bottom line is buckling up should be second nature. i remember being laughed at when i buckled up while a novice driver in my mom's 16 sri corolla DX. once even a cop asked me how fast i was expecting to go in that bucket with my belts on. i'm the one laughing now, tho.

spot on, sifaan, spot on.

gotta love how sri lankans fight sanity with such determined lunacy! whoever came up with this deserves the nobel!

boys, girls, and esteemed gentleman, the geely GX2 or panda sport was launched last saturday. i hear say its 1.9 million a pop. care to share any ideas on this? AFAIK the engine specs are the same, and its not AWD. but it has higher ground clearance, looks better than a what came out when megatron raped Po-the-panda's mom, and even has the spare wheel mounted on the rear door. (so its not passing aussie safety ratings anytime soon...) no i'm not a secret agent for micro. i'm just an average joe who's sorely tempted to have a decent piece of automobile with a KQ plate for under 2 mil.

you have to have the treble cranked up to get that spine numbing "ss-ss-ss-ss" beat and the "jinki-chickin" melody. and shihan... oh shihaaaaan...
-
kathaa karapan! seriously, man. i was thinking the exact same thing! i guess our buggers would rather hug the airbag when it blows and take a nice nap...
-
i hear they add 20BHP to the car. blood horsepower level, that is...
-
yup. vios. someone sent me an email of this a long time ago when it first came out. have been a disturbed little child ever since! i do believe it was that chap in homagama who committed this crime. and to think they couldn't make an ugly car any uglier! wow

and we're all here to be judged by you, mr. watchman. that wasn't big talk. that was the truth. rolls royce is now as british as pol sambol, innit? that was my point. my life doesn't hinge on knowing who owns it or how much money exchanged hands in that deal. what is it with some of you autolanka ppl and your prissy attitude? give it to someone who deserves it.

have you seen the cars we have on this island??? ferraris maseratis porsches rollers astons alfas and even a rumor of a murcie. and then there's GT-R's mugen RR's supras Z's and what have you... this is an island of 20 million people. we probably have more supercars per capita than india can ever dream of this is quite an achievement with 350% taxation. besides, its nice to own a roller that was built by roller builders in good old england, than have something that came out of an audi factory, with parts shipped in from china. (audi owns rolls, right? or was it tata?)

supra_natural is spot on. that's not a phantom or any roller of recent vintage. look at the roof. and mind you the phantom grille isn't sloped like that

Any Shop/guy Who Can Ship Parts From Us?
Komisiripala replied to 67Dodge's topic in General Automotive
our family uses the aramex po box facility all the time. its pretty simple to set up. just give them call. they'll sort you out. you have to rent out a po box tho. i don't think they do one time services. some ebay sellers don't ship to po boxes. but amazon sends all their stuff -
well then the seller missed a trick there. didn't really bother to check up on it afterwards. waited a bit more and went for the proper paj. loved it to bits.

OMG is that an accord? blasphemy!!
-
on a lighter note, i remember going to have a look at an IO when my brother was considering his first SUV. we were thrilled with it, but me, being the picky one, had to ask the seller "so, when its on the daily drive on 2WD, its RWD, right?" and the reply was "no no, this is FWD, like a car" and the both of us, in unison, went "අයියෝ.."
-
or a 1970's corolla... hee hee
-
accord FTW! its priceless, i agree hands down. but if you're fixated on RWD then clearly honda isn't the place for you! on your budget, the cefi is a good option.

no mate. your answers were an insight to us all. you should probably publish that in other threads. i mean, we all know its not advisable to convert to diesel, but the math puts things in a whole new light. applause from me, anyways!
-
if you like straight sixes with rear wheel drive, try the toyota camry (older model with the huge gaping lights) or the toyota verossa. little mroe expenxive than the laurel, but they're toyotas. you'll never go wrong with 'em! knowing how the sri lankan market works...
-
the original question was "what he needs to buy to convert". this he himself answers later, quoting prices, and says he can bypass customs. so what was the point of this whole thread again? trolled, weren't we?
-
that i dunno mate. this was my ex's dad's car. all i can say is i hope it's in spare part shops by now! in a million little pieces! lmao! but in general nissan parts shouldn't be a problem
-
very very poorly. i used one for some time, and i swear to you, it did around 3 - 5kmpl. and around 7-8kmpl outstation. but that being said, its a very comfy car, and rear wheel drive just adds to the bliss. the nissan neo straight six is a symphony orchestra on wheels

in the 6 years we've had ours, we have: 1. replaced power steering pump twice. once it just blew while i was on full opposite lock trying to get onto havelock road. there was power steering fluid everywhere. looked like a murder scene. now its failing for the third time. 2. serviced electrical circuits many times. everything from power shutters to the AC to the central locking. something kept going wrong somewhere. 3. replaced sensors on the tiptronic box twice. these burn out every once in a while and the car decides not to shift gears. for fun. this of course, is apart from the regular running repairs (shocks, arm bushes etc) mind you, this is a car that's done only 90k km's and has not been out of colombo more than 5 times.
-
had experience with two exceed's. both did 5.7 - 6kmpl as per trip computer. cruising on GDI eco it goes up to 8-12kmpl on long distance hauls. which, for an SUV that size, is very decent. i too advocate getting your systems checked. probably might cost a lot less on the long term and initial investment than a diesel convert. don't forget you bring in a whole new dimension of noise and low frequency vibration also with a diesel engine

and my mom has a sonata, so i can fill you in on that end: pros- very very comfortable. the ride is divine. it cushions out the ruts and potholes like they weren't even there. its got hydro-pneumatic suspension. acres of space/legroom plush leather interior. the leather itself is perforated and very high quality. doesn't crack/crease with age. gorgeous ass err... mmm.... that's it really cons: closer to 4-5kmpl city and 9kmpl outstation steering response is poor. detached ride. underpowered. car almost weighs 2 tonnes. 2000cc is woefully inadequate. high maintenance. anything that can break, probably will. no airbags. easy way of getting a hyundai tattoo in your forehead. just crash. no memory presets on the climate control. you'll be reminded to switch from outside air to recycle mode everytime you smell the lovely smells of colombo its butt-ugly up front. face not even a mother could love if you're willing to sacrifice all of the above for the sake of comfort and to have a "big car" then this is the car for you. otherwise, id say primera.
