  1. Wow man good stuff. Lots of nice memories in the car right :wink :wink? I remember one of the first things you did after getting the car was to get the AC working
  2. Technically the answer got to be my current 2000 Subaru Legacy Twin Turbo Manual. But if the question relates to cars used as daily runners then out of the list that includes 1996 Nissan Pulsar FN15, 2001 Honda City VTEC, 1993 Toyota Town Ace, 1997 Nissan Cefiro A32 Excimo G, 2008 Toyota Axio X and the Legacy, Cefiro tops them all for overall competence. Surely it doesn't handle as good as Legacy nor is as fast nor is as new as Axio but is surely the overall winner.
  3. Is yours the Black Passat parked in the workshop near Bokundara?
  4. It's not like we haven't had so much fun driving on Galle Road. Old is gold, Galle road for me please. At least for the time being!
  5. i think i am about to find-out what's it like to live with an original Subaru, will see how it goes ... Boxer note is worth a bit of trouble I should say.
  6. @Don: I don't know an exact ''major'' technical reason as to why STI conversions that I know require quite a few trips to garage. Most of the time it's minor issues like engine misses, funny noices, car not pulling as much as it should. I suppose nothing goes like a well taken care of original.
  7. since you want the car only as a week-end car, conversion is ok. one of my close friends have one and trip to garange are not uncommon. story with other conversions that i know of distantly are not too different either.
  8. my budget was more than yours. i got a legacy twin turbo manual. For performance "alone", legacy is not the right car. wrx (GC cassis) is unacceptable to me in terms of interior and space, so i had to compromise hardcore performance and go for legacy instead.
  9. yes you should buy a joy ride before getting married. it took me 3.5 years to finally buy a joy ride after getting married, house building, baby raising and all the rest of it!
  10. why not call the agent And find-out. From the very little experience I have had so far, Subaru agent is very reasonably priced, at least for labor. i suppose they won't charge for the diagnosis if it doesn't require removing parts. Let me know if you need the number of the engineer at the agent and I can send it across in a personal message.
  11. Excimo G has electric seats and more options, aren't there A33 Excimo G's coming straight from Japan with non-deteriorating interiors? if so then I bet the interior will be better in Excimo G.
  12. happy motoring in 2012 everyone!
  13. bicycle events are really pathetic :sigh
  14. It is funny how some recommendation by "MOTOR TRADERS ASSOCIATION" made what used to be normal extra premium 2 Rs more expensive :lol. Ceylon motor trader's assocation better had carried-out some serious scientific tests to prove it's worth.
  15. Indian or not I am not sure, but brand new 2011 Toyota 141 that we have in our office is such an uncomfortable car that our members prefer going in other decade old Mazdas than in that. Axio (JDM Corolla) is a much better car than what Toyota Lanka imports. I would caution anyone from buying these 2nd rate products of even good brands. You end up paying only for a badge!
  16. you're not the only one who is excited. this looks very exicting and good news for a toyota crazed country likes ours.
  17. i use a shipping company based in UK to ship stuff meant for personal use. collection from the sri lankan joint (ceylon shipping lines) is not as much a trouble as one might think (half a day). besdies if the customs fellows realise that it is for personal use then you can get away with a small tax paid even without the "right connections".
  18. oh how can i miss this one. here goes my belated b'day wish to you VVTi.
  19. i guess vios would fit a double din sized player. double din players come with both 6.2 and 7 inch screens (fewer buttons or smaller sized buttons making space for additonal screen space when it comes to the latter).
  20. when you check-out a particular example of a vehicle then you can form a very good idea about it's interior condition. i guess an opinion formed based on a real example would be more conclusive.
  21. What would be a good price to offer for a YOM 2004, Nissan Cefiro J31 with Leather Seats, Sun Roof and about 60,000km on the clock? If anyone has any local knowledge/experience on the car then please update me on the following too. 1) Any special known issues to look-out for in buying a locally used car of this model? 2) Fuel consumption? I don't expect it to be good but anything below 6kmpl in rush hour traffic may make me think twice. Thank you.
  22. it was about 60k, IMO picture quality is better than some of my friend's and relatives sets i have checked-out. itz got everything except TV you mentioned. i don't usually watch any brain-washing local channels so i personally got no issue with that at all.

    Nissan Cefiro

unfortunately vast majority of A33s are unlike yours and therefore bring down the whole market perception down.
  24. I think Gilberts sell Alpine too here. I got my self JVC AVX-736 DVD player from Gilberts along with DLS speakers and am a very happy customer. BDW plz stay away from Advance Audio if you want a good customer service.
