  1. I am looking to buy a good car seat for a pet project. A seat removed from a discarded luxury car would be ideal. Trying to keep the costs low, so don't want to buy a new one. Make/model doesn't matter as long as the seat is comfortable and can be adjusted using manual or electronic controls. Where should I look for one? Any suggestions please? Thanks in advance!
  2. Two Sri Lankans are taking part in this event. We will be updating the Four Wheel Drive Club web site with news and pictures.
  3. Photos from day 1, both by Sanjaya and me, are on the way now.
  4. Photos from the promotional/scrutinizing event at Excel event are now available on the FWDC web site. :-)
  5. Sadly no. I wish I could have. I'm redoing it completely. Not any radical modifications, but probably a paint job, replacing few body parts etc.
  6. Apart from the extreme nature of the event, there is another side to it which the pictures do NOT show. This time we didn't allow the support teams to come in, which means that each team had to be able to survive two days in the jungle, do their own repairs with available resources etc. This brought out some really good qualities of the competitors, and also developed a strong bond among each other. They helped each other to do fixes when needed, and recover in DNF scenarios, and no one was left behind in the jungle when we left.
  7. Sorry about not replying any earlier. Was away, and just managed to get on to the Internet from Sigiriya. Thanks! By the way, I thought they call me Anuradha, not Anuruddha. Will upload them as soon as I sort them out. Sorry about the delay. I was away on another trip, so couldn't come for the first Waters Edge event (the prologue).
  8. Photos from 4x4 Challenge 2007 are now officially available. Day 1 Day 2
  9. Hope you saw my Veyron photos.
  10. There are loads of similar, and better, stuff all over the Web. But there is always this thrill of taking them yourself and sharing with friends. So hope that this post will not be frowned upon as common stuff. Anuradha
  11. Hi guys and girls, I happened to take some photos last Saturday. Hope you'll like them! Ferrari Maserati Lamborghini Rolls Royce Bentley Bugatti Enjoy! :jumping-smiley-013: Anuradha
  12. Uploading of all photos is now complete.
  13. Nope. This is a borrowed camera. My love affair with Canon is not likely to come to an end during this life. Planning to get hold of a Canon EOS 400D (or a 350D) one day soon.
  14. Photos from the first GT event are now available, and the rest is on the way. I think the photos starting from no 300 shows the Aravinda / DJ contact. Please confirm.
  15. Photos from the day 2 are now on the way. :-)
  16. My pictures from the first day (not open for public) are here. Enjoy! PS: It's about 2 am in the morning now, and I'm still uploading photos, so the number of pictures at the above link is growing. There are altogether 548 images. Hope the upload will be finished soon so that I can get few hours of sleep before the planned early start for the second day.
  17. My photos are now on the official FWDC photo gallery. Enjoy! The Rally was great! Will try to do a blog post if and when I get time. :-)
  18. Indeed! Mine wasn't working when I bought it either, but the problem was to do with the vacuum-based automatic hubs rather than the gear, and is easy to fix at home. You'll need the workshop manual (available here to download). However, I'm flirting with the idea of getting down a more reliable manual hub.
  19. Depends on the year of manufacture, mileage and condition. But 1.2 is not way off I suppose.
  20. I'm working on the web site itself, and not its content, with the notable exception of photos. But I hope we should have an official account of the event anytime soon. As Praveen also mentioned, it's more of a courtesy rather than a legal requirement IMHO.
  21. All the pics are available now: Day 1 Day 2
  22. Ok here are the pics from day 1. Pics from day 2 are way too exotic than these. Still trying to finish erasing number plates from them before uploading.
  23. Hey sorry, this number plate removal takes ages. I'm trying to create a small script to automate it to some extent.
  24. Yep. 1296cc to be exact if I remember right. This group on flickr gets good Jimny photos.
  25. I was looking for an off-roader two years ago. My budget was a bit lower than that, but considering the price changes, what you can buy is in the same range. I had three options in my list: 1. Suzuki Jimny - second hand 2. Daihatsu Terios / Toyota Camy - second hand 3. Maruti Jipsy - brand new You also have options like buying a made up BJ40 or an old Mitsubishi jeep - or to buy one cheep and make it up yourself. I didn't go down that path. I went for the Jimny. Jimny is a serious off-roader, and no compromises made by Suzuki to make it too tarmac friendly. It's not bad on the road, but not as good as a car (obviously). However, it's way better than any old Jeep like BJ40 or a Mitsubishi when it comes to road handling. However, when pushed to perform, it can also be used as a road racer in the city, which we do daily. ;-) Outstation is a different story, as it is not very stable over 100kmph. I know of few motor enthusiasts who have said a lot of good things about the Terrios's on-road handling. I checked up one for about 1.8 few months back for a friend - which was better than average with some extra options. The downside of the Terrios is that it is not as hardy as the Jimny. The only Maruti Jipsy I checked was at the dealer showroom, and didn't like it because it didn't have power steering, factory fitted AC. There is a detachable hard top, though.
