  1. many many happy returns of the day brother....... hope the upcoming year will be one fiiled with superb car-related moments
  2. its this weekend? :S
  3. this has been discussed loads of times....... do a search for some tips if your friend doesnt mind recon, i think a solid choice would be an ES8 Civic Vtec
  4. yep, the doc is his brother.....
  5. why? does come to mind......
  6. any guesses which paper ran this? yep the Sunday Observer....... this senasinhe chap Does own an Aston... but its in the UK.... and apparently, the prez had asked him to state that the car was here.... he angrily refused obviously..... as reported in every OTHER news paper... but obviously good 'ol lake house has a different take on the matter... Did i hear someone say "Banana Republic"?
  7. Agree with velocity... CEASE AND DESIST... even if the price is very attractive, the Money (and even more so the time!) you have to spend sorting that lot out is probably not worth it.... What kind of price is it going at can you tell us?
  8. yeah about time neda? ... you're right machan we almost got black but then figured that if were gonna use it for work, that'd screw up the paint quickly.... so silver it was! and that turned out ok..... i shall try n bring it to the next AL do perhaps
  9. He might find it a tad hard to do that, considering hes in S'pore..
  10. I kind of wondered about it...... i'd have thought Gold was a more likely station for the target market, perhaps even lite..... but i dunno how logical a choice Yes is going to be
  11. the S 300, the entry level version, starts at 30 Mill..... the 500 costs something like 45 mill.... heck even a prado is dangerously close to 10 mill in top spec..... whats scary is that people STILL buy the things... i dont even want to THINK about the insurance premiums!
  12. double that figure and you'll have it....
  13. has anyone heard the PRICE btw? thats a real eye opener..... any guesses gents?
  14. Cant disagree with that.....
  15. Dimos are the agents for Chrysler and Jeep, as well as Mercedes Benz....... oh and TATA as well..
  16. well theres very little in this country that can be confused with a DB9 innit? especially if the Escort jeep story is also true... but like i said, its just something i was told..... so im not buying it till i see it myself
  17. the manual refers to US octane unfortunately... it says quote "89 octane or over"...... so since D*MO expressly stated 90 octane.... we went with that... completely unaware of this factor...
  18. even the pics that ran in some papers are the pics of THIS car..... which poses a bit of a quandry..... perhaps its all a big hue and cry over nothing?? i have heard from people who have claimed to have seen a DB9 followed by several escort jeeps etc at night on galle road.... but then that's just the word going around...... i'd personally have to see it to totally buy the Namal story having said that however, it COULD be that the christy lanka car has changed hands........ at any rate its rather fishy that the moment the stories started to go around, a single story about a "Namal Serasinghe" who owned an aston in the UK, suddenly appeared innit?
  19. you're right, its very useful but hell, that means even the 95 octane we have here is equal to the lowest grade of US petrl according to this.... clearly dimos got it wrong about the petrol then...... they insisted that we use only 90 octane....hmmm
  20. well yeah, that was about the nearest you'd get to american highway conditions in SL.... long straight and empty stretch of road somewhere in the anuradhapura area, we sat at 100-120 for about three quarters of an hour..... that would be about 70MPH, so its right in the zone of highway speeds..... which apparently is where the thing consumes the least fuel.... and yes, even at those speeds.... the engine was turning over just under 2000 Rpm in top.... and in reply to your other question machan, yes, D*mo's do reccomend using 90 octane fuel...... as dilesh mentioned, its because the octane grades available in the US of A are suprisingly low.... it works out pretty well for us because some places we visit rarely have even 90 octane petrol.... much less 95!!
  21. yep, http://forum.autolanka.com/index.php?s...0&hl=Beetle completed after much effort this is more like the err.... "family" vehicle and yes 3-4 Km/l in colombo is the norm.... managed to get 9km/l on a run to anuradhapura though... and we werent hanging about either....
  22. sorry, repeated the post..

  24. always... youth, ego, stupidity & speed make for a lethal combination http://www.wreckedexotics.com/newphotos/bad/bad787.shtml
  25. yeah something about that video and the attitude of the posters comments on youtube make me very much afraid they will.... lets just hope some innocent bystander or other driver is not caught up in the fray remember boys, all it takes is one slip..... it doesnt even have to be YOURS, and theres no turning back......
