//Which Cat Should I Buy? may be masterdon's famous WTF cat
-
wow...it seems bike is in super condition..Btw did u paint it or just the original paint?and good to hear your problem is solved..
-
sounds like misfiring and a 'poof' sound in between normal strokes...// //how about the petrol condition?did u put petrol purchased from a local mudalali's kade? normaly "poof" sound comes when water is mixed with petrol..first remove the petrol line from the tank empty the petrol tank..then race the engine until the petrol in the carb burns out.. then fill some trusty petrol in to the tank and do the test i mentioned in the previous comment..if the problem exist then we should worry about the contact points and the carb.....// Will need to open the whole right side of the engine to replace the plates right? As it's a multi plate type, any idea how much they cost? u can do it with using original seal set under 1k..(depends on the mechanics fees..)
-
Not really sure about the condition as the engine has been opened only once due to a kick starter problem and none of the internal parts replaced //i think there should be crack or breaking point in the oil seal(specially areas near the screws putin..cause if the seal is not properly placed when turning the screw the seal might get torned..) Is it ok like some say to replace the carb with a 22mm one? Is there anyone who's good at tuning these? //machan..i'm not recommending to use a different carb..try to replace with original parts..because 33 years old bike need a good treatment with respect(not uncompatible parts around her) :) .. Also there's another small problem with the GB, when moving from a stop, the throttle has to be kept slightly open by hand to not kill the engine, and when engaging the gear, it slips and goes 'kraaass', so have to put to neutral and back. Any idea why? //well seems to me a wear down clutch plate..and btw can u made the engine running without a knock in the neutral (without turning the air/fuel adjusters in the carb)for at least 1-2 minutes..if u cant i think u need needle replacements or worse entire carb replacement(cause IMHO 33+ years of functioning is a way too much expecting from a carb if the original odo reading reading is in the range of 100000kms..honestly i cant belive ur odo meter reading of 30k's..surely some one has altered it.unless u purchased it as a brand new one
-
Oh and there is a slight oil squeezing out problem when running for more than 15 mins, not big but it comes out of the left side cover. What should be replaced? //well..what's the condition of the oil seal?should replace it if it has openings/crack points// Ah yes we took there once and think some parts have been changed by workers or so for non genuine ones //yes this guy is purchasing items from colombo when he has plenty of orders to fulfill. and since genuine items are bit pricey it's natural to go for thailand ones..or may be he has used some previously purchased spare parts..who knows ..may be u should directly ask from the owner.(he is a disabled guy..so easy to spot..)and tell him ur part of the story// Need the white fairing cuz it cracked, and not the Thailand one, original Jap one, any idea where to find? //machan i dont think that u can purchase those in the kandy city..defineatly u should come to panchikawatta...spare parts are every where for honda c90 there(brand new & used ones.)janaka motors is a famous pot for brand new japaneese bike spares.. also there is a pot in ja-ela area called "wasantha motors"..they also got plenty of japaneese spare parts for honda bikes..contact no is 011-2233782,011-2232188, fax 011-2233782..give them a buzz and see // PS:- any ways i suggest u to replace ur plug with Ngk and see the diffrence..and if are decided to change the carb please dont use thailand or chineese..those are craps..In 2002 i replaced the carbulator of my father's old honda c70 with an original one..it was around 10,500 those days..(because it had same issue like ur's c90..lot of misses and pain..serviced the carb, changed the needle set..but the problem was not solved.so with fury i replaced the damn carb..and the problem solved..no more charas baras :D )
-
machan..did u tried the gampaha motors(near pilimatalawa town).this shop is run by a former military personal and heard he is goods at it..and about the c90, well did u recently changed the air filter and the plug? and how about the exhaust system..did u ever flush the engine before? if u haven't i think it's a good option..cause ur bike is almost 33years old. so go there and see..........

Radio With Pre-Set Stations For Home Use - Where To Get?
lokulamaya replied to eyepea's topic in The Lounge
yes peri.we can buy a radio with preset buttons.but most of the time u can not save the radio stations to the chip.even for high end sets(price more than 30k)it's very rare to find one which can retain the memory for more than one week.but for car audios they use nvrams which could store for longer time period without the help of the standby mode.. -
Radio With Pre-Set Stations For Home Use - Where To Get?
lokulamaya replied to eyepea's topic in The Lounge
Am wondering how practical it is to hook up a set of speakers, a 12V battery and a telescopic aerial to a car radio and use it at home. well not a bad idea..i have seen this kind of arrangement in several Barbour, tailor shops..problem is if u use a battery u have to charge it ne..hence try a power pack or power supply that support at least 1-2 A.(ampeer) depending on the p.m.p.o of ur car set.. cheers -
Need Some Advice From Some Actual Experts In The Automotive World
lokulamaya replied to jdnet's topic in General Automotive
well jd....most of the local television automobile shows are full of body kit advertisements, personality promotions and car-setup promos..and not to mention repetitive broadcasting of the same program until they find a new topic..so most viewers are not interested in those. since you are related to an English news paper i would suggest you to publish more general items related to the automobile industry.. 1.you can start up with an article such as high demand vehicals in sri lanka (by their make ,model &year) and have a in depth analysis regarding the pros and cons of each vehicle and their current market value.(of course a discussion regarding general problems related to each model will be a nice add up ) 2.general procedure on buying a vehicle, procedures to transfer a vehicle to another district, pros and cons of buying shared ownership vehicles,Tax schemes related to different vehicle categories, common problems related to vehicle registration, common fraudulent activities done by specially car sales to sell cheap quality vehicles, common myths regarding unpopular yet good quality vehicles are some of the topics you could elaborate on.. 3. If u need to catch up our young guns, surely you need to focus on motorbikes(not just daily commuters type, but also vintage , racing & trailer type bikes )as far as i remember daily m****r had something similar to this and they had a huge fan base for this section(even my dad used to like it).. cheers......... -
Wow..wow...wow...simply awesome..madz this is great buddy.........So where are our gurus..ripper,masterdon,sumiya.....come on guys wake up..AL is back in action.....

