  1. one reason 1.6l was made was for markets who have engine capacity based tax structures, such as singapore.. I've used this car for over two years now... so far only changes done were the oil and air filters!! Not sure about the tyre size difference... the Brand new came in 16" for both versions...
  2. Sorry...I thought U were looking at the second hand market for probably the newer ones... if you can get a good one at that range, suggest you go for it...
  3. I believe the model available here is officially called FD4 ..(They've FD1s, FD2s, etc in US..)... as the cars are brand new / under 4yrs old max, it's difficult to identify issues... but so far no complaints from people I know... including our family!!! Can vouch that it's a great car in handling, comfort and pick up... Personally speaking , we looked at the 1.6l version, and not the 1.8l, as things such as sun roofs and cruise control don't mean anything in this country... As for the budgets, I'm not sure whether it's available for that range, unless U R lucky... believe the brand new price with agents is 6Mn, and the second hand market will be in the 5-5.5Mn range... hope this helps..
  4. Well in my motoring life I've used both as well... but haven't seen much of a difference between the two types in terms of troubles..... and one of the diesel cars has done around 180k now... the requirement I think is regular maintanance... without which, any car would breakdown...
  5. Meaning there's some advantage in going for the city than the Fit Aria? I thought only difference was the badge.... and that the Singapore second hand market will jack up prices the same way as the Japanese, due to increase demand here....
  6. Exactly... and the 1.5L engine will surely have a better power/ weight ratio than the 1l or 1.3l Beltas, which are nearly the same weight... the published consumption figures may not be true for any of these cars for our roads... but I feel the Aria / City will give an acceptable 8-10km range for a sedan... with a better Zip than the Belta... (and more importantly, at a few lakhs less too.. )
  7. May be a tad OT, but since we are talking about the fit here, why not think of the Sedan version, which is the Aria / City? Cmes with the same wheelbase, to my knowledge.... I've been in one, and it's got a lot of space thanks to the position of petrol tank, etc... the dash and wheel gives somewhat of a civic feel... and I heard the unreg prices of the 1.5L auto (Not triptronic) are around 2.6 - 2.7Mn under new scheme... just a thought... this may be the best sedan for a reasonable budget..
  8. No surprises there, isn't it? pity such good cars are sold by the idiots...
  9. Aaahh... so Maruti DOES have something common with the Allion, eh..
  10. Must say I too agree with Harshan & Ripper... Going by the possible effective reductions, there may not be any Brand new non indian / non Chinese car that'll come down to 2Mn mark. Why not wait until all the main agents come out with their new prices, possibly within this week?
  11. An year ago, yes. Now the 1.8 fully loaded sell at 10Mn and 1.6 is priced 7.9Mn by the agents...!!
  12. May be he's keen on becoming a dealer for this product, and wants to create some interest, eh? In which case, what he needs is a better marketing / branding advisor...
  13. If you are still in the hunt, checkout the place right opposite Dehiwala police station, (NOT Amila tyre) if you are closeby. they should have a useable, set of same size, removed couple of weeks back and......previously owned by me! PM me if you need the contact no or directions to the place.., but I don't know whether the set is sold or what price they'll charge...

    Engine Mis

Just to add my two cents... why not try cleaning the dust with compressed air / vaccum? I've tried this and has yielded quite good results...
  15. From these two choices, I'd go for the 185/60R 15.... 60 is probably a more comfortable ride than the 55, easier on suspensions and may be cheaper as well...

    N 16 Super Saloon

By the way, a new face lift is available now at Agents and they offer the 1.5 (or 1.6, can't remember which) version. and it costs some 6.75Mn!!!! Wonder how many will buy....
  17. Thanks, even though the responses are coming a few months later...! .. will check out Armorall... Do they have a seperate cleaning product such as a shampoo as well? To Miniace - does the matt polish actually increase the cabin heat? wouldn't the heat reflected from a shining surface do that more?
  18. After a few service stations including three agents, my experiance is, best way to get the job done is to hang around the vehicle, else, you are not guarenteed of a risk free service... From washing the engine bay of modern day petrol cars tp good interior cleaning... it's not really the service station... almost all the station with proper equipment can provide same level of services, however, if the fellows assigned to do the job on a particular day are the types that consider themselves experts on automobile engineering and decides to improvise, and U R not around... then you might have problems...
  19. Now that's interesting... wonder how many consider Toyota cars as ones you "have fun in" ....
  20. Mate, any reason for saying this? I've no experiance with diesel Beemers, but the diesel Japs I've used didn't cost me anything significantly more, compared to the Petrols from the same makes... as long as proper maintanance is done, a few rupees difference for a filter or two doesn't make a difference.. this, is my personal experience, and open to be challenged
  21. Or check the place opposite Dehiwala Police station... Ravindra tyre house if I remember... they have the computerised facility and are ok as far as I know...
  22. Hi, there were several threads on the subject... use the search in AL home page... but If I remember right, the opinions were divided as usual... but you may get an idea on the options to match the requirement you've got in mind...
  23. yeah right.... how do you explain the downgrading ECU thingy? a typo or new technology..
  24. wonder whether his second name is Nilantha.... after all both names start with an "N" and the Allion (non Crisco version) is a Toyota..
