Not necessarily, most of the newer semi-autos are more efficient and older fully autos. it is all to do with the motor/morots and the energy used for drying. but in DVT's case it is the frequency not the efficiency IMO.

@ DVT, Only thing I could think of is your daily use of the Washing machine. I was compairing my equitpments at home with yours and only thing which is drastically different is the 7kg fully automatic washing maching. I use a semi automatic one which we use 2-3times a week. there could be a significant differance in power consumption there. (my average usage is abt 100-110 units per month). try reducing the frequency of use of the machine (try using every other day instead). just check the wattage of your iron. i was shocked to findout mine was a 1800watt one. since then I stopped using it daily but use twice a week. it takes some planing though. but I am not sure how practical it will be with the kid though. one more thing on the laptop. try not plugging it to the power all the time. try draining the battery upto 20% and charging again. It will save some electricity and will extend the life of the battery. I guess there could be atleast 1 out of 10 cfl bulbs which you can find to be switched off at any given time. best way to save electricity is to save small amounts from many places.

You are welcome mate. There is nothing called hard to sell, there is a right price and a buyer for everything. For an example I used to own a Lancer CS. when I wanted to sell it last year, the 1st person who came to see the car bought it with in 2days of advertising. Previously I owned a Starlet and it took me close to a month to sell it. If you expect to make a 500K odd gain on reselling the vehicle, EXs and FDs are not the ones you should be looking for. Even the Market friendly Toyotas like Vitz are loosing 2nd hand value these days.If you are looking to use the car for 2-3 years I personally do not think you will loose money on absolute terms with these types of cars. The story with these types of cars is that the general public does not know much about these types yet. That is why people have allsorts miss concepts about these cars. Once these cars change hands more the true picture comes out. Same thing happened to me when I was trying to buy the Lancer CS. But now more and more people knows about the car and there is more acceptance, and thus the so called “Ease of Selling” I am afraid mate it is your decision whether you want to buy a car to sell or to enjoy driving it. Hope I answered your question.

Gee no one is talking on behalf of the EX. let me be the 1st :-) it is true that EX is less powered compared to the FD (1.6 or 1.8) but you have enough and more power to have fun when you are driving it. on the performance side it is very reliable (thus far). the current second hand quoting rate is around 3.7 mil for a 2008-2009 model. You can bargain and get a good one for about 3.5 if you are lucky. On fuel consumption, mine does about 12.5-13 kmpl in and around Colombo daily driving (mine is a manual). One of my friends has a auto which does about 11 kmpl in and around Colombo. I have achieved max of 18kmpl on long trips but you can easily hit 16kmpl on normal driving. I heard the automatic does 14-15 outstation. There are 2 versions of EXs interms of options. GLS is the fully loaded one with teak panel on interior and multi function steering, it also has the 6 CD loader. Other one doesn’t have those options but all standard options on a a general "full option" car is there. Earlier both automatic and the manual models came with 1.5L (110BHP) engines (4A91 if I am not wrong). These engines were originally used in Mitsubishi Colts in 2004-2005. New EXs do not get offered a manual option by the agents in SL the engine is 1.6L one with 117BHP. Issues - There have been issues with the ABS sensors in the earlier models almost all of which have been replaced under warranty. Some cars got carbon deposits in the throttle body, which could be easily cleaned by deposit remover spray. Some has had radiator fan issues mostly have been repaired under warranty. Check for service records before buying one from the agents and specifically check if these issues have been addressed. They will tell you if the car has and any major repairs done with. if these issues have been addressed (ABS sensor and Fan) there is nothing to worry about. Let me know if you need further details. This is the best car I have owed thus far.

If you can push you budget to about 1.65-1.7 mil, I would recomend for you to go for a Lancer CS model. from my personal experiance I can gurentee you on good fuel economy and good handling. This will give you an option of having a relatively new car which (2001-2002) for the rice you pay with a lower milage. You can cross check and details of a certain car with the agents they are kind enough to give info if you request them. Do not worry about the spareparts and maintanance because it is a Market myth. I recomend you to go for a CS2 or a CS3 manual. If you interested I can give you further details of the model. If you cannot streach your budget, CK2 is still a good option. you can find 1999-2001 manufactured cars for that price. just check if they are Indian made or Japanies made.

