Hi Fire Dragon, I can see that you are an expert on duty estimates! I am looking to get down a 2007-2008 Mazda Axella (I think the chasis model is BK5P) or a Subaru Impreza (chasis model: GH2 or a GD2). Appreciate it if you could give an estimate on the total duty and other taxes. Cheers.

Don't meean to scare you, but, if you dont get the oil changed immediately most probably you will need to do the next change in less than 20,000 km (ie. the vibration will start sooner than 20,000 km) Check with Stafford, they should have it. But, sometimes they do go out of stock. There is another place you could try (T**k Motors), but, agents are the best option (more reliable)

Mate, also note that the age of the car for the purpose of calculating depreciation is taken as the period between the date of first registration and the date of shipment (B/L date). On this basis if it comes to between 2 and 3 yrs, then the depreciation factor will be 75%. Good luck, Cheers!

This is what I know; First you will have to find out what the local agent (Stafford) will quote as FOB price for a brand new one of the same model. Multiply this by 0.75 (since it's a 2007 model) to take into account the depreciation. To this value, you have to add the cost of freight, Insurance and the valuation of accessories. Usually the freight and insurance costs should also be quoted by the agents and should be specifically applicable for the same model on the date of your importation or those applicable for a similar model if this model is now discontinued. You can now multiply this final value by 1.18 to get the tax component, ((Agent's FOB value * 0.75) + Freight + Insurance + valuation of accessories)*1.18 To get an approximate value you could perhaps take the freight+insurance+accessories value as around 3000USD ? This what I have found out, so please double check before making decisions. cheers!
