    Changing Timing Belt

Thanks for confirming miniace! Really appreciate it... I intend to take my car to A*W for a check-up soon, will ask them to "check" the status of the chain as my car has run ~120,000 already.

    Changing Timing Belt

Guys, any idea what the 1998 Nissan Wingroad Y10 with GA15DE engine uses, chain or belt?
  3. Based on the above replies, I guess the first step is to take my recent purchase for a diagnosis (fault: excessive fuel consumption), and probably do a tune up. As this is my first car, not used to garages or mechanics yet. Can anyone recommend a good place to the above done (from a 1998 Nissan perspective)? The only place I know off is A*W
  4. Ripper, thks for your reply. I actually chged the engine oil, filters & transmission oil the week after I bought the car. The "full-tank" analysis was done after that, so I guess that option is already done, huh...
  5. Thanks miniace & Arc Angel for your replies. miniace - I did do the way you have written. Pumped full, ran 185km, pumped full again which cost me Rs3200. I think thats the correct way to do the "full-tank" analysis right? Arc Angel - its an Auto, WFY10 frame. Any more comments? If something does look really bad with my fuel consumption figures, any advice the next step to take?
  6. Hello all, ok, so now my 1st car is 3months with me. Still learning all the quirks of owning a motor vehicle, but learning a little every day. I did my first "full-tank" petrol analysis and found out that my car did Rs3200 fuel for 185km. I guess that equates to 6.76km/Litre? If correct, is this a good figure for a 1998 Wingroad (Engine: GA15DE)? Seems too poor to me (All the running was within Colombo, approx 50% in rush hour traffic)
  7. Hello all, My 1st post on my 1st car, hope you can help out a newbie... My car: Nissan Wingroad Y-10 (1997/98) I noticed when I travel alone or with 2 pax, the car acts normal on bumpy roads. However, when we have 2 people in the back (4 in total in the car), the rear tends to scrape or touch bottom on bumpy roads, especially during reversing. I noticed anyway with 4 people in the car, the rear is rather low, which is surprising for a station wagon. I did a shock & brake test at Nalaka Tyre House, and they told me all my 4 shocks are bad. 1) Can you please look at the attached report and give me a 2nd opinion as to whether ALL my shocks are really bad? I only notice the rear is low. http://img515.imageshack.us/my.php?image=s...treport2lz9.jpg 2) If shocks are not too bad, is there an alternative to lift the rear (safely), in a more economical way? Cost of new KYB shocks for rear are Rs3790/= each 3) Also, in the brake test, the "Ovality" for my rear types came highlighted (13 & 14), but the guy there said nothing to worry. Is that true? Thanks in advance guys... Wingy
