  1. @jdnet: I understand what you mean. I am not trying to suggest in anyway that Allion A18 is a fast car in absolute terms. I am just comparing A18 and FD1. Allion is better built, more spacious, far more economical and seemingly faster in speeds accessible on most Sri Lankan roads(up to 100kph) than FD1. So I am trying understand why someone calls FD1 the better car.
  2. Sorry as for my question on the price, I meant the prices of 2nd hand Allion 260s. On the subject of FD1 vs, ZRT... I checked out a few FD1's recently and found the FD1's interior quality quite underwhelming and I think the Honda 5 speed automatic gear box delivers less acceleration to 100kph than Allion A18(260)'s CVT. Why do you reckon FD1 is a better overall car than A18(260)?
  3. Are A18 ZRT 260 prices also considerably less than A15 NZT260s? How much would be well taken care of ZRT 260?
  4. I certainly agree that FD1 is a better car than Allion 240. But how about the comparison between ZRT260 (A18) and FD1? I know the former costs more but price aside which one is the faster car to 100kph from a stand still? I think the Allion with CVT GB is faster?
  5. Let's hope same goes for Peugeot too.
  6. I think this time Alonso was too confident. Never-the-less IMHO the best man won!
  7. OMG I am almost in tears my most favorite driver of all time Kimi back on the podium :music-smiley-009: It's priceless to have Kimi commenting in post race conference in his characterristics style again.
  8. don't be too hopeful for mercs. they have a very bad record for long runs this season.
  9. premio 75 and allion 85!!! i think this dude just rang a sale and asked for prices of each model without paying attention to YOM, options, Grade etc. Usual goosip lanka bull shit it seems.
  10. No it may even be a newer WRX with higher revvs than B4. i also heard tax is for address, so either I re-register one vehicle with different address or get caught to the tax. you also got 2 cars right?
  11. I actually learn about this plan back in March and been planning for it. Didn't know it is going to take place so soon, looks like I have to act quickly now. Damn!!!
  12. Then why not go for a 2 seater like Honda Integra Type R? Beautiful high revving engine!
  13. I bought http://www.autolanka.com/ad.asp?ID=66265 back in January (Previous user has left without putting down the ad). Following is based on my experience. A good friend of mine has a tiptronic, I have driven his car quite a bit too (Spirited driving and cruising both). Tiptronic is slower (15hp down on stock anyway) and is less fuel efficient. My manual does 6+kmpl under a combination of traffic, cruising and spirited driving. My friend's tiptronic does 5+kmpl. Prices range from 1.8m to 2.5m depending on condition. I paid 2.3 since agent highly recommended the condition and history of my car + it's a manual. Positives... Decent speed and handling (better on paper than most V6s and I6s) Leg space is generous compared to regular cars Build quality is better than regular cars Looks quite good in my eyes More comfortable than WRXs Boxer note, pronounced by Fujitsubo exhaust is such a delight to the ears Negatives… Noticeably lower G-forces (driving thrills) than STIs (blame the lower torque and higher weight than STIs) Engine is “relatively” poor at high revs (blame the lack of forged pistons of STIs), subjectively I prefer the much slower but creamy smooth engine of my wife’s Cefiro Much less wide than rival mid-sized saloons like Cefiro, on paper B4 is only as wide as an Axio. This means rear passengers get cramped-up when you dump in a baby seat into the back (Personally this is a very big problem for me) Less comfortable than rival mid-sized saloons like Cefiro Parts are expensive Hidden harder plastics here and there demean the build quality
  14. I have ridden in the Blue sedan VZR. I loved it to bits. I really miss high revving machines.
  15. Thank you very much for the information Gayan and Carbon. I am planning to go to Nadeera due to proximity, I shall keep you guys posted after I visit Nadeera. BDW I figured there's quite a few Subaru owners in the forum. Is there a club of any sort?
  16. there was a pulsar sr16ve for sale weeks ago in AL classified but it's no longer there. beautiful high revving machines they are.
  17. A very inviting prospect indeed, but I suppose it's very rare to find one.
  18. Jehan said he fixed a boost gauge on my car temporally to check everything's in order. But based on what Charith and Gayan said, I could of course get a second opinion. Who'd be the ideal person to get a second opinion on B4 TT set-up? Nadeera? BDW heard of a guy called Chana too(from down South), how is he?
  19. Civic Vi and ViRS both have 130hp. ViRS prices are over the top so I recommend Vi which should be faster on a stright line due to it's lower weight than ViRS while sharing the same engine. There are quite a few Vi's around and there are just as many fakes too. So ensure that the car you buy has VTEC solenoids and not just a Vi badge. How to check VTEC solenoid has been discussed in this forum so a search would help you. Perhaps the best way you can check whether the Civic you buy has the ingredients is to ask the owner to do 0-100 on a quieter road and you do the timing. I don't know whether a typical seller would agree to that though
  20. I hope Merc makes an impression this season. It's my favorite brand after all.
  21. You really have no idea about what you're talking here mate. You may be right about EK3 "without VTEC" with only 105hp but EK3 or EG8 with VTEC engine (130hp) already should do 0-100kph in around 9-10 to seconds with manual transmission. If you dump in Zakie's tuned-iChip(TIC) to that then you'd reach speeds that can match Carina GT (CGTs were even beaten by TIC SOHCs in drags). I had a Honda City with TIC and it could keep-up with 130hp, 0-100kph in around 9-10 to seconds EK3/EG8s. So you got many naturally aspirated choices before you consider less desirable forced induction options. BDW my Honda City did 11-12kmpl in rush hour heavy traffic under same state of tune that I ran the drags!!!
  22. Jehan@Senok told me there's nothing wrong with my turbos. Is your 1st turbo kicking in at 2500rpm? I feel mine is kicking-in much earlier at around 1,700rpm (Wiki say 2000rpm though) with plenty of grunt. But I don't feel enough of a punch when 2nd Turbo is supposed to come alive except when I am on 3rd gear or while driving at speeds in excess of 110-120kph.
  23. You're right Gayan, the 2nd turbo's power is more apparent only during higher speeds(100-120kph), it feels so damn annoying in 1st and 2nd gears. Any idea why this is the case?
  24. one of my daily rides is a B4 twin turbo (6kmpl) and the other cefiro (7.5kmpl). i wouldn't naturally like any fuel price hike as it hurts me a lot. but objectively speaking, i credit the government for removing subsidies and i hope the increase in petrol price contributes to little less traffic on the roads too. it's a tough choice to remove the diesel subsidy but sooner the better.
  25. really, i thought you got it fixed back then it self, considering your usage
