test drove 508 back then but didn't move into, rather walked away from the brand.
  5. Not checking forums on daily basis as opposed to those days where I used to be in the forum literally always. Good old days here you go. Must be a piece of cake for classic lovers.
  6. Congrats with your purchase. As long as your better half is happy
  7. What's the mileage ? Hissing sound is normal for this brake system. If you don't have any errors there's nothing to panic. Accumulator running is the standard operation to re-pressurise the system (which gets de-pressurise after few minutes from switching off the vehicle) If you can replace brake fluid every 10-15k, that will help longevity of the ABS modulator. As for accumulator and the pump, the pump obviously will wear out over a period of time and will need replacing when it doesn't generate enough pressure or takes prolonged period to pressurise the system.
  8. Not too bad. What was the labor and was it from the main dealer ?
  9. This number plate system is a mess to begin with. FZ - Re-registered diplomat vehicles bearing DP-XXXX plates. Not quite sure whether 98-XXXX ones were given FZ plates EA - onwards - This was opened for motor cars in 18/19/300/301/302 and 32/64 categories to re-register under new English number system. This was opened for 325 - ones as well. 325 was originally given for converted re-registrations and some ex-military vehicle re-registrations.
  10. I've had a March AK12 with KE- plates for a little while recently. contrary to the popular believe, it returned 13-14 kmpl during city running. sold around 2.8mil last year. I'd say add that into your list and evaluate. if you can stretch the budget a bit, Viva Elite will be a good choice as well. Watch out for lemons changed hands frequently with tampered mileage though.
  11. Let me also add Lancer C11/12 into the equation. Highly underrated yet FWD modern car in affordable price range.
  12. May I suggest a bit of a practical fuel efficient daily drive but not a Jap still it's reliable and a decent car. Perodua Viva Elite. If you get hold of a premium version then it has ABS plus few other bells and whistles than the ordinary version. Price wise it'll be slightly above 3.0 mil mark
  13. What's the vehicle, model. Hardly anything can cause a humming noise from alternator when only ignition is switched on. in order to isolate the problem, can you disconnect the 12v+ wire from the alternator and switch on the ignition to see whether the humming noise is still there or not.
  14. for AE/CE 1XX series wagons / vans, you can easily distinguish by the chassis code. Van would start with AE/CE 106 or 108 where as original L touring and G touring chassis number will start from AE/CE 100.
