  1. that, machan, i don't know. but i've seen a new ist with the bonnet stickered, and seems to be holding fine up to now. but then, 2m stickers are a whole other ball game, no?
  2. yup, was about to mention shanthi. they have the proper CF sticker. with a little emboss on the weave also. matt finish. apply it properly and a noob couldn't tell the difference!
  3. a gallardo came, showed us what it can do, huffed and puffed and went also, all in the time the one discussed on this thread took to come here, or not, rather
  4. the white DC type R with J numbers, innit?
  5. read through the last 3 posts, called up my friend and said: "johnny, la gente esta mui loca!" what the... f :wacko2: k?? lol no worries kalinga. autolanka can be an unforgiving place if you tread on the wrong tails.
  6. just the header. its already got a coat of paint on it. the black, i mean. which has started peeling. need to sand that off and go with a heat resistant coat so it won't peel off again...
  7. thanks guys. expect a photo update in 2 days. the wait is driving me insane!
  8. its shaping up bit by bit. going with Honda electric blue pearl by Sikkens. this is after the base coat: http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10150516981279477&l=db02ae258d getting halo headlights, smoked turn signals for the front and quarterpanels, new rear lights and badges for the exterior. detailing the engine bay with password JDM tappet cover washers and screws, PWJDM radiator stays, aftermarket oil filler cap cover, radiator cap cover, and a replacement for the broken wiper-washer fluid cover. getting the tappet cover, header cover and radiator resprayed in matte finish. replaced the broken power steering fluid bottle with a new one, and in the process of removing paint stains from the coolant bottle. goal is to make the engine bay look like this: http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10150516981079477&l=1bda1bfc59 oh yeah, got blue tubing for the various tubes as well! my paint baas recommends side skirts, spoiler, neon lights and a beat barrel. if not for his epic save on the teg emboss i would have slapped him! the interior is in excellent shape. getting a replacement for the rear-view mirror, which has rusted, and an LED lighting kit for the gauge cluster lights. the uphosltery and headliner are in excellent shape. at least previous owner has maintained that! planning to get the steering wheel leathered up. getting married in 2 weeks, and believe you me, i've refused a 2007 Merc SLK and a jag X type for that day. i'd rather go away in this! that's all i plan to do for now. later in the day when i get the chance, will install some slotted ventilated brake rotors for a meaner look.
  9. the kung-fu fighting rav 4 with the mitsu engine is tearing its critics a new one in the 2012 Dakar. bloody hell.
  10. devinda and elvis's arguments have got me pretty confused. so is the DB8 98 issue an SiR-G or not? mine says "GS-R" on the spec sticker on the door pillar. the interwebs lead me to believe - as devinda and supra pointed out - that its one and the same. in the process of restoring it. have to put a new windshield since a pedestrian decided to moonwalk onto it while i was going along on my merry way. the previous paint job is disastrous. layer upon layer of putty for no apparent reason. haiyyo. the integra emboss on the front bumper has been more or less puttied over. had to sit with a chisel and pick away at it for hours to get the emboss to pop: this is the after photo: also removed the fogs and mesh grille put in by the previous owner. they were hideous. spent some time working on the mechanicals as well. engine was in good shape, but engine oil was more or less tar and sludge. i guess some people just run on love and a prayer. took the mickey out of the power steering, cooling, brake lines, motor and box, AC, and suspension. then pawned my left nut for a decent audio system. went with JBL all the way. now its in for a full "putty strip-down" and paint. got some aftermarket bling from ebay as well. nothing too flashy. will post some photos when its all done.
  11. i would love the scooby to be AWD. but i read the opposite to this on the top gear website. its a "Boxer Rear-wheel-drive Zenith" and they plan to keep it that way. believe me madmax i would love to be wrong on this! hope springs eternal, as they said on the thin blue line!
  12. this guy seems to have a tub of marmite open with his cheeks spread apart, no? dude, FYI, when i was 14, i used to launch a corolla DX into the stratosphere. so, yes, owned a cool car. was under 21. and the car, to me, was priceless. still is. my point is so lost on you that i wonder why i even bothered!
  13. sorry mate i really can't remember. just pick up a copy of the ads that hit you, and check it out. there was an ad for a glanza kit (or kits), starlet gt kit, and Sti 7 kit as well. if i remember right, these were complete conversions, with interior also.
