  1. Be careful of what's available on the local market- lots of fake/imitation (Thai-made) branded stuff. Not sure what brand Motorcade carried. That aside, Most people recommend HKS BOV, as they come with bolt-in kits for each kind of engine. Note that, most turbos already have a stock BOV/wastegate installed, so if you're going to get one for the infamous boost release sound, go with something is properly configured for your engine, else there is room for problems.
  2. Sounds like the engine might be advanced a bit too much. Get a second opinion from A*W or qualified mechanic...
  3. The process of a "cut" in the Cut&Polish process removes old wax layers and a tiny bit of lacquer. If you want to do this on your own, you need to use a "Rubbing Compound"- but strongly recommend you get the professionals to do it. There's enough threads on who is out there...
  4. I'll echo Max's sentiment. If its just A to B, you can't beat a Toyota- they're like the energizer bunny...keep going & going... That said, i voted E30- as a former owner i can say a well maintained car will give Toyota equivalent service, with the added kudos of street cred. If you're mate is looking for a little <more> than just a set of wheels...this is my recommendation. Yes, it *might be* more expensive when it comes to parts, but usually a replaced part will last the better part of 10 years...a well maintained car will be solid as long as you take care of it.
  5. We can probably argue this case till the cows come home... Some products where the general market leader is more than adequate...for eg. Tu*tle W*x. but there is something to be said about the more expensive items as well. One of the true tests of a good wax (aside from a mirror finish, in my opinion) is the absence of the 'dry white' once the polish is done. So far, only 2 brands have met my expectation. Both are on the higher end of the price spectrum. Apart from wax, there are tyre shines, alloy wheel cleaners i've found on supermarket shelves do a great job. I can't comment on the leather treatment products as yet...but i've seen some work done using "Three-Em" and it looks good to me... Nothing beats researching on the internet to see whats out there...a lot of pistonhead forums have product reviews that can make or break a product...
  6. Metallic Colours, unlike flat, "burn" in the sun so once a repaint is needed, you are sure to get a shade difference compared to a fresh coat of paint. So to the perfectionist, a total body repaint might be the way to go. That said, i think Applebee mentioned that his scratches are minimal- so you should be able to get away with a good cut&polish. Kl*enpar* or P*tst*p have stellar packages for this. P*tst*p uses Autoglym polishing products, and there is a specific package for scratch removal and paint renewal... Note however, if your scratches are deep (ie. to the primer/undercoats), don't expect complete removal... good luck.
  7. Happy B'day Mate!
  8. I don't think there is such a thing as 'non-chinese' branded alarms. You do however, have higher quality, American branded (Viper, Crimeguard) or British (Clifford, Hornet)...but i believe these are still manufactured in China, Korea or thereabouts. Its just a question of branded vs. non branded. Quality is probably what you end up paying a premium for.

    Impreza

Hey Guys- for security reasons, our network blocks upload/download activity...so won't be able to post pics. But in brief- got a hold of an Ash Grey WRX STI V, 1999 Original Import (brand new) with 27,000kms on the clock. Has all the STI goodies, and a few zero sports/MRT add ons. Not going to race it/modify it...its more than fantastic in its current state...Needless to say, i will be biased towards the Subaru camp here-on

    Impreza

In terms of practicality, i think the Impreza might fall short of say, the (boring) styx cars such as Corolla, 3, Sunny... On looks though, the older cars have very unique identifiable characteristics...until the 2008 model, which looks quite generic sadly. I can't comment on the NA cars, but can vouch for the turbocharged models- they are different beasts. With the signature boxer thrum and great handling...its a great alternative to the much-appreciated Evo. Like all high performance cars though, they don't do well when hacked and abused- but if constantly and carefully maintained...they are very easy to live with- if one ignores the fuel consumption 'issue'.

    First Few Kms

Check the User manual- must have information about the run-in period. Usually, not to exceed a certain RPM range and speed.
  16. Well, i can't speak for using a cover daily- but even by taking off a cover once a week, you can pick up some dirt if you're not careful. What i've found works well is to roll up the cover as you take it off the car. Problem is if this is outdoors, it's not practical, especially when its raining. But if you can do this under a roof, it should work without too much trouble. The trade off will be that you *may* end up picking up dirt that *may* scratch your paint, but usually its nothing a wax can't take care of. Surely beats having the cats making out on your hood.
  17. The old school Cami and Daihatsu Terios are one and the same vehicle. Built in the recent years in Malaysia by Peroduo, with different badging. IMO, finding either vehicle is ok, as long as its in good condition of course. Based on Daihatsu mechanicals, its pretty hardy and reliable. Given its size, it has a narrow cabin and its not comfortable on long hauls- as a mini-suv has a choppy ride. Given its diminutive size and weight, its a good soft-off-roader, meaning it can take some basic off roading...but will struggle the more hardcore terrain. I've seen one advertised here on AL. Price is listed.

    Lancer Evo X

On the Delta blurb- while they are worlds apart in techonology, one can safely say that the Delta Integrale set the stage for the 4 door format (saloon) in WRC...with a similar road car coming off the production line. Up until then, most competitive cars were based on a sports car of some sort (eg. Lancia Stratos, Audi Quattro, Porsche 911, Ford Escort Cossie). On the Evo blurb- Even Mercedes and BMW used the Evo suffix for their limited edition 1992 E30 M3 and 190E 2.5-16 Evo I&II so i guess it only stuck with when Mitsubishi used it...most likely because it sounded a whole lot better than saying Lancer!
  19. Happy B'day Pila- have a good one!
  20. I believe Toyota Lanka had a launch a few weeks back...there's a few cars on the road already. This is not however, the JDM car- I believe this is similar to the what is sold in Thailand/Singapore (made in Thailand)- i'm not sure which one (Thai or JDM) is being brought to SL. As for the interior- bit of a quandry, as its not the interior in the cars from Thailand. It is however, the same interior found in the Corolla sold in Australia. Which has the similar exterior looks. Go figure.

    B4 Tt

Wasn't there a problem the B4TT had with our SL fuel? I recall some dialogue regarding poor performance and failed injectors or something like that. Not to burst anyone's bubble, but considering its an expensive car to run, best not to go for something that will give further trouble???
  22. there's already a thread on this- if you do a search, you'll find it...
  23. Apparently they enlisted the programmers of the GT games to help with designing the OS on the monitor system- a true testament to where this car made its mark!
  24. Officially, SL was cleared of any wrong doing. The error was that of the Tower control, by allowing two large aircraft onto the same approach. The SL pilot had actually deviated 3 metres off the instructed course thinking they're too close...and yet it happened. Anyway, our plane's back in service, although the BA 747 needs a new winglet...
  25. Definitely a Kitted job. Rear Camber should be far more negative, and the suspension sits too high. But still, it took a second look to figure it out. Easiest way is if Triptronic can confirm whether there was a back seat/back seat passenger...
