am i the only one who still says "tip-tronic"? isn't it named after the fact that you "tip" the gear to and fro to change? goodness the HITad is like an epidemic. one mistake there and the whole country follows suit. what's next? nishan petrols? toyata hy-brides? puh-leeze! @awesome: nothing against you mate. its a common misconception. i guess selling this and buying a diesel montero is out of the question for you. but you'll have to invest a fair amount of money for the conversion, not to mention the hassle of getting papers changed etc etc. apart from what thilakR said which is quite true, if you think about it ) you'll need a few more parts, and its a bit of a hassle.

indeed they have. the 2010 sonata is the only korean car that ever made it to the "top 10 cars" list in the "autocar" magazine in the US. shows how much they have improved in all aspects. considering how the 2002 sonata was a lumbering underpowered butt-ugly behemoth which looked like as if a jaguar s-type had had its way with its mother! the new tuburon replacement is patta cool too. as is the entire range of kia SUV's. good value for money. specially for the permit. the docs are going ape-shit about them!

the sportage spec sheet is very interesting. 400k for AWD is a little silly if you're only gonna use this car to take your kids to school and back. and is only an added maintenance cost if so. my personal opinion is that a jeep isn't a jeep without AWD. but you, Mr. (or ms/mrs probably dr) Techhater, should think of how exactly you plan to use the sportage. if its for trips and romps to the hill country and various other far off places, then yes, do consider it. as far as i remember the traction control with hill descent control is only available if you get AWD. apart from that, yes, jayZ has a point. the bling will be helpful when you sell the car. provided you maintain it. do consider the leather seats. i'm a safety-junkie and i would highly advise the side impact airbags specially if you have kids in the back seat. bluetooth on your headset for 7k is very worth it. a bluetooth adaptor will cost around 18k aftermarket. a head unit with built in bluetooth will be a lot more. and of course, a trip computer telling you the kmpl and various other factoids is a nice "man-addition!" but if you're working on a restricted budget, then remember, you can still start a car the old fashioned way with a key. 40k for a button to push is a little over the top. as is another 30k or something like that for a little thing to go "beep" when you reverse. an aftermarket reverse sensor is a lot cheaper. the winker mirrors, IMO, are just waiting for some idiot driver to clip and break them as he passes you on a narrow road. the optional 18" alloys are nice, but remember, tyres are expensive. if you can afford them then go for it. looks like someone got his permit, eh?

my family did! way back before tax cuts were even heard of. as per stafford's records, the first civic hybrid to come to them for a service. ah well... come tax cuts there were many many more people who were way more concerned about the environment that we were. sri lankans are funny creatures

oh wait. my bad. the ferio Vi is multimatic. missed that. you're right kelum. and so is sadaharitha malli: i'm an idiot. <goes and sits in idiot corner with hat of shame> lol... can't believe i missed that. oh the folly of a little less information... apologies to any and all who thought i was talking "bushit" and "making an idiot of myself" clearly there was nothing left to make, since one little mistake is enough to bring out said hat of shame. ok then. off to take another 1 year hiatus from the forum and all this attitude. god it's so unhealthy. spikes up my blood sugar also...
-
"bushit?" wow... that's a new one if i ever heard of one. where in that post of mine, Mr. Green, did you see the word RS? the ViRS does come with a multimatic VTEC, which has two sport modes. i know that. but our boy can't afford an RS on that budget. can he? and he's not going to find a VTEC motor in an Mi, is he? he's better off getting a manual 301- ha ha... such attitude from these ickle boys... goodness!

Mugen are getting their hands into it. there is an M-tuned one in the market. they've also started a CR-Z racing league. which is never a bad thing and also, that motor can be cranked up to out out 500+ BHP, which is the limit the electric dynamo can take. how cool is that...?? (ok ok i got the last bit from wiki, but still, thought it was patta cool how the japs can crank gazillions of HP out of a a motor the size of a milk carton...)

i have a CVT non VTEC. it redlines at 6800, not 7200. it doesn't have an econ light, and there are no solenoids under the hood. hence, not a CVT. i did some reading on this, and the Mi model line did not VTEC, because VTEC is a technology that kicks in at higher rpm's, and CVT is all about keeping the RPM's constant, and of course, not that high. so they counteract each other.

c'mon nexus, don't take the mickey out of the poor boy. he loves hondas, let him. i love them too, but if i had the money i'd order myself a murcie! dunno how it'll be for you tho. but i for one did pass up a chance for a beamer for my ek3. and i love it. dude seems to be fixated on hondas, so what we say wouldn't really matter. let's not destroy his fantasies, shall us? here's my humble two cents: son, don't let the car make you a pr*ck behind the wheel. that gutsy feeling will be very literal when the police have to unwrap you and said honda from a telephone pole. hondas are fast, and are easy rollers, so you won't realize the speeds you're hitting til you've got there. i'd say it's a good car to start off if you're a 1987 mint you'll be able to get a 300/301 plate for that kinda money. make sure it has been well maintained, and not modified up the wazoo. i dunno if that's your cup of tea, but i for one prefer to keep my car stock on the outside (look up the term "sleeper") the hub brakes in the rear don't stop the car as much as you'd like, so do be careful when you let her rip. you can get that kinda economy if you drive carefully. most cars with a 1500cc engine will give you that. what matters is what else they give you when you just wanna burn some rubber. toyotas/nissans in that calibre don't come equipped with a "sport" mode shifter on the steering wheel for when you gotta go. the multimatic cvt ek3's do, and there's a little thrill in having your car become a little beast at the push of a button. (emphasis on the world "little") if that's your thing then look for a multimatic. i know some knuckles are already cracking in haste to cut me down for recommending a CVT, but despite its' negative rep, its a wonderful technology, (if not, all the japanese marques won't be sticking it in their vehicles... honda and nissan did this 10 years ago) and remember to get your gear oil changed every 17,000 km or so at the agents, with CVT oil. nothing else. normal oil is too viscous and screws up the box, if used. look into that history when you buy a car. a manual, of course, is more fun. and also comes with a VTEC motor. the cvt's don't. if you want some good fun, and if you've got the budget (i recommend robbing a bank and selling your left testis for this) go see the EK5 RTi advertised in the H*tad last sunday. it's one of the very few all-wheel drive hondas in the country. now that, would be a corker. good luck with your search. @pericles: i didn't meant to advertise. it's a rare buy which would be excellent for this dude. trust me on this i don't own a car sale! pls do remove if you find this unfit for the forum. my apologies if so.

