Ah the Ambassador Horns.... had them some time back on the Mini before the Hella and FIAAM ones were available. Strangely enough, my brother and I have had 2 Hella sets fail and replaced but the old Roots ones are still working ! By the way, do fix a relay if your car hasn't already got one... best to let an electrician check it out.

There was one advertised for sale (without the Skyline face of course...) a few months back in one of the car sales in Kirulapone

Unfortunately my picture does not show the badge clearly enough,... but I was quite shocked this morning to find that I was following a DAIHATSHU "NAKED" !....

The Last Rear Wheel Drive Corona was the T140 which was discontinued in 1989. (as per Wikipedia...)

Own one myself. Problem that is being referred to is a manufacturing defect in the crank and cam angle sensors of the cars with QG series engines (sensors which are used to fire the electronic ignition instead of a distributor) In any case this is a fairly inexpensive replacement. Almost all of these cars by now have had the faulty sensors replaced. (mine included...) On the other hand A*W has a special mobile service equipped to quickly fix any electronic breakdowns.. Some FB15s have been known to have faulty Airflow sensors... which is a little more expensive repair. But here again all the faulty parts would have been weeded out and fixed by now. My car (YOM 2000) has run for over 5 years now without even one single fault.

Got 4 turned out of stainless steel for the Minilites.... factory plastic ones brake too easily.

Been running a Manual one for the last 5+ years, pretty good car. 1500cc, pulls reasonably well and good on fuel. Comfy interior and it has a huge amount of space inside when needed if you fold the seats down. Mine came with a factory body kit which tended to rub on the ground on our bad roads. Upgraded the wheels and tyres - 15" alloys with 195/65 profile rubber and it solved the problem and improved the looks quite a bit too..... The only issue i had with the car was a faulty crank angle sensor back in 2003 which was supposed to be a factory defect and was replaced by A*W in 10 minutes. Not one single fault since then.

Actually it's 91 Octain fuel with some additives included. Petrol Pumper guys at IOC tell the customers that it boosts the Octain to about 93... but it that is true they can simply sell it as 93 octain fuel. I Used it for about a month (3 full tanks) and at first I felt that there was no difference cause the car pulled just as well as on 95, but the economy dropped from 9.5 to about 8 km/l consistently. When I switched back to 95 the first thing I noticed was how much smoother the engine ran (Nissan QG15 Lean Burn Engine) and the economy went back to the old normal levels. So for me it was an experiment that didn't work out ......

Thousands of drivers in Italy are expected to seek compensation after it was revealed that a system to catch them jumping red lights was rigged. More than 100 people, including police officers, are being investigated as part of the fraud. The T-Redspeed system - a revolutionary camera technology - has been in use for two years in 300 areas across Italy. Cameras linked to traffic lights capture 3-d images of vehicles if they jump the lights or are speeding. It can also detect offences like illegal u-turns. It is believed more than a million drivers have been trapped by the system. But it is now claimed the lights were rigged to change from yellow to red in three seconds instead of the regulation five or six seconds. The fraud was uncovered by a senior police officer who noticed an unusually high number of fines being issued. Instead of an average 15 fines a day in some places, the figure jumped to more than 1,000. The fraud may have netted as much as $170m (£116.4m) for those involved. The scheme's inventor is now under house arrest, though his lawyers say he is innocent. More than 100 other people including 63 police commanders are also being investigated as part of the scam.

That particular batch of 146s had numerous problems... including unpredictable airbags which went off if you drove over a pothole

Sure, They'll allow you to insure the car, but you may have some complications when making a claim against the policy since you're not the registered owner.
-
This is normal practice in other countries where the premium you pay depends on your age, number of years driving experience, no of past accidents and even where you park your car. Over here, they insure the car regardless of the driver, so best advice would be to switch to another insurance company next year, and like the others said, avoid claiming insurance for minor damages

Actually using the belt.. no problems so far... not much choice because no one else brings down that size.... went through the catalogues of a couple of dealers and no one was bringing down that size of belt. I guess you also have the Japanese spec A/C engine so there is no regular UK Mini part available. Other option is to order it down through Douglas & Sons or another dealer of a reputed brand... or modify your pulleys so that a commonly available belt would fit... which we didn't want to take a risk trying out.
-
There is a small shop adjoining Douglas & Sons in Panchikawatta (on your left when going from Maradana towards grand pass on Panchikawatta Rd.) Guy deals exclusively in Belts. He was the only one who had the size.... may be worth buying a few extra and keeping since it is quite cheap too.

Had a sprinter with a 5Afe. Solid engine. I would say a Injector clean up and general tune up should solve the problem. Check your spark plugs and HT Leads as well. Check your A/C Idle up settings too.... had a similar issue with mine but it was easily fixed.

Have a '98 Thailand made one in the Family... (300-) Fuel consumption figures are about the same, and the car really takes a beating on a daily basis. Performance is very good too on account of the 1500cc engine. Handling is also good. Maintenance costs are about the same as any regular Jap car, the only difference is that it has Disk Brakes both in front and behind, so the brake pad replacement is a tad more expensive. The Indian made ones were only imported brand new through Stafford..... most of them are 301- and later cars. Recon imports (H reg onwards) are all from Singapore and are Thailand made cars

Opera is a good browser... has some pretty practical and useful features that IE and FF doesn't.

Even the SWB has a 6 cyl 3.3 litre Diesel. Fuel Mileage not that great.

I'm Running Bridgestone Turanza 195/65/15s which i fitted in late 2005. Now 3 years and 30,000+ kms later they still have quite a fair bit of tread left ! Used a set of LM701s 13" on an earlier car and they were pretty good too. Other car is running 14" Thailand made Dunlops (not LMs) but the tread life is rather dissappointing.

A recon rack would have cost you much less in the first place..... too bad you already spent on the repair kit. Repair kit usually doesn't work because its usually the shafts that get worn out on our roads so replacing the oil seals wont help. Owned a 87 sprinter myself sometime back and the recon rack worked just fine. Also ask your mechanic to check the power steering hoses carefully for leaks. In my car the hose and rack went at the same time.... replaced the hose with a locally fabricated one..... that too worked just fine.

Actually its a Nikon Kit so all the accessories are Nikon - even the SDHC card is the Nikon recommended brand...
