Hi SIlver, Thanks for your posts and its very nice to find a fellow G27 User. After your suggestions I downloaded the demo of LFS and tried it side by side with Other Sims. I do like it as a racing experience and gives a great load of fun but IMO iRacing is much serious when it comes to all others. 1. Mainly I think iRacing physics is better than LFS. Particularly in capturing the way the car behaves with shifting of weight in acceleration and braking. Loss of traction, reaching the limit of grip is much more accurately represented in iRacing in comparison to all sims i have tried. This is the main reason. 2. Not having actual cars and tracks is bit off putting for me. I know LFS do contain representations of actual cars (in different names) but still... I wish i could say that I'm driving a digital version of Supra GT or a Mini, by Name. (Just a Psychological thing... ) All n all, let me absorb it a little bit and perhaps we could meet for a few races. Cheers, K9M

BMW 528i F10, Audi A6 2.5T Quattro, or if you can stretch your budget a little bit more Mercedes E300... But if you want to be loyal to toyota, you'd probably will be able to buy 2 Camries (2.4)

Didn't wanna promote the service I used so I PMed you.

Hi MD, These are great tips, thanks very much. I decided that i'm not gonna use any driver aids from the very beginning. Manual clutch and H shifter. Wanted to experience the real thing. Practiced and now bit ok in handling the throttle without much affect on weight distribution. Can put a few decent laps without spinning or crashing now Pontiac Solstice (Rookie edition) is the least powerful car there with 178bhp. I used this for practicing as I thought low power should be good for beginners. But using this in "Lime Rock Park", the track which i mostly use for practicing, doesn't allow many opportunities for braking. Controlled throttle is enough to get through most of the corners and flat on the floor in the main straight. Am i doing it wrong or should i switch to a car with more power? Cheers, K9M

I also opted for combination tickets and reserved 3. Hope they'll put us in a good spot. Emailed them asking which spectator stand yesterday but didnt get a reply yet. Did Sunday Times say where the tickets can be purchased?

Since they launched it here in October, I think there could be one or two... Sigh... Love that car...

Wait a sec... hold the phone... There's a 2011 6 series here?

Hi Guys, Checked out iRacing and loved it here’s my comparison of same with Simbin simulators and rFactor which I have been using for some time. Physics in comparison to other sims, I’ve tried, is awesome. Under-steer & over-steer based on how acceleration and braking forces apply seems pretty realistic but can’t say for certain as I don’t have real life racing experience. As for Steering Feedback, I love the limited options available to adjust it. With other racers you can adjust various aspects of force feedback you just don’t know what’s real. Here you can only adjust the strength and damping. Not very happy about the selection of cars available. A lot of bias is there for American cars. No real euros available except for the original Ford GT40 which is not available for rookies unless you purchase. Most of the time tried the MX5 roadster (which also has its European roots) and Pontiac Solstice. (Low power cars which are not a handful) Physic notably change from car to car (which was ok with most of the Sims) Tracks department is pretty much American too but the representation of track is so detailed and realistic in comparison to GTR2 and Race 07. They claim to use a special laser scanning system to replicate even the minute track details which are not present in most of the other Sims. All ‘n all, it’s a pretty SERIOUS sort of a racing Sim. There are no computer controlled cars for us to race against. Only internet hosted multiplayer. You can only practice in the available cars and tracks just by yourself. Practice you need plenty when you get in to the races. Even rookies you find are pretty skilled. Races initiated by iRacing are held as events governed by a strict set of rules similar to real life racing. Winning these races will upgrade your rep as well as your racing license. Allowing you to get cars with more power and drive in more sophisticated tracks. More details as I go on… P.S.: Thanks MD for introducing this…

Not only the road is great but when you reach udawalawe you'll be in for a treat -
Hi MD, Awesome game for cooling off and having fun. Thanks for sharing. PS3 costs around S$500.00 which is very hard to put together when you are not single. I had to buy a new dining table for the home before going on an spending on the wheel. Guess PS2 will take a lot of time. So planning to make an offer on a PS2 belonging to a friend of mine. Asked him to bring in over in the weekend to hook the wheel up and have a go on GT4. I subscribed for iRacing and downloaded the tracks and cars available for the rookie level. Didn't have time to try it out yet as things have been crazy at work. Will try it out and post.