  14. take it up with the CPA. you paid expecting a certain level of service. it is up to them to inform you that they don't have what you are expecting. you cannot be the first CR-V owner to whom this has happened from stafford. and if you don't speak up, you most deffa won't be the last. sri lankans really need to learn how to treat customers. 45K is not tuck-shop money.
  15. ...wouldn't be seen dead in it. there. i do believe that completes your sentence? lol
  16. http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_kw=honda+civic&_kw=rotors&_kw=black these aren't a known brand, but just look at them! http://www.ebay.com/itm/2-Pieces-Brembo-25331-Front-Disc-Brake-Rotors-Please-Read-Notes-Catalog-/150723090487?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Make%3AHonda%7CModel%3ACivic%7CYear%3A2001&vxp=mtr&hash=item2317cbd837#ht_500wt_1054 under a hundred.
  17. just saw a glanza conversion kit, the full works, along with an sti kit in our favourite sunday morning sit-in-the-loo and browse paper...
  18. nope. mine was more in mount. and most of the east coast. here it is: http://www.autolanka.com/ad.asp?ID=64828 sold it to a chap in bandarawela. its better that its out of sight now. would've broken my heart to see it being driven by someone else daily. moved on to an integra SiR DB8.
  19. something i would have liked to do, or would like you to consider if you have the contacts/can afford it: ebay has cross drilled ventilated slotted (and what-ever-else'd!) brake rotors for the civic. various big names (brembo, endless, stillen) saw a brembo pair that was jet black that would look patta kewl for $100. again, if there's a relative coming down for a vacay, kiss up to him/her/them and get them to bring it! worth the effort, i say! rotors are comparatively cheap, calipers are expensive. but they do add that touch of menace to a regular car. people then wonder what's under the hood for it to need such stopping power says a lot more than a goday body-kit or spoiler or scoop ever will
  20. well i converted mine to discs a long time ago. it wasn't such a hassle. firstly, my reasons for doing so were that drums lock up in wet weather, and braking power reduces a lot then. and of course, it looks a lot meaner. you will need the complete swing arm (with bush) and hub. you can use the same rear upper and lower arms the car came with, but you may have to buy it from the spare parts shop in case it comes connected to the set they have for sale. it cost me 12,500 per arm. (25k total). installation was another 3k or so. that depends on the mech. but do give it to someone who's into performance modifications, because the average joe may not know the finer points of doing this. look for parts in delkanda, or hill street. i found mine on hill street. the rear discs are from a ViRS. once installed, you need to adjust rear camber so that it isn't too negative. if not you'll chew through your tyres in days. the ABS lines do work with the discs also, so check if they are there on the parts you buy. the handbrake also works just fine with them. but mind you, technically, in dry weather, a drum of equal diameter is actually more efficient at braking than a disc.
  21. mine are big heavy and hairy. occasionally i lick them clean, as shown in the photo. why, what are yours?
  22. you're most welcome, mate. when i worked back there the only thing i looked forward to was the drive to and from! once i passed an RX8 and a 350Z going at it in the habarana jungles. that was a sight. back when the carpet was still hot and wet, with no markings even. that was a proper racetrack! you're spot-on about cars that have feelings: my civic never once had an issue while i did a good 30K clicks in it on these roads. and then i came home, and every time my GF asked to borrow the car for some errand... it would have an issue. thanks to her requests, i've replaced almost everything on that car! that was one jealous little bitch of a honda. the cops once stopped me for doing 100 in a 70 zone. a few hundred meteres later, stopped again and the cop shows the gun readout to my passenger saying "60". not knowing this was a 50 zone, my friends honest reaction was "ithin? moko??" lol... that was 2 seconds of awkward silence i'll cherish forever!
  23. can say the same myself. ate like hogs at ranga's beach hut. those bloody "jaffle" thigns were awesome. i think my friends and i had everything they had on the menu. and still the bill didn't go beyond 700 each. we were stuffed for two days!
  24. the way i see it, "bad" is when your SUV has bumper overhangs which are larger than the car. this, on the other hand, would make your kids run crying to mommy when they see it. kill it, i say! kill it with fire!!!
  25. i dunno... someone who suddenly woke up and realized his vios was an abomination from hell?