Good Small Car For About 2 Million
Harry (aq) replied to mimfarook's question in Car Buying Information
Why dnt you try for a Lance CS version. You can find a 2003-2004 manufactured one within your budget easily. very reliable car, comfortable, fuel efficient and relatively new (less than 10years old). Let mw know if you need further details on CSs. -
Ofcause you can always be in a hurry to attend to a critical patient, if you know what I mean :-)
-
Absolutely.. You can find a good one below 3.5mil

There are Manuals around machan. Most of the Doctor Permits in 2007-2008 have got many of the manulas brought down. Previous owner said that the automatic was not available for the permit at the time he was buying since then price was higher than the permit limit.

Oh yeah that Angry face loking at you in the morning.. It is a sight. Even the grumpy looking behind isnt bad at all.

Haha it was just one time trip mate. I am planing on a road trip using the same road. Will give u a heads up when I am coming that way :-)

Go for a Manual Mate you wont regret. I have been on few long trips and used Horana - Ratnapura road. It was Lovely to drive it in the bends.

I know what you mean Trinity. I think i have phrased it wrong. I also didnt have any problems with my CS1 but what I meant to say was that I will not be as easy as finding parts for reconditioned Cars imported to SL. For an example, 1st time I was looking for the clutch pump I had to roam around a bit. But the next time I knew where to go. In the case of a Lancer Ex, the car is still new to the spareparts matket. Hence it will be abit difficult to find spares. It is bound to change with more cars in the market. I see more and more Lances Exs on roads everyday.

Well I upgraded from my CS1 2001 to Ex 2008 last Oct. since then its been daily running. Fuel Consumption - 12.5 - 13.5 in City and 16+ outstation (Max of 18) Spareparts - Will have to stick to Agents mostly cos the car wasnt brought down recondition. so it will be relatively not easy to find spares (this is the case for CS model as well). But the regular maintanace stuff is available Suspension - no complaints Re sale market - this is still a new car at the 2nd hand market we will have to wait and see what happenes. I do not see you loosing money on absolute terms on this car when you resell (Bargain when you purchace though). People who have bought this car around 4.5mil or 5mil 2-3 yeas ago will loose. but at the current market rate around 3.5mil - 3.8mil I dont see you loosing money The 2007-2008 models have had the ABS sensor issue which had comeup was mostly under the period of warrenty. most of the cars (i checked) have got it replaced. I love the sound of the engine and the exhaust, Pulling power is good and good handling for a front wheel driven car. you point your nose where you want to go and it will go there without much fuss. Let me know if you want more details. Owarall - Best Car I have Owned thus far

Top speed of 180 kmph was achieved twice on the Express way in my new Lancer Ex. I was checking the stability of the car at high speeds and was very happy with the performance. Acceleration upto 180 was good in the 4th and the 5th gear. I tried accelerating beyond 180 but it was slow due to the wind resistance.

If it is the washers, you r lucky, but Lancer CS models have this issure with ther clutch pumps. It fails with out warning if that is the case it would cost u around 16,000 to replace one. Clutch pump comes sealed with the arm and it is not possible to mend it, hence you will have to replace new. Check it with your mechanic and see.

Lancer 2001 Manual Love the car...

I have 2 PEO TV connections. Even I faced this with my old connection. These issue come with the increase of the band width. You can call 1243 and make a complaning. They will come and adjest the setting. Then it sould be fine. My new connection doesnt give any isseus. This issue is mainly with the old routers. The new wireless routers work fine

CS1 is a 1.3L engined car, CS2 is 1.5L, Generally both models are good. good fuel economy. but CS1 is bit underpowered specially areas like Riverstan. City driving you can expect 11-12 kmpl and outstation will be around 15-16kmpl.

Yes that is what I was told by the Agents. They have brought down few Cedias which are automatice, If you are badly searching for a Automatic, then go for a Cedia. But I would recomend you to go for a Manual. Trust me on that, you will not regret that. (In SL they call the 2001-2002 Lancer; the Cedia model. But I refer Cedia to the automatice version of the same model)
-
Generally Cedia models are Automatic, GDI and JDMs. But there are Automatic vehicles which were imported by the agents which are not GDI. Just check for if it was imported brand new or recon. Mosr of the 2001-2002 Lancers which were imported brand new are CS2s. But the later models (Gira Hota Model) are mostly CS1s. Do not worry about the 1300cc engin in CS1, it is not underpowered. But it is better if you could go for a CS2 though. There are both EFI and Carb models of these cars. I would recomend you to go for a EFI model. Speres are about 2.5 times expensive with the agents. But there are enough and more places in Panchikawaththa and Delkanda for spares.