Buying A Bmw E32 730I 1994. Need Pointers!!!
k9master replied to ssahank's question in Car Buying Information
Guys, OT but isn't there a E31 in SL? I have seen this a couple of years back but not lately. Anyone know any info on this car? Which model is it and other interesting stuff? -
Hi Velocity, By any chance does your friend have an apartment in Jaic? I'm blessed with the sight of this Z4 everytime I park there. Cheers, K9M
-
Guys, There is a white Z4 E89 here as well. I was coming from Ratnapura to Awissawella a couple of weekends back and saw an exotic convoy whiz past. The red Z4, a white Z4 and a white Merc E Cabrio... An awsome sight... Cheers, K9M

Hi MD, Thanks for the tip. Will check out IRacing. Well, the ultimate idea is to get hold of GT5 as well, but its quite a big investment. Right now, I'm out of cash as i spent on the wheel. But planning to buy a PS3 and GT5 along with it in a couple of months. Hook the wheel up and it will be awsome. What's your openion on GT4 vs GT5 handling aspect? I can get on to GT4 sooner. Cheers, K9M (Edited Line Spacing)

Hi Guys, I'm just getting in to Sim Racing (what to do when you are not lucky enough to get in to the real thing) Made the first investment on a good wheel, Logitech G27 and in the process of trying out a few sim games (Demos) Simbins GTR2 Simbins Race 07 rFactor So far loving the GTR2 more than anything but the rest is also quite fun and pretty darn good. Trying with all driver aids off with clutch enabled manual shifting. Still not skilled enough to shift over 3rd in most of the areas of the track Invite all of you to use this thread to share your experience on the topic including good simulators, platforms gear etc. etc. Especially the members who have real racing + sim racing experience please help me or anyone interested to setup cars, tune force feedback any many more. Cheers, K9M

IMO if you had been a fan of beemers "right throughout" a stripped down permit car and some buttons and gizoms wouldn't have caused you to switch loyalty

A New Way Of Cheating At Fuel Sheds In Sl !!
k9master replied to Chathurike's topic in News & Updates
Hi Guys, Openning this can of worms again because of something i experienced few hours back. Because of a few complicated chain of incidents irrelevant to this discussion, tonight I ran out of fuel for the first time in my life. Car stopped in the middle of the road. Luckily a filling station was close by from which I brought 3ltrs of petrol in 2 bottles just for me to tkae the car to the station for a full tank. After bringing the car to the station, I asked the guy to pump until the its automatically stopped. After a wait I noticed that 49 Litres has gone in but the pump is operating at the full speed. For a moment there I thought that the sensor must be broken and asked the guy to stop pumping immediately. However, by the time he stopped it it was over 51 Litres but the it was no where close to a spillover. So the initial 3 Litres plus the 51 added makes it 54 Litres. But the tank capacity is just 50L (Nissan Presea R11). Lets say the fuel circuit takes in 1 or 2 litres and the Fuel filler pipe takes the rest. But I've seen when the tank is filled slightly more than its capacity the Fuel guage needle rises slightly passing the "F" mark. But in this case it was a bit lower than "F". On the way I was just wondering if the pump was caliberated to show about 10% more than whats pumped? an easy way to make more profit right. In most of the occasions its not noticable. But with a rare situation similar to what I faced today, it could get highlighted. What are your thoughts? Am I just being paranoid? Also wanted to point out that I'm not a guy who tries to save every single cent on petrol. But no point in getting cheated if all this is true. -
Hi Hasheeb, I have the same car as yours. Generally a white smoke is generated when engine coolent enters the combustion chamber and gets vapourized. It's basically steam. Burning oil generally gives out blue smoke. In your case, i think both oil and coolent is entering the combustion chamber but only white smoke is visible as the blue smoke is masked by the white smoke. In the Nissan GA engine, replacement of timing chain requires the disassembly of the cylinder head and if this was not re-assembled with the new gasket properly, water can easily leak into the combustion chamber and give out white smoke. In the re assembly of cylinder head there are number of gaskets which needs to be applied properly to ensure that oil is kept out of the cylinders. The bottom line is that your mechanic has done a botch job. Immediately stop using the car for your day to day journeys and get it checked out by an experienced mechanic. Problem is serious. So dont wait around thinking what oil to use or what easy fix can be applied for this. Experts please correct me if i have said something wrong

