I owned the e46 325xi (x- AWD) only for a couple of months, never looked into doing any mods, so I have no clue. I'm not very familiar with the E36 either, all the beemers I've had are e46s, and hopefully the next is going to be an e46 too.
Nihal199, why don't you clarify these to prove you're not a phoney...
1. You say you've got an Audi A6 , but you get 26km/l on your Allion
2. For a guy that used to live in the US , your english is crap.
3. All 'your' American muscle cars are your granddad's.
4. You say you lived in Alabama but 'your' Dodge has Florida Plates and your Plymouth has North (or South can't make it out) Carolina plates
Now lets hear it?????
If it's CPO they offer warranty on it. But otherwise they try to SELL you a 3rd party warranty for an additional cost - which a lot of good reviews will tell you is a waist of money. These americans have a thing about buying extended warranty on just about anything!
Yep, if you check KBB, NADA or Edmunds, private party value is always about 2k-3k less than dealer price and the trade in is even less. I had to learn it the hard way.
No. Dealers keep a good 3-4k markup on the cars, by doing nothing more than some detailing. I made that mistake on the 325xi I had. You buy from a private owner with good maintenance history and you have some extra bucks left just in case an unexpected repair hits you. Like DHP on the forum said these cars car do nearly 200k miles without a motor rebuild if properly maintained.
I've been looking all way around. From Chicago down to FL and PA, NY. I bought my first SUV last year and figured out it just wasn't for me. And I don't drive a lot. Just a mile or two to college. So the car should be alright. If it doesn't work out I'll buy a winter beater for about 1000 bucks.
Im not talking about an 05. You can get an 05 C55 for 20k. But an 03 M3 cost almost the same. You can't expect very low mileage at that price though. Best bet is to find something that's been well maintained.
It's not bad at all. And some folks prefer it over the manual because the manual's shift fork is a little vague. And most of all it's not easy getting used shifting with your right hand when you've been doing that all your life with you left! Test drove a manual M3 yesterday and ended up shifting to 1st instead of 3rd a couple of times.
Good news for all you bimmer fans! The decision is final. An M3 it is! Test drove one with SMG yesterday and I must say I'm impressed! I'm not even going to bother trying out the Merc. Awaiting to get my hands on what will be my 4th E46!
Thanks! That's a lot of information! I've already sold the 325xi. Now have to make up my mind about what to buy. BTW the kid's 2. No plans for another one. Wife sits upfront so the baby seat can go behind her. Heading out to see two M3s in a while.
