  3. Same as SeadD and Dilesh. I think some big guys have pocketed a massive amount and just trying to finish it off. These things are not new in SL and from contractors to politicians we know all take short cuts. Makeing the road even little narrow for the whole distance (eg 120km) will save them alot in materials. These things are mostly once off projects and planning and budgetinng should be done with alot of due care. Not to mention their idea of making it a toll way! If some one is expected to pay to drive on it I think it's fair from a user point of view to expect more safty and comfort for what they are paying. Good one Dilesh about Mervin pulling things from his Sarong. Had a good laugh

  5. Hi guys, I was wondering if there was any restrictions on the wheel sizes on vehicles in SL. I mean if some one uses 17' rims is it illegal? Have the same issue with the legality of low profile tires. If I send wheels via sea mail, what is the customs treatment for it? I know a guy here who ships things to SL but I wasen't sure about the customs treatment. I had a read through the thread about sending parts via post but since this is not post was wondering. Has any one did this before? If so could you please share us the process. thanks in advance
  6. Same here. I already thought about people who never let the RPM go over 2 or 3 and think they are driving "economical". Not to mention all the other thing done on road by our drivers.
  7. The compression is way to high to kick on a daily basis and if you have ever had a bike backfire you would know what I mean. If a 600cc backfires while your leg is on the kicker it could break your leg. KTMs are nice bikes. He tried to sell me the orange one in the pic but I don't like the looks and they are way too pricey. Have never ridden a KTM so far though. I'm not sure about the restrictions but most of them have big strong engines AFAIK.
  8. The roads look quite narrow, specially if cars are going to be doing 120km/h. I do not need to tell the effects of crashing at that speed in such a narrow road. The 4 lans in the pictures are only enough for 3 lanes and a shoulder. It's a curse that when some thing good like this haapens to the general public, specially an important infrastructure development, we are famous for lack of planning and not to consider future developments in mind. All glory to chinthaka Driving in a tunnel at high speeds sounds like a plan or why don't you guys sell your cars and buy three wheelars or motorbikes as the road is only wide enough for them. (I know bikes and tuk tuks are banned on these high ways but i'm sure you could get away with it as I don't think any one will bother to check these.

  10. Ya it was a nice bike but kick start only and you would know the pain of kicking a 600cc engine every day. I wanted a road bike and this one needed blinkers and a set of road tires to make it road worthy. This bike was here in Aus and I was negotiating for AUD 2600 plus the additional cost and the seller wanted AUD 3000. Some one paid AUD 2750 and took it. These were made in Belgarda in Italy and are very strong and awesome machines on the track. This had 15,000kms on the clock and knowing dirt bikes, normally they are thrashed. Wanted to do some research before I bought it and when I was satisfied and went it had already gone instead he tried to sell me a KTM but I'm not a fan of those. I actually went to the shop to get a part for my other bike and saw this and fell in love. Haven't thought about a dirt bike since the but XR400 are quite appealing.

  19. Asking price is way too high and when it comes to dirt bikes double head lights don't turn me on. Sorry not my type of a girl
  20. We all know that a Hyudai with a Honda badge will be more expensive than a normal one. Our market is always biased to Jap cars and specially there is a certain segment in the market which will only go for Hondas. As mentioned by some one before the Honda's imported as much less compared to the other brands such as Toyotas and that makes them even more expensive. I'm more of a Bemer person but when it comes to Jap cars I have always had Toyotas and Nissans. (Would admit that Honda's are great value for money and the drive feels awsome too)
  21. Thanks Wish. They give two lence here a 18-55 VR and a 55-200 VR. I prefer a wide angle like what u have mentioned though. Also the SL one, which country is it made in? Honkong I assume.

  23. I have come up with some great ideas after seeing so many people worrying too much about their km/l figures. Shered some weight from your car by removing all un nessary things such as spare wheel, tools and any luggage in the boot. For people who wanna go the extra mile and do not take any passangers around try getting rid of your passanger and rear seats. Should help you cut some kilos hence more kms for a liter When you are going down a hill always knock it in to nutural and roll all the way down. Take advantages of the fly overs in Dehiwala and Nugegoda if you travel in that route. Make sure to threten the guy at the pump and tell him not to play tricks as you already know the game well enough. If you have access to a lab try to pinch a beaker or measuring jar and ask the guy at the pump to pump into that and you could transfer it into the tank. The pain should be worth the extra kms. Try to get up early in the morning and go to office since you don't wanna get caught to the school traffic which is a massive disaster for your km/l. You should also leave office around 11pm while the roads barely have any one to make even more savings on your fuel bill. I'm sure your boss will be impressed. Try not to use A/C. Try to get hold of one of those small DC fans which work on a car battrey. Should keep you cool enough. If you don't know where to get one of these fans ask the three wheelar guys around Maradana area and they should be able to give you a hand. You could also get rid of some parts such as starter mortor and battrey. try to install a crank shaft instead of your starter motor and if you wanna keep your motor but happy to shred your battrey (they are quite heavy you see) make sure you have people around to give you a push when you wanna start. Keeping light weighted jumper cables in the car could also come handy. Last but not least try to go to a good gym to get rid of those extra kilos. Will keep you healthy and give you more kms at the pump. Hope these tips help. Just for fun, no offence intended PS - If any one wants unrealistic numbers from their vehicle they have been asked to contact Crisco Nihal in order to have a fiddle with their ECU to down/up grade it. for people who don't know him "Some say he works for Crisco and some say he has a down graded Allion which is extremely cool but all we know is he is called Nihal."
  24. How much is he asking for and whats your budget?
  25. Ya I saw the Gallent too and it looks really nice. JDnet got him self a Gallent - Diesel recently and seems to be happy with his purchase. He might be able to give you a review from a user point. I think he got it for 1.6Mil and comparing to that this Mitsu seems a bit expensive but I'm not sure of the condition of JD's vehicle though. If you find it from a private seller might be cheaper as the one on AL was from a car sales and they will have their margins. Hope this helps.