Thanks Rukster and VVTi. Tempting as it may be but for me now is not the right time. I have 4 months left in my current car lease after which I need to sell it. Its in a very good nick mechanically but paint is not in its ideal state so need to get that redone. So it would at least take me another 4-5 months for me to buy an E36. Plan is to sell my current car, keep the cash stand by, and hunt for a E36 with the intention of buying as soon as you see a good Car in need of some TLC .

Hi VVTi, Thanks for the response. Answer 1 & 2 gave me the confidence I needed to go forward. Q3 was posted solely driven by the temptation. Deep down I also wish to keep it the same way it was rolled out the assembly line. But I will kill myself before driving a car with a 318i M3 badge. Your garage has earned a lot of my respect. Its sad to think that i was not in a position to fight for the 323i. If it had been next year i would have engaged in a good bidding war. If you are selling your E39 someday, please drop me a PM. Who knows, by then i may be in a position to buy her and pamper her as well . If i had a E36 already, I would have definitely made an offer on the 164 (IF you plan to sell it, still). Anyway, thanks again for the answers. Will post more questions as I prepare myself to own my first beemer. Cheers, K9M.

Hi Guys, This thread looked quite interesting for me as I'm planning to go for a E36 myself next year. My favorite bimmer has always been the E39. But eventhough I can do all sorts of financing and afford a good one for about 3-4M, afterwards I may not be able to take care of it the way a BMW lover should, as I will be paying a big chunk on loans / leases. As a fan of boxy 90s styling, my next best thing is the E36. With this even if i dish out 2.5M I will still be able to pamper the ride and keep it in a mint condition. It may sound stupid to some but when i buy one, i'm planning to use it for a long long time as the primary car (but probably never sell it) and spend any amount of money to keep it or bring it up to the best possible condition. Also I think it could be fun to get hold of a neglected E36 and build it up to the best possible condition so that you can be proud one day of the effort that you have put in. So with all this in mind, here are my questions: 1. Can a workshop like Milroys, handle advanced stuff such as overhauls / complete rebuilds for bimmer engines? 2. Will it be possible to source parts such as interior panels, switches etc, to restore the car to the showrrom / best possible condition? 3. What are your ideas on tastful and correct conversions, such as converting to an M3. I believe in keeping the originality of cars but since we can not import a E36 M3 here can a guy dream to feel how it's like to drive one? Thanks in advance. Cheers, K9M

Hey VVTi and others, Sorry for bringing the country in to the picture. I was really frustrated and angry when I posted as I too had gone and pumped a tank full yesterday night (unaware of whats going on). In the morning I was scared of what may happen to the car due to this. Yes, this may happen in any country. But a trusted close friend in a shipping company, who directly handled this shipment told that C*C bought this stock knowing that the QA reports are bad. Further more the person in C*C as I mentioned, told that they may not dump this stock as there's a huge amount and might mix with good petrol and resell this. I bet these sort of thing never happens in any other decent country. Anyways, I agree that the country is not to be blamed. Just a few idiots who think only about their wallet. So sorry for that again. Btw, According to my friend in the Shipping Operations, IOC does import a certain amount of Petrol directly from India. Cheers, K9M
