Help To Identify Cvt Multimatic Gearbox In Es8
evilmak replied to kaushama's topic in General Automotive
Totally agree... Regular tranny fluid changes at 10-15,000km will keep your CVT running with no issues. There is also a transmission oil additive which is a proven to cure even cars with juddery CVT boxes. I guess it's a matter of time when the additive will be widely available in SL and then hopefully consumers will change their perceptions about CVTs! -
Help To Identify Cvt Multimatic Gearbox In Es8
evilmak replied to kaushama's topic in General Automotive
That is correct. Kaushama- are you having the famous start clutch judder at moving from standstill? This is a common CVT issue. -
Wish you a Very Happy Birthday Young Man!!..

There is a famous saying among Evo fraternity "Those who own Evos can't explain.... Those who don't, won't understand"

I did not know much about the Aria until I drove one recently. Surprisingly it is a very good car and is underrated. Was pretty pleased with the sweet iDSi Honda engine and the overall comfort, leg room etc. The car generally looks fugly and seems to be inspired by a "Kaputa". However, I think this is a good alternative to expensive Toyota's in SL. CVT gear box is of course a problem if not properly maintained. If you find a low mileage car with a CVT gearbox in decent shape you can still "cure" the cvt problem. If you want to know how, PM me.

M3! ... haven't you looked at the new Stang or the Camaro or a used Vette?.. Saw em in action back in Texas this summer and most are cheaper than an unreg Corolla's in SL!!..

Kim - no I didnt say that! If you can change engine oil everyday, longer the life of your engine will be!! BUT what I said was "changing the oil to a DIFFERENT BRAND/TYPE for no particular reason should be avoided" e

I use WURTH. Don't mix with tap water, get some distilled water bottles and dilute as prescribed in the coolant bottle. Wurth has two colors RED and GREEN. If your OEM coolant came with RED go with RED, if not go with GREEN. Important thing is to flush (if you see brown residue in the radiator) and change the coolant at regular intervals (at least once a year), don't worry too much about oxidization and aluminum corrosion and all, its nothing to get stressed about, compared to other maintenance areas you have to worry about in a car!.

Ah simple case then. Get a can of Mobil 1 ATF (Synthetic Automatic Transmission Fluid) and fill it up to the level mentioned. This conforms to Mitsubishi Diamond SP-II, SP-III. If you are paranoid like me and want exactly the same thing, goto UML and buy a small can which is OEM Mitsubishi Diamond SP-II.

Rear diff has two parts to it. - AYC Clutch Bath which uses Mitsubishi AYC fluid or Dexron III ATF - Diff which uses normal litre of regular gear oil 75w90 (Use Mobil ) This picture I found on the net might help: How do you know if Rear Diff Oil level is low? I hope you are not referring to the oil level in the small canister in the boot? That is the hydraulic pumping fluid for the AYC clutch. It has nothing to do with the diff. You don't need to touch it as it doesn't get dirty, but if level is low, that means u have air in the AYC pump lines.
-
Velocity - What diff are you referring to ? Front or Rear? Rear is very easy, just bleed and put Mobil 75W90. ACD/AYC has several oils (for the pump operation, diff) and have to be done meticulously or you can kill the tranny. You need original Mitsubishi Oils and for 75W oils (Mobil is good enough). Let me know what exactly you are trying to do, I can send you the service manual extracts along with part numbers for oils for 8 GSR. Is this the Yellow bird??

Ripper - day to day running replacements (oil filters, brake pads, air filters) are available with the agents and parts dealers and no problems. But if you need a specific part it's a night mare. I had to get parts like Speedometer cluster, gear box release fork boot, rear window frame etc. and couldn't find those anywhere. With the greatest of difficulty I managed to order the release fork boot through agents. But now I hear agents do a better job in getting parts down fast. But i dont have a Patrol anymore :-( isam - what exactly do you want from the manual? I have the electronics parts catalogue for the Y60 and can get you diagrams of parts/part#. Also i have a sales brochure for Y60 in PDF format.
