Does Wurth, bosh or other brands have silver coloured wiper housing? I've been using a brand named 'Air' and its not that good i.e. - only lasts for 6 months or so.
  3. Is it true that putty won't completely dry if it is applied too thick and painted before completely drying
  4. Join the club! Its a pity that most mechanics try to fool their customers (most of the time fay fail, but the customers stay silent, because they got few other options to go to). Too bad the agents are doing the same. Not a repair goes by without my regretting, not joining the German Tech motor mechanic's course after the A/Ls
  5. I know this is difficult, but don't waste your time waiting for a job, you could learn more, maybe a MBA or a MSC ?
  6. Well Sparky toss the problem in AL and the AL bros would try their best to help you out.
  7. Interesting. Could you kindly PM me the contact? Thanks.
  8. Is it me or does he sound as if he is laughing at the misfortune of the country and its people? Some patriot!
  9. I've bought many stuff on ebay. They do arrive. But, be careful when selecting items. Brand new stuff would cause no problems I guess as long as you read the description carefully and follow the images.
  10. Hey Sparky, will PM you a painting contact. Regarding the rest of the stuff you can try out: * the stretch from Delkanda to Wijerama * darly road * panchikawatte * negombo road If you can arrange freight try on ebay too. Maybe talking to the Mazna motors guys may provide you more leads too. good luck with your search
  11. 1.8L has ideal power to weight ratio. So it could do better on fuel. Sylphy shares body shell with the N16 Sunny and Pulser, so body parts would not be a trouble, I've seen interior parts like dashboard at few spare parts vendors, so should not be a problem I guess.
  12. Great Idea! after 9th Apr pls.
  13. While wishing you a speedy recovery, I'm afraid I'd have to say I'm with others; sell and go for an original auto. Even if you managed to get the mechanical + electronic bits done it would be a major hazzle finding the interior bits like the meter panel, etc. If you intend to overlook the interior and have it as it is, it would bring down the re-sell value drastically. With your condition you will need to rest rather than running around trying to find parts (no garage guy will opt to find the parts for a decent price due to the hazzle, even if they agree they'll ask for some hefty sum of money). I'm afraid Supra and Don were right!
  14. Dang... GTAM. You are lucky. Thanks for posting the pictures.
  15. Got an exam till 9th, would be a nice treat for myself after the exam
  16. Got one on the jeep, originally intended for a reverse light, serves this purpose as well.
  17. The price of war is paid by us common people in the form of TAXES, which may well include vehicle taxes as well. Eh, mate there is something called 'work attire' which you need to obey. Some SL companies include the long sleeves and tie for this. And the employees have no choice of selection. Gee... don't you know that? Damn right, lets start from the government and the cabinet. coz we haven't got bling! He He... you sound like Wimal Weerawansa some time ago... Ok then, shall we start off with the vehicles and squad cars of the politicos Ever wonder why do sri lankans opt for a jeep over a car? maybe you would get some idea if you try to drive a car at 30kmph on Union place or some major road in Colombo. Try counting the number of pot-holes on the Colombo roads, er... while you are at it you can classify them as deadly, injury, minor accident and mild jolt. Most of the vehicle spare parts are imported, and hence more foreign exchange is lost, on top of the injuries and deaths caused due to bad road conditions. How about stopping these by repairing and maintaining the roads properly? All in all, its the common people who suffer and pay, who gives a damn about the country.
  18. Parak, the AL family cordially invite you to stay behind and put up with the bullshit the public transport offer!

    No More Blue Evo

Too bad there is one less hot ride on the streets of SL, but glad we still have the rider.
  20. Amen on that! Governments are no good when it comes to management of transportation But they should intervene in regulating them
  21. Finally I got one of these tubes from Wijerama spares shop and checked the insides, guess what? it was an empty tube So, the final conclusion is: When the turbo is on full spin the tube like thing will be a vacuum. The air mass pumped from the turbo will be pushed into the engine. When the driver let go of the throttle, the turbo is still spinning at a high speed but the pumped air has nowhere to go because the engine is not accepting it. The tube like thing would come to aid at this point providing a compartment for this extra bit of air trapped in the system. All in all the tube like thing is a pressure regulator. Many thanks for all your input.
  22. Thanks for reading my post. Got a new motor for my Jeep and the mechanic said its better to flush the cooling system before commissioning the rig back on the road. I've got an ABR* radiator flush and the shop owner said that I need to topup the cooling system with water and the stuff in the cannister and run for about two days before draining it and re-filling with coolant. The label on the cannister says it would suffice an idle run for about 10 minutes to clean the whole system. When I quoted it to the shop owner he said a 10 minute idle run would not be enough to clean any rust inside the block. My mechanic also opts the idle run for about 15 to 20 minutes before draining the system, washing it with water before topping up with coolant. Want to know what's the right way of doing this. Value your experience in this regard.
  23. Parak, bro haven't you traveled in the public transport ever? Its not timely, its uncomfortable, and the conductors are rude and so much profit driven they try to pack a ship load of people into a small bus. If the public transport were good I'd opt to travel in them rather than driving to work simply because there would be no parking or driving hazzle. Believe me bro, no Sri Lankan would opt to drive in the morning traffic, but thanks to the service level of our public transport everybody is trying their level best to arrange personal transportation. If you've ever been to a developed country, you would notice that almost everyone takes the public transport. Japan, the largest automaker transports almost all of its workforce by train. Their service is so efficient people simply opt for public transport. If the government is truly willing to resolve the traffic problem they should not be forcing people, rather, they MUST take steps to improve the quality of the public transport.
  24. Saw a blue WRX on High Level Road near Wijerama Junc. sometime back. It had a BOV fixed. The BOV sound was impeccable! Wonder whether the owner is a AL member
  25. I know a small time tinkering+Paint guy who does really good job for very reasonable price. PM me if you need the contact. His place is near Navinna.