this was the one for sale on hitad. dunno about 16" alloys, but adriatic pearl blue with GW plates... piece of work

i'm just curious to know whether gayan found his dream B4. i'm looking for one myself. so hard to find one that is a corker. the RSK was, tho. suspension by porsche... damn! there's one at a sale in mount, near odeon cinema, which is getting peddled by all and sundry. dunno the condition of it myself... was told its a B4

i don't think he'll need that much luck. agents are willing do go the whole hog for servicing, parts etc. they just don't bring it down...yet. seeing how they are very happy to do whatever to our hybrid civic, and how they take orders for the insight on the sly (so as not to hamper the sales of the gasoline civics they have now) i'm thinking maintaining this should not be an issue. yup the 6-forward sounds mouth watering. it's one sexy car. hats off to honda

saw an electric blue CR-Z this morning, in kohuwala, and fell hopelessly in love! that is one beautiful car! couldn't take any pictures, sorry. it still had import plates. i so want one! any CR-Z owners out there?

funny. i've had a p1i, and connected it to a pioneer bluetooth set. more than one, actually. worked perfectly. u mean to say the phone turned off? that's odd. try rebooting after allowing it to pair automatically and see what happens? and yet, if this happened when u tried to dial off the car setup,. try dialling on the phone and see if the audio gets transferred to the car. also, try calling your phone to see what happens.
-
simple, but might take a little time if you're new to this. first, you need to make sure your stereo has a bluetooth adapter. it has to have a fully functional bluetooth adapter, and not be "bluetooth ready". the latter would mean you have to fork out another 18,ooo rupees to get a bluetooth adapter. if it does, go to the bluetooth menu and see if it's switched on. next, switch on your bluetooth connection in the phone. i'm assuming you know how to do that. read the phone manual if you need help, its different in the makes of phones. once done, search for available devices. your car head unit will show up, for example as "PIONEER BT-UNIT" or somesuch. instruct the phone to connect to that. it most likely will ask for an authorization code, which should be "0000" (zero-zero-zero-zero) in most cases. once connected, you're done. if your phone's a nokia, it will show a little red car icon on the screen next to the signal bar once connected. depending on your stereo unit and the phone, you will now be able to: 1. take and receive calls from the car unit. it will load your contacts, call log etc onto the car. when taking and answering calls, the unit will automatically mute radio/pause media playback. needless to say, you'll have to have a mike installed. and also, get used to having phone conversations with other people in the car. "oh hi honey... ammi's here with me and you're on speaker" if you ask the phone to connect automatically to the stereo, it will do so each time you step in the car, as long as our bluetooth is on. 2. play music off your phone. the quality will be far superior to other media. good luck! at ed: sorry if i broke forum rules by mentioning brand names. point was only to illustrate. not advertise. feel free to edit if necessary.

if anyone's throwing a hybrid away, please call. will catch it gladly!

at least you still have one of 2 6x6 RR's in the country. brilliant, mate! the coffee table reminds me of the one on top gear... but that's a V12, i think... would love to see what became of this now...

i really wish we could do that MkX. that would be lovely. white LED's do give the car that little panache. i'll look into it and let you know. the indiglo ones are available easily on ebay, or at any motor mod shop here. it's a sticker. and as i said, goday as hell. also the tacho isn't right most of the time. mine's a non vtec SOHC motor, so it redlines at 6800. not 7200. so far all the indiglo kits i've found are 7200 on the tach.

a friend of mine parked his WRX STi6 there for a week, and yes, made it up the incline with his kit too. but one week was enough to give him the heebie-jeebies. now that beauty sits at home while he takes the bus/train. its much cheaper, if you live close to galle road... word is that car thieves and "kaada raja's" are all over the place. so be careful in that park.

MkX, i tried doing this for mine, and was told that the dash has it's orange glow due to an orange filter which is in front of the dash lights. (after having the dash taken apart and the meter cluster looked at) so no matter even if you put white LED's, the lights will still be dull orange. not so for the lights on the AC controls et al, tho. those have no such filter. another way of achieving this is to put an aftermarket "indiglo" set of cluster stickers on it. costs around 4,000 and looks as goday as ensina's knickers. but they do light up like the 4th of july. personally i would love that look on the ek too. but if you do do this, please let me know how and where

Need Advice - Hyundai Tiburon / Swift Sport Edition
Komisiripala replied to Dshan's topic in Ask for Advice
no worries mate. but being a one who lovingly owns a civic ek and prays at it's altar every day, may i suggest the civic RTi EK5 advertised it the H*Tad last sunday? it is a very very rare car. a 4wd civic ek model. GW plates. and parts are readily interchangeable with the CRV/HRV, so you can't go wrong.
