  5. General Motors doesn't have a "help line" for people who don't know how to drive, because people don't buy cars like they buy computers -- but imagine if they did.... Call No. 1 HELPLINE: "General Motors Helpline, how can I help you?" CUSTOMER: "I got in my car and closed the door, and nothing happened!" HELPLINE: "Did you put the key in the ignition slot and turn it?" CUSTOMER: "What's an ignition?" HELPLINE: "It's a starter motor that draws current from your battery and turns over the engine." CUSTOMER: "Ignition? Motor? Battery? Engine? How come I have to know all of these technical terms just to use my car?" Call No. 2 HELPLINE: "General Motors Helpline, how can I help you?" CUSTOMER: "My car ran fine for a week, and now it won't go anywhere!" HELPLINE: "Is the gas tank empty?" CUSTOMER: "Huh? How do I know?" HELPLINE: "There's a little guage on the front panel, with a needle, and markings from 'E' to 'F.' Where is the needle pointing?" CUSTOMER: "It's pointing to 'E.' What does that mean?" HELPLINE: "It means that you have to visit a gasoline vendor, and purchase some more gasoline. You can install it yourself, or pay the vendor to install it for you." CUSTOMER: "What!? I paid $$12,000 for this car! Now you tell me that I have to keep buying more components? I want a car that comes with everything built in!" Call No. 3 HELPLINE: "General Motors Helpline, how can I help you?" CUSTOMER: "Your car sucks!" HELPLINE: "What's wrong?" CUSTOMER: "It crashed, that's what went wrong!" HELPLINE: "What were you doing?" CUSTOMER: "I wanted to run faster, so I pushed the accelerator pedal all the way to the floor. It worked for a while, and then it crashed -- and now it won't start!" HELPLINE: "It's your responsibility if you misuse the product. What do you expect us to do about it?" CUSTOMER: "I want you to send me one of the latest versions that doesn't crash anymore!" Call No. 4 HELPLINE: "General Motors Helpline, how can I help you?" CUSTOMER: "Hi! I just bought my first car, and I chose your car because it has automatic transmission, cruise control, power steering, power brakes, and power door locks." HELPLINE: "Thanks for buying our car. How can I help you?" CUSTOMER: "How do I work it?" HELPLINE: "Do you know how to drive?" CUSTOMER: "Do I know how to what?" HELPLINE: "Do you know how to drive?" CUSTOMER: "I'm not a technical person! I just want to go places in my car!"

    Kia Rio Car

I'd say kia rio is an excellent car @ a bargain price. I have a 2001 auto sedan which does around 10-11km/ltr. Maintenance is equivalent to any other Jap car. Mostly i prefer the interior dash and aero dynamic exterior over boxed old cars (FB14 etc) at the same price range or higher. Parts seems cheaper to me, i bought a brand new headlight for around 13.5k which sounds reasonable. Always try to avoid cars which are more than 8 years old. Well.. once i parked my car next to my friends old sprinter which looked crappy and outdated. My opinion about hatches! I had a bad experience among my foolish relatives who are car illiterate. My old car was an indian hatch (Suzuki zen 2006). Most of them estimate it's value as 7 lakhs or less. This made me go for a sedan (kia rio) which has the appearance to impress anyone and most of the illiterate people guess it costs more than 15 lakhs. And believe it or not some even thought it was way over 2 million. This applies to most of the sri lankans who doesn't even know the difference between jap and korean. Imagine some one riding march with their family to a wedding house or a newly wed couple going in a nissan march Finally i say kia rio rocks over 10 year old japanese keys which lacks many key features such as p/w, p/m, abs etc but be careful when selecting colors. Dare buy a goma green car which really stinks. I saw a couple of them in AL classifieds too. Silver color should look luxurious & professional. Make use of our foolish lankan market where damn old option less cars like FB14 etc costs higher than a kia. Get the best deal on a full/o kia and drive like a king if someone says that you could have gone for an old march rather than a korean car just take your car and park it right next to that tiny little takaran jelly bean mr.bean shit bucket. He will regret about his statement. I wish you all the best on selecting your new ride. Have a nice day!

    Recommend A Place

Please recommend me a place to do the following repairs (Dehiwala area preferred) : Drive shaft boot damage Steering rack oil leak Replace Radiator cap Rear Brake washer leak Tnx a lot!
  12. awaiting for this one!
  13. How about kleenpark ? i went there for a lube and the place seemed perfect. they told me that i can do my regular service there. do you all have any feedback about their service ?
  14. Thanks a lot for the quick response. I'll definitely check that place asp
  15. Can someone recommend me a place to do my regular service ? (close to dehiwala) earlier i did it in A*W but recently my warranty expired
  16. yeah! i'm quite comfortable with the current tyre size. the main reason to change my tyre set is the alignment problem + the tyres are worn out. the car moves sideways if i take my hands off the steering. These kinds of things are still new to me.. Actually this is my first experience using a reconditioned car (which i purchased recently) Sorry for the noob questions Thanks a lot guys
  17. I guess i am having the standard tyres and it seems to be an original one from korea, but i noticed several Kia rio's with 15" tyres. according to previous threads i assume Bridgstone is the best choice for Sri Lankan roads ? If i'm supposed to put the original size i should go for the following specs ? P 175/70 R13
  18. What is the ideal tyre size for my car ? (Kia rio 4 door 2000) currently i have 175/13 (all worn out) can someone recommend me a suitable tyre and advice me on current market prices ?
  19. Thanks mate. I'll check it out how about a place/workshop close to Dehiwala ?
  20. My rear left window p/s was not functioning completely so i asked a mechanic to inspect and was told that it was due to a rusted motor. Applying some oil fixed the issue though it is still whining with often hiccups. Can someone recommend me a place to fully service all 4 power shutters ? Probably i might have to replace the motor.
