  1. This was at the Highway exit was it? I was almost stopped there for not having the number plate on the front bumper due to painting, but merely pointed to the plate being inside on the dash, and they accepted it and let me go...
  2. Whenever you're free, please check out the Autolanka Facebook album from Katukurunda too
  3. Look guys, this debate will rage on for ever and ever about the Lamborgini and whether it should have been brought down tax free. Either way whats happened has happened, and regardless of what you may think, Dilantha is someone who has worked hard to raise through the ranks of motor racing, and has dedicated much of his life to the sport - often without any local support, state or otherwise. And yet he's always proudly displayed the Sri Lankan flag on his cars, even when the majority of his sponsorship has come from other countries. The lambo WAS awarded to him, and it was was also brought down tax free. If it was bought with his own money then yes, of course you'd expect tax to be paid, but rather than having this kept in Malaysia, or anywhere else he chooses, its here, - and I for one am thrilled to have it in the country. And lets remember that this is one of the few things that hasn't been covered up - in many interviews Dilantha openly states that it was brought down tax free under special permission. Compare this to many other scandals currently going on in the country and frankly the issue instantly pales in comparison. This is a racing driver who is not only very successful, but proud of the country in which he hails from, not some politician seeking their own selfish gain, lining their pockets with tax payers money. Please lets remember this shall we?
  4. Although it is a very convenient way of obtaining your revenue license, if you need a duplicate - as I did once - it can be a real pain to get one. A trip to the renewal office in Maligawatte proved frustrating as they had no record of the internet issued license, depsite a photocopy being provided. Only after many wasted hours was I able to have the issue sorted out, but most staff memebers seem to be clueless as to the online method of renewal.
  5. Really enjoyed this episode. I'm looking forward to more motorsport specials.. Especially appreciated the fact that you didn't hold back on your criticism of track safety (more like lack of it), and you should be the ones the organizers are listening to when it comes to addressing these concerns in the future. Sound in the studio i feel could be improved, but you're definitely progressing with each episode. Supra, I feel is getting more into his stride now, so keep up the good work! Maybe look into facial expressions and body language as well as tone variation too. Will await the next episode!

    New F10 Bmw 528

If you're interested in the car, and you've already got first choice from the agents, surely they would be the ones to ask about the specifications of the car they intend to sell you?
  7. Does anyone have any idea what time the 1st race will be held?
  8. Hey guys, The BMW club will be having a meet-up on Sunday the 11th of December. You can find more details on the Facebook event page: https://######?eid=144255122346836
  9. Yeah, its actually a Holden Statesman, based on the Cadillac DeVille I believe.
  10. To obtain your licence if you're a foreign citizen you need to have a residence visa that is valid for at least 6 months after the date of applying for the license. You can then either convert a foreign licence, or take the normal procedure (written test and practical), but you're forced to pay quite a premium over what Sri Lankan citizens pay.
  11. If you had a galaxy ace you would have Google Maps preinstalled (as on any android phone), which is quite detailed for colombo atleast....
  12. Correct me if I'm wrong, but i recall that there is a way to get HC bikes registered legally provided you get clearance from the Defense Ministry.
  13. Saw this last night.... The fact that they flew it here is even more astounding.... Must have cost an arm and a leg....
  14. Reminds me of an episode of top gear (I think) when the said that Austalians were disappointed that the grill of new defenders being made out of plastic, as they used to use them as barbecues...
  15. Did I just see this car for sale?
  16. Indeed... It'll be interesting to see how this effects R*D B*LL, especially during qualifying, although they still seem pretty confident that they have the edge. Mclaren too are supposed to have a pretty good set up, so i guess it'll be ferrari who benefit the most.
  17. Indeed its a matter of taste and opinion. For me I like to keep things as realistic as possible, minimize the things that can be spotted as photoshopped, and then there are those who like you say, are more "artisitc" in their approach. And without out a doubt theres alot of good stuff out there which i respect. But I wouldn't say one way was better than the other, nor would one way be "taking it to the next level". They are totally different approaches for different people. It takes a great deal of talent with both scenarios.
  18. Well this is my interpretation of what a European car should look like after some photoshopping, but that's just me
  19. What a Legandary race. Unbelievable. Button pitted 6 times, had a drive through penalty, puncture, multiple wing changes and came through to win on the last lap. Thats the F1 I love! Wonder how the stewards will deal with Hamilton....
  20. http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.2172155103313.2135536.1229848523 Here's the FB album. Looks like the emphasis was on a cop being present, but with no authority... :/ You can see people their traditional wheelies, sans even the most basic protection of a helmet with a cop (on his own "mean machine") looking on... Glad I didn't go....
  21. If we're gonna get graphic about this then please watch the below video, and hopefully it will drum some sense into people who still think that its better not to wear a seatbelt. Do not watch if you can't take a bit of "horror". Showing people things like this is the only way to make them understand. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xaSqVlgKB6s
  22. Yeah, although there are rumors that it'll be a (gulp) hybrid...... :S
  23. Never have a seen such a ridiculous thread. Seatbelts save lives. Period I'd rather be alive and stuck in a car till cut out than be dead without a seatbelt. And as for the "special tool" used by firefighters, oh yes, they have special tools for use in accidents. But cutting through a seatbelt is the least of their worries. They have much more specialized equipment to cut through mangled metal to ensure the safe extraction of occupants: I was lucky enough to see a demonstration of this (similar to the drill in the video), and its quite amazing really. The sad thing is, most people here would be worried about the extra damage and insurance claims that such lifesaving would add. :/
  24. Its his own fault, but thats his nature. He went for gaps that may not have been there. He really needs to let his driving do more talking and not shoot his mouth off like this. That statement could easily be interpreted as an accusation of racism.... :/
  25. Agreed. Best race of the season imo. Especially with the top 3 cars nose to tail. Could've been a very different story had the back markers not crashed. Disappointing drive by Hamilton, but he tends to bounce back, lets see. I still wondering if he'll get another penalty for Maldando's crash. Once the race was restarted it wasn't nearly as close as it was, but it showed how capable three of the best drivers in the sport are, and could've gone in any 3 ways.
