  1. i wish tyrese gibson was in this too...he is a pretty decent actor(for a musician)
  2. some say it's at the germen tech...others say the open university..which is it?
  3. i agree with devinda...playing the high horse may get you some self satisfaction but there's no point, and it's too much trouble anyways...and don't go speaking in english if you are tan colored or black, because playing "kalu sudda" may piss them off even more..speaking in english is for "sudu kollo" only a couple of humble "athada ralahami" or "ehemai ralahami" might do wonders...i should know because acting humble and friendly saved me from some over-capacity issues recently...and both of those cops ended up being my friends... a word of caution though...do not get over friendly with any cop..i know a lot of businesses that went bankrupt because the owner got too friendly with his police "friends"...
  4. arrrghhh..my licence has faded too,but i only had one cop giving me trouble about it...recently no trouble...maybe the cops have realised about the shoddy plastic work too
  5. yep they are still bog standard SU's
  6. that's pretty great and all, but this is by far the coollest iphone application ever
  7. machang presuming you bought it because you loved to own a volvo and not just any car... i would never advice you to sell it and go for a jap car...granted, you may then get a very reliable car but i doubt you'l have fun with it,because you are a volvo man at heart. if you want to install a volvo engine badly,by all means go for it...just don't expect it increase the value of the car a lot or make it more sell-able....my advice is(the purerists would have me hanged for this) is to keep it as it is...you'll get the toyota reliability together with the volvo image, just don't open the bonnet in front of anyone good luck
  8. LOL..well gotta lot of cars i like to use as my wedding car...problem is finding a member of the female species that likes a grease monkey like me
  9. wow...that looks awesome...well done to milindu!
  10. yeah hey miniace, you getting married?
  11. it is...i've tried doing it myself by inserting a tube in to the carbs and trying to match the hissing sound they make while idling...was a very bad idea..i think i've f*cked it up even more...our old mechanic who passed away recently could tune them by just listning to the engine..genius he was good idea..i'll do that

  14. to tell the truth i've been wondering about that myself....is this for the senior members only?
  15. hmm i think your're right.your accent when speaking in sinhalese might have made the bugger think that you are drunk.
  16. LOL..could have sworn i saw one of these parked outside the coffee bean last week
  17. hmmm marawila eh?...does the same guy own a laser coupe as well?...he has some to do with a tyre shop and car rental thing if i'm not mistaken
  18. don't know if this news is true or not...but this guy is the second richest guy in the world!
  19. first of all mate, not all of these guys are after your money.it just maybe the matter of language difference or their attitude that makes you seem like they do...i do not blame you ,but most of the people like you(foreighners,ex-lankens) are brain washed by our fellow idiotic lankens in to thinking that all our cops are nothing but greedy scum,so you tend to face any SL cop with an unjust prejudice. however no cop can just SAY that you are drunk..he has to prove it...just ask for a breathelizer(baloon) test..plain and simple
  20. There are some who do a decent job but not a professional one by any standards.the trouble is they almost always go over the intially quoted budget, take more time to complete than they promised earlier and worst of all selling the cars components as spare parts to others because when someone comes in to their garage asking for some parts the temptation to make a quick buck is too much for them, and they will replace those parts with lesser quality/faulty parts or report them as stolen.there are one maybe two who are the exception.but the price they quote is enough to make you sh*t in your pants. so most of the owners either restore them at their residence or give it to the professionals of each category such as body work and painting to one company and the mechanical side to another so on and so forth...both of these methods are very time consuming and stressful to the owner. so coming back to your question,it is a very good business idea to open a professional restoration garage with reasonable prices, the main thing with these guys(owners) is to build their confidence in your garage, because you are asking them to leave their babies in your care.then the news will spread by word of mouth because the classic car community here is a very close knit and an exclusive group.so anyone want to give it a go?
  21. yep puzzles me too...but i think it's because the people concerned can't be bothered to go through with the legal process...they would rather get their car back as it is and try to restore it otherwise....
  22. it's nearly complete mate...the engines running and everythin...jus need to add the finishing touches that's all..but having a difficut time with the mga(black)...biggest problem is finding someone to sync the twin carbs..that and the lack of funds of course
