Real world car: Focus RS Ideal car: Ferrari 458 (or Ferrari FF, if wifey has a say!)
-
Wowx2!! That's what I'm talking about. A real world hot hatch with enough horses to run riot. And the color is the exact same I fell in love with when shown on TG a long while back. Darin, where can we get a glimpse of the car?

I find this amusing .. and sad!

I would be (pleasantly) surprised if the 'expressway' average speed exceeds 75 kmph. Many of our drivers would be willing to use the expressway but very few would know how to use it properly and maintain speed - or indeed make a quick decision based on circumstances.
-
That's what I meant to say bro! didn't know the exact right word.

That an unreg Z4? With a Trinity sicker on the back. Damn I thought it was a hard top - was that seamless (no that I've seen two to compare)...
-
On a slightly related note, saw the red SLS AMG (KS number) and a red Z4 hardtop (unregistered) together at Odel. Looked awesome together although the Z4 could not simply stand up to the SLS. I was just thinking that with all the German and Jap and British cars around, what we really need is a red 458 Italia to spice thing up to the max No sign of the DB9 so far?

Yeah right mate - hopefully you'll grow out of it someday!

Are we being envious here? .. I work for a couple of people who probably make 55 million LKR in about every 10 days. I'm talking about profit, not turnover. They too went from (not exactly) rags to riches but they abhor corruption and maybe are as ethical as you can find anywhere in the world. Infact, they've won global awards for ethics. The problem is ... they drive 6-7 year old Mercs ... (whereas one of their main competitors in SL drives a 2010/11 GTR!) LOL There are lot of ways people can make money and for some (like my employers) 55 mill LKR is not a big deal.

So you're saying specifications aside, a brand new 141 with 2k on the clock, is crap compared to a 2 year old Axio with 25k on the clock? I'm genuinely flabbergasted. (note that I would tend to believe this .. if I were to be a car salesman struggling to move my stock of two dozen Axio's with the inflated price).

2 year old Jap car is better than a 6 month old (Euro/Jap/Korean ..even Indian/Chinese) car (assuming we are comparing apples to apples) ...???? Wow, that's the sort of logic that makes Sri Lanka the most wonderful country of all!! Imagine a 2 year old Axio looking down at a 6 month old A4 in disgust!

Any chances of a pavilion near those guns (elevated platform) near the Galle-Face/Intercon roundabout? This will give a view of both sides of the track. Will it be free standing for spectators from Galle face side? (hope so..)

Great news .. but the DB9 on the stock suspension would be a killer to drive on many our roads. Thankfully a lot them around city are being re-paved. What I would really love to see though are some hot hatches like the Focus RS, DS3, Clio cup etc. Those would be fun to roll-around in a day-to-day basis.

Ela ela .. making the most out of it while they can

Apart from re-paving the road, I sure hope the lighting will also be looked at. We don't want a race in dim light (yeah, I'm thinking of the photos as well )

I tend to agree fully with all what Don said above. K11 is a pretty nifty car, I've taken it to places where I would not / could not go with my current, bigger car. It can be pretty handy in traffic and once I've taken it almost off road (there was no road!) in mud and rocks to Mahiyanganya - when they were doing up the 18-bend road. That was when even vans and other cars could not negotiate the same road with the same agility. Absolutely no repairs over the 1 year I had it, though I serviced it pretty tightly and it was a reluctant parting when the time came as I could not maintain 2 cars at the same time. I've had loads up to 400kg in the car at times but you could only hope to get 6-7 kmpl with such loads : but with only the two - it was breezy and could match any big boys within the traffic of Colombo. Recommend it to anyone who can spare a little extra fuel for the 1000cc version and comfortable with regular top-speeds of 80kmph, that too with flooring the pedal liberally.
-
I've had 4 jobs with Ma$n@ so far and all 4 times the owner inspected the vehicle at the end of the repair and of course took a test drive after suspension repairs. The last time was about 2 months back. But the prices are definitely out of the line with certain (repeat) customers getting a better deal than the newer ones. One suggestion would be to bring your own parts - but that tends to make you very unpopular with the owner We need one more big player in Mazda servicing and repairs and looking forward to other experiences from other places by the members.

Ahhh .. a topic close to my heart. I'm totally pissed off by drivers who don't understand how to use lanes. Let's excuse the threewheel drivers who are bloody morons and doesn't possess any sense of decency nor probably education. But you would assume those who have enough sense to decide any buy and drive a proper car or an SUV would know how to stick to lanes - proper ones at that, and how to signal and move to the next one. But on your typical morning afternoon or evening at duplication or the galle road, you will see the morons either hogging two lanes, going all over place or wavering within the lane as if they don't know how to go straight. I've seen that most of the blocks are created by other divers accommodating these strings of morons to correct themselves just before a junction/traffic light or near a policeman. This is uber-idocacy and I'm tempted to police them on my own and if I had a sort of a disposable vehicle, I just might. The other bunch of dimwits are the ones who take to the '3rd lane' or the opposite lane whenever there is a relatively long block or a queue and expect to butt-in at the top. I hv never, ever in my life let anyone in front of me in such a situation (despite risking my paintjob) but again a lot of timid drivers accommodate them, again creating a further traffic block and a delay for decent, respectable drivers who hv stuck to their lanes. I guess most of these people do not understand the fact that in traffic, you hv to 'go slow, to go fast' and thus create risky situations for everyone because others are forced to make undesirable moves to manage those few morons. I truly wish & hope more people will be less timid and not be scared to put those errant few in their places .. or at least in their correct lanes [apologies for the rant!]

Well, if the initial owner has signed the 'open' papers MTA6 - then it's a single transfer. That seems to be the whole purpose of this open papers business. Not that I approve of it.
-
You can't hv WP/SP/NP etc on old Number plates - I saw a cop asking a driver to remove those on a car which was stopped for some different offence near Colpetty.
-
Looks like it - same goes for CH, Gym, HSBC and Lemon. They hv not made Maitland Place raod two-way, hv they?

On a lighter note - since the subject came up - Emails from an A** Hole : makes good leisuretime reading. Not that I approve making fun of legitimate advertisers
