Seen these videos many times. I know the M3 came out on top in the Car and Driver Review. But would it really make sense to own a 335i, a M3 and quite possibly an X3?

The 2007 onwards 911s come with PDK (Porsche talk for DSG), the GT3 is the only model to have just a manual tranny. That's a problem too, a garage full of bimmers would be boring.... Porsche is leading so far.

Kinda beats the purpose of having a sports car don't ya think?

Guys, if you were given $70k-$80K (hypothetically in the U.S) to spend on a weekend sports car which one of these would you get, and why? Within that budget some of the cars listed could be brought brand new, and the others used. The options are, BMW M3 Nissan GTR Porsche 911 Turbo (or 4S) Maserati GT. Anything else you would consider?

I'm with you on this one.

I'm a big advocate of wearing seat belts. I was lucky enough to walk away unhurt from a 180Km/h crash becuase I was wearing a seat belt.

Just got back from a BMW X3 launch event at the dealership. Got a chance to test drive the new X3 and some its competition. The new X3 also has EPS, and I was worried it would have taken away the BMW steering feel. Even though the X3 was AWD, and an SUV there was plenty of BMW feel in the way it drove. The one I test drove was the 35i which has an updated version of the 3L turbocharged straight six that is in my 335i. It's coupled to a 8 speed automatic. It was one of the best automatics I've ever driven, better than the 6 speed auto on the 335i. The response from the paddle shifters are almost instantaneous and you get that thud in the back , it could easily be mistaken for a dual-clutch system. In a way it felt funny, since you're sitting way up high like an SUV but it still drives and feels very similar to a BMW Sedan. I test drove the Mercedes GLK in the comparison - very mushy!

While I do respect those who were killed and injured, it goes to show even the safest car money could buy is not able protect one from stupidity.

I got this Teach-yourself-to-fly model last summer for around $80. It only weighs 38 grams, which means it doesn't have enough mass or momentum to break into peices even if it crashes. Plus let go of the throuttle and it will just glide to the ground. You want to pay one million more for a Tata-Rover?? LMAO. Infact Jaguar-Land Rover seems to be doing better in the hands of Tata, than it has been in the past couple of years. . If it was my decision I would get the 320D vs. the Freelander. However if the decision was a Rangerover Sport vs. X5, I'de take the Rangerover
