In that case Madz i assume its wise to just verify with the owner of the corolla as well....maybe it was bought on a transferable permit.......maybe give the bugger a chance to explain himself before tagging him a criminal hehe.......Innocent until proven otherwise isnt it guys?? Guys, This is just for my curiosities sake ok... Is this 5 year non-tranferable rule also applicable to the limted number of permits which certain govt servants were allowed to sell...for eg. senior SLAS officers.....They could sell their permits to outsiders.....but im not sure as to the rule of selling THOSE vehicles....any idea???? Ur talking abt minister's private secretaries who r the relatives..most official ministry secretaries r civil servants/government servants who have been in civil service for quite a long time....most of them being the puppets of the repective ministers is a different story altogether but they have served for quite a while. Yes ur true abt higher engine capacity issued to secretaries but was im talkin abt is the retiring civil servants one

Ya thats true... Heres a kicker for u...Retired Civil Servants receive a permit with 0% tax..which they CAN sell apparently....and i think the engine capacity is upto 3.8L

I dont think selling the permits is going to happen this time around machang, some new rules and regulations including placing a sticker on the license plate are to be introduced....it will be complicated....

I think thats an unfair generalization....majority of the people who r benefiting will be University Academics, Engineers etc. who have been serving the country for a long period, ignoring opportunities in the private sector where they could be earning more money.....so i think its just reward for some hard yards....

Thanks Mani for the reply...the noise does go away after I drive a bit....so i guess it is a loose belt...Im just wondering if this belt dressing is available in Sri Lanka...I have never heard about it before...any idea guys??

From what I have heard..both Ceypetco and IOC are increasing their prices again...which means IOC prices will still be marginally higher......its a lose-lose situation for consumers anyway....

Im driving a Mitsu Galant '99 model diesel 2.0L Super Salon......Since of late the belt of the car seems to be making that dreaded screeching noise, when the AC is on.....My dad said its prolly cos the belt is loose or something but went to the mechanics and they said its pretty tight and theres no problem...for my luck the damn noise didnt come at that time so they couldnt hear the problem..... The belt cant be burnt out cos the car has extreme low milage...just 12,000 odd even though the car was bought 7 years ago....we hardly used it cos i was out of the country and my dad doesnt drive it that much... Wat do u think the problem is?? Any place I can take it to get a proper diagnosis??? Thanks in advance Cheers
