  1. May JadeyBlitzen and his foul-mouthed company enjoy their Maruti Bashing.
  2. Let Virensti answer my question.
  3. Alto is not a car from the 80s
  4. Have you ever seen a Geely?
  5. I mean you are actually doing that, and what really stand out are your funny comments/captions, like that Isuzu Bighorn Prototype, AMWs secret Maruti Black Edition. (Some might mistake them for serious comments) That is why I told that you have a good sense of humour. Keep up the good work!
  6. This forum is meant for pictures with such humorous and lively captions, isn't it?
  7. A vehicle with a bonnet scoop does not necessarily mean it is Turbocharged. The "Maruti 800 Black Edition" story is another amusing piece of writing by terrabytetango.
  8. I have no idea, other than suggesting you to do like what I did. (However I doubt whether a convex mirror would fit into the shallow housing of M800 side mirror.) Better still, you can start a brand-new topic/post/thread under "Expert Advice" seeking help. There may be fellow AL members who own Maruti 800s and probably they might come up with other alternatives.
  9. Must be from A*W. These days they retro fit these internally adjustable convex mirrors on the stock 800cc Alto along with fog lights, rear spoiler and alloy wheels and calls it "Alto Sport". However, as far as I know these mirrors are compatible only with Maruti Alto and Maruti (Old) Zen.
  10. 17 years ago when my father's Lancer C12 side mirror got stolen (with the housing intact) he used to apply this "method" until he got his insurance claim.
  11. A manufacturer of agricultural tractors assisting in setting up an assembly line for 80ton GVW Prime-movers? That doesn't make sense. Since Micro's parent company Transmec is the agent for Renault Trucks, why can't Micro partner with them?
  12. Only convex mirrors come with that wording.
  13. A small kiosk in Darley Road (almost opposite Nestle Head Office and Excel World). They are called N.R. side mirror but there is no board. The person there removes the side mirror along with the housing and extracts the old flat mirror. Then he places a new mirror cut (with a "diamond Knife") to the exact measurement and places it in the same housing. Thereafter he puts some 'cataloy paste like' thing on the edges to hold the mirror in its housing. The place is run by two brothers. The younger (fair-coloured) person has more expertise than the older (dark-coloured) one. I replaced my mirrors in two different occasions. The left side mirror cost Rs. 650/= in January 2007 and the right side one cost Rs. 850/= in May 2008. Their mirrors are good, but the dried-up paste on the edges warps and cracks with time (due to heat).
  14. Even my Maruti Wagon-R (Older Model) used to come with flat mirrors. Though they were bigger in size (compared to that of Alto), they made a huge blind spot, which often made me glance over my shoulder. Later I swapped them with convex mirrors.
  15. Sorry I forgot that such a website URL is effectively a Web Advertisement.
  16. Try Gilbert & Co. #####
  17. The Japanese (Suzuki-made) Chevrolet Cruze is a "Grey Market" import. As far as I know it is made only for Japan Domestic Market. The local agent for Chevrolet is MagCity, but most of their cars are Daewoo-based Chevrolets from India.
  18. You seem to have a good sense of humour. This type of vehicles are quite common sight these days. Most of them are ex-Sri Lanka Police Toyota Land Cruisers (Some even bearing PRADO decals) and Nissan Patrols fitted with new body shells. However I can't remember whether the Police Dept. used to have Early 32 Sri Isuzu Troopers. I guess the owner might have swapped the body of his old Isuzu Trooper with that of a newer model.
  19. You are welcome!

  21. The Maruti Baleno did not come to Sri Lanka. However it seems Maruti has initially assembled it using Japanese parts. Found the folowing articles in Autocar India http://www.autocarindia.com/new/RoadTestDetails.asp?ID=1032 and Indiacar.com http://www.indiacar.com/buyusedtips/baleno...eno%2Findex.htm.
  22. Sorry, I usually call vehicles of this particular shape (even a Honda HR-V) as jeep. Also I would like to correct it in my previous post as "jeep" (the generic term and not the Chrysler trademark "Jeep"). By the way it seems that the only instance this Tata can be called a jeep is when referring to a Tata Sumo police jeep.
  23. Tata Victa is the upmarket version of the Tata Sumo Police jeep. Though I have never driven a Victa, (in a Motor show) when I sat on the driver's seat, it felt like that of a commercial vehicle. Ergonomics were poor. Interior plastic quality worse than a Maruti. However at that time (2007) it was the cheapest Brand- New Diesel Jeep in Sri Lanka (Rs. 3 Million). The following links will show you the pros and cons of the Tata Victa (in the Indian context, though). http://www.autocarindia.com/new/RoadTestDetails.asp?ID=1021 http://www.team-bhp.com/web/index.php?categoryid=3 Brand - choose "Tata", Model - choose "Sumo" ,Then click SEARCH.
  24. As far as I know, the Japanese made Chevrolet Cruze is an upmarket version of the Old Suzuki Swift. Since its headlights are also slightly different to that of the Old Swift, a Suzuki Badge might look out place. While the original Chevrolet "Bow-Tie" Badge has a golden shade, there are also aftermarket "Bow-Tie" Badges which are silver coloured. (As I found with Google image search) My opinion is that it is better leaving the silver "Bow-Tie" Badge as it is, because after all the "Bow-Tie" shape is still there.
