albertho replied to L board's topic in General Automotive

KLM, nope i meant the 3Door short wheel base ... they call it the RUB'3 (slang) in this region. Velocity : '08 Pickup full option 30,900US$ (toyota dubai). '08 3door shortwheelbase is 28,500$ from Oman. 3months waiting because they dont bring in that many, 5 months waiting for the FJ cruiser !! Thx for the compliments .... lets divert our attention back to the beautiful white pickup here before i get arrested for thread jacking
-
Congrats again, after seeing this i went to Toyota to see for a pickup ... but 3 months waiting period and 30,900US$ for the full option with winch, over fenders etc. I just found out we can buy the 3door wagon from Oman for 28,500$ which is pretty reasonable and the family can drive it too :-) Oman Toyota has a secret agent in Dubai to offer the warranty & service too. I dont think Dubai Toyota will be too happy about that as Oman offers cars for around 1500$ cheaper than Dubai guys plus offer warranty & service !!! You're lucky, get some OEM cosmetics done (over fenders, alloys, etc) and it will look very nice !!! dont do anything to the engine, its good as it is and an amazing power to weight ratio. only department you'll have to look into is the bumpy ride ... guys here do something with the rear leafs, i will ask around and see what exactly it is. KotteMafia>i've sent you a PM Sold the Patrol and bought this : 4000cc 3 doors ... amazing in the desert only thing is front IFS ... compared to solid type available in the LC pickup/wagon/wrangler/patrol/ anyone heard that the Prado might change shape next year?

Wow .... a few arrived here in Dubai, they're about 110,000$ through the dealer. talk about markups ! only VVIP's received the 1st lot.

Ripper, many thanks for your email .... many thanks. it was tough to find a hi-res imagine online.

Hi guys, i require a hi-resolution image of the Sri Lanka flag. can someone guide me to 1 or email at [email protected] its for my integra ... something that can be clear around A4 size print. thanks in advance !!

all i know is Spoon Japan's garage --> Type One Garage recommends and uses Motul oil :-) so i guess its good.
-
nice pics guys !!! makes you really want to buy 1 when you see them. I really wanted 1 but sometimes its not practical with a family. I wanted the swb wagon of it, but its only available in oman and not in Dubai which means i'll have issues with service & warranty.
-
No turbo diesel's sold through the agents bro [only sneaked in through the border from oman ;-) ]... its just the 4.5 petrol and 4.2 diesel N/A. Those prices seem affordable, but then again ... having 3 seats as an only family car might seem unrealistic when you have to carry around parents and ancestors around

ROTA does it for sure .... but they require you to purchase 5 sets (of 4) for each custom order. This was done by our local ROTA dealer so i know its for sure. Cheap rims too, 15" rims costed me about 500$ for a set of slipstreams that i use with slicks. Cheap because its light (about 5kg each) and quality. http://www.rotawheels.com/

Congrats on the purchase, these Toyotas are real famous here in Dubai - used a lot by the locals in their farms and also by the forces. Proven offroaders and very mean looking !! are those prices you mentioned Permit prices? first time i went offroading in the Patrol, one of these Toyotas pulled me out :-)

+1 on your reply Pericles :-) The guy asked how is the RX8? Not is RX8 better than a Evo8. So i guess we should help him out ;-) cmon RX8 owners :-)
-
Looks like we have some RX8 owners here !! There is one more but he doesnt log on, his name is Chet from texas (Chatura Perera). He told me that he really enjoys the car and there is no words to describe that feeling ... so i guess its a good car. But owning one in SL is a different case i guess, you will definately need more $$$ to maintain it and im sure there are other cars that can give you equal or better performance for 1/2 the price of maintaining or buying an RX8? All comes down to personal prefference i guess.
-
Wow !! this sounds interesting Good luck guys !
-
nice video .... thanks for sharing !! is it me, but do you guys think the evo9 was just fooling around until the final lap? didnt have audio on the system while watching so i could be wrong.

Toyota Fortuner 4000cc 6km/litre (city) +7.5km/litre (highway) Nissan Patrol 4800cc VTC 3km/litre (city) 3.8km/litre (highway) These are in Dubai, not as much traffic as in colombo ... but just for your info !! The Nissan 4.8 has the worst fuel consumption i've seen in any vehicle.
-
I feel both these are very capable 4x4's ... it just comes down to personal preference. People here say wranglers are so great offroad here, owner's say "its a jeep thing, you wouldn't understand". I dont understand, coz I go anywhere a Wrangler does in my Neyzan Batrol (as they call it here heheh ) :-)
