  1. interesting concept, but i dont know quite how feasible it is.... the thing with both the capri and the celeste is that they are both Rear wheel drive cars, so dropping in the drivetrain of the front drive-to-4WD Evo is probably not going to be possible without some major structural work... on the other hand, dropping in the engine might be a possibility (however, here too you'd have to consider that in the evo, the engine is mounted transversly, but naturally in a RWD car it'd be mounted longtitudaly). a rather more feasible idea for a Capri is to get down some sort of old V8 (chevy or ford second hand from the US or Aus, or even the old rover v8..... could possibly find one in SL that has been chucked out of a diesel converted Range rover).... sort the brakes and suspension.... and voila! your very own drift machine....
  2. ROTFL  thats one awesome site!!! yup these guys definitely deserve a "honourable (?) mention" at least!!
  3. Im sorry, but i HAVE to ask.... what on Earth possesed you boys to do that?? To drive through that kind of traffic in that fashion indicates that you seem to have a very big bolt loose indeed! If you imagine that this kind of thing is brave/impressive/likely to get you "respect"..... i think you've got it very wrong indeed.... all you've done is showcase a high level of immaturity...... one unexpected move by another road user and things would have ended in tragedy... dont get me wrong, i enjoy driving quickly just as much as everyone here does..... i just dont think that THIS sort of driving achives anything other than make the driver look like a complete berk....
  4. excuse me... but i dont think that was called for..... fulvia was asking a question that he wanted answered.... whether he has a 3000CC car or a 8000cc car, what right does that give you to comment on it?
  5. yako!! wTF is up with you??
  6. oh? didnt know that...... but couldnt they have achieved the same by simply remapping the ECU to suit the application?
  7. Happy b'day mate....
  8. Sarcasm appears to be a whole new language on this thread.... @ weed, dude you need to give us the contact of your dealer man........
  9. it actually IS the very same engine isnt it?
  10. i dont think the car is still on the embassy plates....... not sure though.... Fulvia, over to you?
  11. well my 2c on the matter....... I had a good look around one of the rextons and i must say it impressed me quite a bit! the build quality and finish was WAY better than i assumed it would be, it really seems to be up to par with any korean vehicle.... perhaps even better! the tech in it also sounds quite good IMHO, Merc designs after all right? the 2.7l Diesel in the rexton has a reputation for being strong and reliable...... honestly max i think you made the right choice and btw, i Absolutely LOVE the interior of the rex...... quite honestly that interior looks more inviting on intial impression than that of our GC..... Micro should feel very proud of themselves...
  12. not to mention the much denied Aston Martin!
  13. Small world indeed....
  14. ah right, so you'll be with some ppl i know then.....
  15. Whats the new jeep machan?? did you manage to get hold of a Cygnus??
  16. hang on, The lambo in this pic is a gallardo... that has conventional doors anyway, its only the "Big" lambos like the Murcielago and the old Diablo that have the Scissor doors...
  17. good point, apart from whatever "prestige" etc gained from having a new car, it might make rather more sense to buy something old but in decent nick, and bank the rest....
  18. The old shape will be about 1.8 mill unregistered the new shape starts at 1.9-2.0 million for the Brand new 1.3 if i remember correctly it would help if you state what kind of budget you're willing to put down on the car....
  19. The Vitz will likely hold value the best considering the toyota badge, they are in decent demand so it will probably prove easiest to sell... that said however, easily the best car of the lot in every other criteria is the Swift (im assuming you mean the new shape one right?)
  20. as Devindaa mentioned, you Could also consider the VW Jetta, that 1.9 tdi engine is bombproof and quite brisk, and the car is very solidly put together..... apparently the cost difference is not all that much either..... This is OT btw, but dilesh, you mentioned you're in singapore.... would you be at NUS by any chance??
  21. yes, that would be because someone OTHER than the manufacturer put them on the car...... as milindu pointed out, 300 bucks will get you the badge at darley road.....
  22. yes you do have a point about the fact that kias are super value when compared to jap cars of the same age, but the reality is that the jap cars are rather better put together than cars such as the rio...... i've been in a few, and the general quality of build and materials are just about comparable to 80's nissan Marches and the like... DEFINITELY a league below the jap cars of similar size and price..... and leonardo made a very good point when he said korean cars end up looking old before their time.... this is a result of the build quality and general solidity of jap cars....... how much DID you spend on the rio? about 1.2? no argument that it represents superb value at that price..... but that said, in that price bracket, if it was my money i'd be searching for a BMW e34 or 36.... but thats just me...
  23. I really have to disagree with that comment..... how do you imagine the ppl who are rich have gotten that way?? sure some of them are as queer as a nine rupee note, but to paint all of them with the same brush s just not fair..... there actually ARE some people in this country who have managed through sheer hard work alone to build a fairly comfortable life for themselves.... its just that the attitude of the majority of this country tends to overlook that fact..... and just FYI mate, happiness isnt only money......
  24. apparently it was in the sunday's times or lakbima papers, my dad said he read it..... havent checked it out myself though
  25. hey, dude..... whatever it is you're on man, it must be some good s**t, where can i get some of that???