Caska Car Audio. Is It A Good One ?
lokulamaya replied to nissan_fan's question in Electrical problems
machan tell u the truth i dont know about Pet#o..but this advance fellows should be ashamed of them selves.they are charging high money for nothing..one of my friend took his touchscreen kenwood car set cause it had some flaws in the load unload bay..they took about 4 days to repair..but when we go their to pick it they said your work is not over..and we had to wait about 1.5 extra hours..then we thought enough is enough and went to their repairing section without notifying the first guy we talked to.. when we went thier we were just stuned..the technician had never touch the cover even..but to hide that he said machan i even replaced the ic and it worked once now it's not working..it was just a 8 pin small ic(Ic no is not a familiar one).. so what to do we went home empty handedly. couple of days after our friend went again ..the story was the same..so he talked to boss and request the setup back...set was in the same faulty condition..do u know the price they have charged Rs 8500.. set was at the same fu**ing condition when we hand over to them... my friend was busy those days to sell his car..so he bear the loss and sell the car with the setup and had told the new owner about the real situation..for some reason the new owner was unable to find that IC here in sri lanka..and some how he was manage to get the IC from singapore(through his cousin)..really funny part was that IC was less than 1600 in sri lankan rupees..So we can understand how they do thier business. So i will say this.. ADVANCE AUDIO..OR WHAT EVER SHIT..DONT SHOW THIS KIND OF RETARDED UGLY TRICKS TO OUR PEOPLE..U GUYS MAY CATCH UP THE WHOLE WORLD SOME DAY..BUT WHEN U LOOK BACK THIER ARE THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE HERE IN SRI LANKA WAITNG TO SPIT AT UR UGLY F*****G FACE... That's it... -
well as far as i know most most emergency lamps(not cheap ones) got a good cycle life and self discharge rate..so definitely their batteries should be of high quality..and another alternative option you could use is UPS batteries(sealed type)..u could buy a sealed type battery with higher AH(ampeer hour) for reasonable price..check at the atula building as i mentioned to 3000cc.. i think it will definitely suit ur requirement...

dc 6v vaccum cleaner...mmm first time heard about it..well coming to the alternator..well alternator is just another device which use to genarate an AC signal(by using a bride u could convert it in to a dc signal.)so basically in a vehical we use it to charge the battery(when the engine is running)..but u can not use an alternator with a vaccum cleaner unless u have some method to rotate the alternator...but for ur requirement it's wise to fix a 6v motorbike battery and charge it when u want it..otherwise fixing a 12v battery and a converter will not be a effective solution..or else by using a transformer and convert the 230ACV to about 3ACV and by using a bride u could also get a value around 6DCV.. but it's bit complicated u see.. i got another idea..why dont u simply buy 4 rechargeable energizer battries(will cost around 200 rupees..not sure.) and buy a simple charger(u could buy it on the pavement)

spot on mate....need to appolagize it's not parallel..should be serial.(what the hell i was thinking about.. )thanks mate.... any how my friend 3000cc ..if ur requirement is to attach a cd player to ur system and get the output through the speakers without going for funky subs and all ...then the converter will be fine..cause then the output u will be getting may be 10 -15 watts(not P.M.P.O just the r.m.s)..so if u put it in to this simple formula p =vi , where p is equal to watt that is lets say 15 watts ,then voltage is 12volts , so the ampeer value will be i=p/v , hence 15/12 will be 1.25 ampeers... obviously if ur system is not a high end one this is the ampeer value ur system will getting from the battery.... so when u are going to buy a 24to 12v converter make sure ur converter is capable of handling more than 1 ampeers..(by assuming ur system output is 15w) hope u will find a good converter.........
-
if ur using 2*12v batteries parallel(sorry it should be serial) it's not wise to separately take 2 terminations from one battery. the best solution is to buy a 24 to 12v converter..btw u can build your own converter if u know little about electronics or else will cost less than 500 rupees if u can hire a good electronic technician.
-
well..well my friend if u are going to do something like this in front of a busy policeman, make sure u have atleast 1500 rupees in ur pocket..or worse prepare ur self to visit the nearest police station...
-
1..u can search it in the 1st cross street colombo port ..there is a building called "atula building..it has lot of elctronic stuffs for reasonable price" for the subs... depend on the amper requirement and the WATTS. but it's more than good to go for a separate 12v battery if u are to build a high end subs with powerful amp(s) 2. what u mean by other way? 3..ur question is not clear. friend..
