Last year i went to renew my license with the old green test report since its say the valid period is 1 year. (At the time it was not expired.) But the guy was in the counter said the green certificate is valid only 3 or 6 month from the date its obtained even it says the validity period is 1 year. So i had to get a new one and renew my license. I dont know whether that law is changed by this moment.

What about Toyota Starlet EP71 ? I think its fulfill some of your requirements (maintenance cost, spare parts availability, resale value, gas mileage etc.)

I'll start myself with a small story. As i remember 6 years back (i think its year 2003/2004) we got our family vehicle. (Actually we changed our vehicle.) It was a townace lotto & that days its near to 9 lak. Then after 2-3 weeks the government suddenly increase the import tax, so the market price increased by 30-40%. During last few years we used our lotto. In this year, few days before the sinhala/tamil new year we got a small damage on our vehicle. And few days later a broker came with a buyer and asked about the vehicle. We were not planning to sell our vehicle, but we gave it to him without repairing anything due to damage. In that days we all knew that its very difficult to find a vehicle with good condition & everyone wants to sell their vehicles for absurd prices. I did my best to find a vehicle, but i couldn't. So we went back and see whats happening in the vehicle industry. I also knew about tax reduction, but not with the actual dates its gonna happen. However the day came last week. So again its time to find a good vehicle at least for a realistic figure. :unsure:

I am not telling you 2 not 2 buy a Nissan Serena, because of its ur money. But serena by default comes with a engine overheating problem. Many serena owners know it. (But we can see plenty of buyers are using them.) My personnel opinion is its better if u can go for a toyota van (cr 26, cr 26, cr 42, cr 42 etc..). sanjeew ... I think corolla 110 (none crystal light model due to ur expected price range) or starlet EP 91 (of cause 91 is a one of best) are the best options for you. Bt here u didn't mention about ur prefered registration number range. ( am i right? ). If u go 4 a starlet 91, of cause u can go 4 a english number car within ur budget. ( Its depend on the condition of the vehicle. ) Bt 4 a corolla 110 its not much easy 2 find a english number car with non crystal light model ( But u may try ). 4 corolla 110, SE saloon is the higher grade. Then comes XE Saloon etc.. 4 starlet, reflect is the higher market grade. And with starlet, its better 2 go with 4 door car. ( caret is a higher grade, but not much market in SL )

But as we all know, basically we can see two types of Toyota Corolla AE 110 model vehicles in sri lanka. Those are Before 1997 model (normal light model) After 1997 model (crystal light model) Even in above two types of vehicles, we can find different types of grades with different options. So i hv following questions, 1:) What are the main differences between early 1997 AE 110 model and late 1997 AE 110model ? 2:) Which model does better on fuel (only from above two) ? 3:) What about second hand market of above two models of AE 110 (of cause both are corolla) ? 4:) Can anyone explain about the different grades of each vehicle seperatelly with their options ? 5:) Anyone have idea about price range of each vehicle (specially for AE 110 crystal light model with G-xxxx numbers and H-xxxx numbes) ?
