  1. 1. Can anybody tell where to get a Sri Lankan Map to go in the Sat Nav please. To the best of my knowledge, there are no sat navs that will work with your current uk setup, you might have to go in for a set sold locally where the map is offered by the seller. 2. What is the best place to buy a sports canopy. Elcardo or if you dont mind doing some travelling, then go to Kurunegala and you will get this Hilux specialist who sells all kinds of canopies and accessories. cheers
  2. Does anyone know why the Toyota FJ cruiser is not available in Sri Lanka?
  3. Google "outdoorsman sri lanka" And for the rest of the stuff you're looking for, go to the 4X4 section in this forum.
  4. A computer power supply will suffice, There is a 12v line in a computer power supply so just hook it up to the regular power supply and enjoy!
  5. I heard a bag of sand at the back is a common solution. The Vigo is made in Thailand, where is the Hilux made?
  6. Hi I have been out of SL for some years now and am planning on returning next year. I am planning on getting a Toyota Hilux since I plan to go around SL (Camping etc..) But I am confused as to what Hilux is available in SL. Is there a Hilux and a Hilux Vigo?
  7. 3M Plastic cleaner is some what similar to Brasso, only more expensive. You can either use Brasso or Supercut (which is available at auto paint shops). And the job will be done.
  8. Wow I'm in love with the new Allion, bro can you pass me the website you picked this up from.. for further reading, appreciate it.
  9. Thanuja of Hedha is out of business and will not bring down K&N filters anymore. So no point calling him. Motorcade seems to be the only option..
  10. The interior on the Montero Sport is really really bad, it was fake wood and plastic, something similar to the Hyundai Sonata. Hilux is in my mind because of the durability and high resale. Planning on visiting most of these places to help make up my mind.
  11. Madmax, You just mentioned the same fears that I was having (Minus the hifi tech bits) My bro in law is all for the Kia, but my fear is that it's unchartered territory and I am not sure on how durable and trouble free these Korean vehicles are.. I come from a family that has purchased only Toyotas and I know very little of other brands and thier pro's and con's. The toyota Hilux is missing from your list and I am giving it some serious thought- It's a "common rail" diesel and all. What say you?
  12. Does anyone know how the Toyota Hilux is? It has a great reputation..
  13. Thanks Pericles for the heads up
  14. That threat has a few inaccuracies, in terms of the offers on SUV’s. For example there will be no RAV4/ Fortuner Diesel from Toyota. That’s why I made a new posting. My question is primarily to ask whether the Montero sport is better than a Sorento and secondarily whether there are any other better offers out there.. I believe my post is not guilty of “repetition”
  15. My bro in law is entitled to a permit and is keen on going in for an SUV. Due to the restrictions by the govt and the lack of choice we have finally come down to decieding between a Montero Sport or Kia Sorento. My questions are.. 1. Are there any more SUV's? 2. Will the Montero Sport or the Kia Sorento hold a good resale price (in another 5 years time) ? Appreciate your comments and advise. thanks
  16. I meant Dimuth, Cameras is his bread and butter these days, and he has a contact in Sg who sends him all the rare parts. I guess Madz has enough choice on where to give his camera now
  17. Adelphi is no more.. they have been closed for nearly 5 to 6 years now. I know the guy who used to fix camcorders, Will pass the number tomorrow morning. I give all my stuff to him
  18. Went and took a look at the Montero Sports diesel which is being offered for permit holders, its kind of basic inside with a really cheap plasticky interior. Was very disappointed by what I saw. Would love to get my hands on a diesel Toyota, cant wait for Toyota to show thier goods!
  19. Got off at Panchikawatte and went to ask for some advice from my fav "petti kade spare parts man" and lo behold! he had a genuine pair of German Bosch horns (even D*MO would have loved to get their hands on as they currently sell a low quality horn called Roots) I happily paid him 1000 bucks since he gave me 1 week’s warranty.
  20. Nothing much to look out for as clay bars are non abrasive, cut the clay bar and prepare it like a pancake which fits into your palm. Use a lot of lubrication (Since you have a kit I assume the lubrication is already there) and rub it all over the car. One word of warning, if you drop the clay bar on the floor- discard it and get another piece (claybars absord dirt very well) Surface preparation is important before you start claybarring. Make sure you wash the car and remove all tar spots, otherwise it becomes a bloody nuisance. And finally wax the car as soon as you claybar, otherwise you leave the cleaned paint open to the elements. Happy detailing!
  21. The FIAM was an orignal, and I bought it from the agent in SL. Will take a walk in Panchikawatte and check some stuff out, I heard that joints that sell european motor spares have good horns so will check it out and revert.
  22. Last time I checked they were out of stock..
  23. One of my FIAM Snail horns just got busted and my car sounds as if it'd got a sore throat. The price of my horn has shot up from 1000 bucks to 2300 bucks (FIAM is supposed to used by ferari and other Italian cars) I called D*MO but they dont have Bosch but another indian brand which I dont want to try... Any suggestions? Thanks
  24. What do you mean toolkit? Is it the jack and connected equipment or are you refering to stuff like screw drivers and spanners? As far as I know Toyotas dont come with screw drivers and spanners anymore (do correct me if I am wrong)
