Hey it is a lovely write up. Enjoyed reading every bit of it.

As someone else has replied above you may want to check a carryboy canopy at ward place. The quality difference between carryboy and Alpha is not that much though. So as per your standards if Alpha is crap so would carryboy be. Anyway last weekend I saw a place near Kurunegala along Ambepussa-Kurunegala road which had plenty of double cab lorry beds and canopies (used ones). This is on to your left hand side when you go towards Kurunegala, you won't miss it. You may check there since they may have some domestic brands which are better in quality but you may have problems in sourcing parts if required. For example, replacement of the keylock of SnugTop canopy could cost about Rs 24,000/- including airfreight charges since the parts are not available in Sri Lanka. BTW why dont you delete your comments about how you drive? That is all not important to us.

Can You Register A Vehicle Imported On A Carnet
L board replied to rupasinghe's topic in General Automotive
Hi Rupasinghe. This forum is worst than the officials who send you from one office to another. The forum is dominated by owners of Trad Sunnys, Corolla AE100, Civic eg8 and alike. They can't understand what advice you require and do not have the mental capacity to do so. The response you got from most is what I see here everyday. Few jobless folks (a mafia as someone called once?) living in the forum and attacking the rest. It seems that they are more interested in knowing what your vehicle is rather than even attempting to understand what you need. So it is still better to go from one office to another until you sort out the matter and then you can educate these poor soles by posting how you did it. Wish you all the best. -
The price quoted by the seller is too high really. These usually sell below 2.3M. Why are you saying this is too cheap? Is it your own jeep that you have advertised?

Chithraka8, nano31 and kush. At least the three of you have given some valuable information to the originator. The rest was regular crap trying to be sarcastic about the one who posted the question, picking on capslock and grammer etc without addition any value to the soul who wanted to get some info.

Land Cruiser 200 Or 2011 Montero Or Discovery 4 ??
L board replied to jaliya63's topic in General Automotive
Jaliya you are getting a lot of investment advice from an automotive forum. A person with a Rs 400,000 budget would wonder why the hell a person with a 4M budget would want to analyse various options before investing in a vehicle. They would also comment that if you have such a budget, why would you want to spend all that on a vehicle rather than investing some part in gold etc. But the fact is that whether your budget is 400K or 4M or 40M, a rational person would analyse the options before buying a vehicle. You are at one league and the bunch of advisors are somewhere else. That is why there is such a big disconnect. I do not think a single person owning a LC200 or a Disco4 has replied in this thread. You have made your investments right in the past and I am sure that is why you are in a position to buy a LC200 or a Disco4 today so it makes me laugh to see the comments of our investment advisors advising you on this forum. I think you will have to get in touch with the right people who actually own the models you are looking at. Like someone has pointed out at the beginning itself, this forum is more for the ordinary and wanna be's. Although it is tempting, do not bother to reply to some of the silly comments and opinions you see here. Just not worth it. You have already made a mistake by throwing this topic in this forum. If you are in the Corolla 110, Honda EK3, FB15 league, well this will be the right forum but not for anything above. All the best with your search -
This is the most informative Kio Sorento Diesel discussion I have ever seen. 99% of the contributions are strictly on the topic. Phew what a focused thread this is! Can all you retards stop fighting like kids?

You seem to have a fundamental flaw in your brain to compare a double cab with a car.

Did you check at the agents Sathosa Motors? I used to own two Isuzu Troopers and the agents Sathosa Motors had all items that I ever wanted for maitnenance. They were reasonably priced as well.

2010 & 2011 Kia Sorento Owners What Do You Think Of Your Suv?
L board replied to YesinLegend's topic in General Automotive
That is so disturbing to hear. I would assume that Fenders and Bonnets are frequently required replacements (accident replacements) and agents taking 3 months to deliver them is not acceptable. By the way aren't these parts available in the second hand market such as Delkanda? -
Hi. My dad had a brand new S40 from 1999 which he used for 3 years. It was a 2L engine and did only 5Kmpl in Colombo. Outstations in did around 8Kmpl. The driving pleasure was highly commendable.

2010 & 2011 Kia Sorento Owners What Do You Think Of Your Suv?

The problem is this is Sri Lanka. In US & Australia people will look at facts, analyse facts, think outside the box and form opinions / perceptions whereas we are stuck inside a box! Look at the car sales, those who have imported used vehicles from Japan which are so called "unregistered vehicles" by us. 95% of them are Toyotas. That is because we are stuck inside the Toyota box. We cannot think outside the Toyota brand. When it comes to the second hand market we cannot think outside the Toyota and Nissan brands. In Sri Lanka even if some top professionals get together, do a fact based research on the reliability, performance, comfort, safety etc of various vehicles and come out with a report that rates Kia or Hyundai on top of the Japanese, our general public will say that report was a paid job by the Koreans. So our public will live with the existing perceptions forever and ever. -

Yeah I think the 60,000 story is not a reliable one. Something's not right there. -

Engine overhaul required at just 60,000Km??? That is so so disappointing.... -
"A must see vehicle" - Some bloody rare model that no one wants to buy "A must sell. Owner migrating" - Same as above "Serious buyers only" - Same as above "Very fuel efficient" - Yeah only that car! "Bargain price" - 10% above normal market price
-
Yeah they look bloody good..... I didn't ask them whether they would service Navara or not. If you call them, they will probably tell you.
-
Yesterday I took my vehicle for maintenance to Nissan agents service center at Peliyagoda where the diesel vehicles are serviced. I inquired about Navara and they said that it is not supported by them yet. That means that they do not carry spares for the Navara. They still offer the double cab D22 with QD32 engine which is quite different to Navara. So my interest for Navara crashed there! I saw few ads on Sunday news papers and Navara was available from Rs 4.6M upwards (imported from UK) with all options. However, I decided to stick to my D22 for now since the Navara is not supported by the agents yet.

Yes so please protect all your Toyotas like jewels. Do not run them. Do not park them anywhere unattended. The existing Toyotas will have more value than any thing else on earth The market value of exisiting 141 is expected to go up by Rs 20M. This is the biggest crisis the earth has ever faced.

You will never be able to reach a conclusion based on the replies to this post. There are plenty of Pro Corolla and Pro 406 fans here and both parties will put their points. There will also be lots of openions and theories of longer terms costs and benefits etc of both and you will end up where you are now. So you better buy the one that you have your heart and mind with
-
I guess you are still doing your initial fact findings. I was looking for one sometime back but settled on something else. I guess you are looking at a used vehicle (registered) rather than to buy brand new. While I was doing my search almost a year ago the 2003/2004 models (Petrol) were going around Rs 4M. The fuel consumption would be around 5km per liter. Quite a comfortable ride.

I am not surprised even if the Mafia you are refering to is present here in this forum as well. It is a forum and one of the best places to be present for the "Mafia" and spread their message of the market. You see when this mafia wants to buy your used vehicle they say the market is down and the vehicles have no value and when they want to sell they say the market has had no hit at all and no one has brought down the prices. Whether the import duty goes up or down, the mafia is there to take the maximum benefit.
