  1. the other contradiction is that, in the first scan they have identified this as a lean misfire, but they are trying to apply a solution for a ignition misfire.
  2. sorry mate, i am far a way from Colombo (in middle of Galle district). i think other members will help you to find out a good place.try to pm lancer owners (members) yeah, technically it may harm Cat converter.but in this case also i would prefer our experts ideas.
  3. ok mate, then good mechanic will easily troubleshoot the problem, if you can find lancer specialist they might replace the cable temporally with good set of cables that they have to verify this. sometimes bad plugs might cause to ignition spark leak(simply spark will follow the lowest resistive path). but still this kind of misfires are categorized as "ignition misfire". then better to re-scan before you go to part replacement. the problem our local mechanics(most of, not all) has is they dont follow proper troubleshooting format. they just try to replace parts (trial and error) until problem got fixed.
  4. and the other thing is machan, if the misfire is due to ignition voltage leak, then you would feel the misfire when you are trying to accelerate quickly the vehicle.if the misfire is only present when the vehicle is idle then it is most probably a lean misfire.
  5. then try to observe this at night (dark env), then you would be able to see this sparks. anyway if it is a problem related to cables ,always the misfire should be in a single (or might be two) cylinder. then you may get a error code which we can identify the cylinder.
  6. if you are sure that it is a "lean misfire", dont replace the cables, then the problem is air/fuel mixture. but root cause might be a sensor or anything.... but no need to replace the cables. these are the probable areas. EGR valve problem Intake Manifold Gasket leak MAF Sensor. Fuel pump or pressure regulator problem Fuel filter related problem.
  7. Scan ur car for misfire error codes, i think error code supports to identify the cylinder (if it is limited to one) and you will be able to identify whether it is a "lean misfire" or not. if misfire is limited to one or two cylinder then you can eliminate lot of possibilities(most probably then it is a injector related or electrical related).
  8. there is a volvo S40 in Al classified.[Date Added: 4/9/2013] if you are lucky enough, you may get some info from this owner. i am posting this since no one hasn't replied yet
  9. sounds like a problem related to fuel path, but real root cause might be a different issue. few possibilities. 1. problem in fuel pressure regulator 2. might be a problem related to "fuel pump relay". 3. problem in IAT sensor in "first start in the morning" problem is not there, then try to "off and restart" the engine few times in the morning, or run engine 15 mins and off and try to restart it. try some possible actions to identify precise combinations and update the thread. i think you might have already read this funny story. http://www.netscrap.com/netscrap_detail.cfm?scrap_id=501 "first start in the morning" might be something like flavor of ice cream in this story(i am not kidding :-) ). more observations will help you to identify the real problem without doing "trial and error" part replacement.
  10. you are sure that you dont keep the key closer to car (i think it should be higher than 2m), right?
  11. This is the first thing you should try to eliminate. if you keep your fob close to car, then this can happen. the other thing is, you should have two fobs i think , is this same for the other fob?
  12. I thought that laughing gas is Nitrous oxide, now i am sure that it is HHO

  13. This is a OT question, but i would like to ask this question( due to my lack of knowledge). Rumesh, are you sure that 360km on full tank in 1999 prado is way below its design efficiency? i doubt that because in the very first post nana said that that effort should be definitely appreciated. then this prado should not have this kind of inefficient system.at least it should be close to its designed efficiency. please verify! anyway it is ok to answer me later, i think it is better to let flow the thread with this HHO generation questions
  14. too smart............ @Crosswind and CJ5, please don't put ur life in this kind of risk machan, drive ur car in E01 with a magical equipment(if this gadget has been wrongly spelled by this magician ). machan please don't do this.
  15. if you can clearly see that "plate" rotates when ac is switched off then you have identified problem. normally this plate should maintain a small clearance. if i understood correctly sometimes it will not maintain this gap and plate will touch (not fully engaged the clutch) and this makes the noise. then simply , something is wrong with the this mechanical parts. it might be a problem in AC clutch it self or some external problems alter the proper behavior of AC clutch. your technician thinks that faulty condenser alter the proper behavior of the AC clutch.it is also possible (since your technician competent enough) then the best option is if you or ur technician can find a condenser and attach it temporally and see. and the other thing is there is a small coil(just like insulation tape role) which magnetize the clutch to be engaged.due to some problems in relays sometime this coil might try to magnetize the clutch when ac is switched off.but this is very rare kind of problem. then clutch might try to partially engage.
  16. Great! i am going to do the same thing to my vehicle. then with the result,i am going to contact Toyota,GM,VW ....... and ask them "WTF are you doing in ur R&D teams, just look we have improved fuel combustion efficiency by 30% by injecting little amount of HHO". i am pretty sure that they will be ready to die to know this secret. small problem,my vehicle is not a 1999 prado. Thanks mate.
  17. Exactly. but mate, there is a forum member who has done this to his 1999 prado and improved the full tank mileage from 360km to 450km. and he tested this thoroughly. and he realize that there are some other advantages also like 'less engine vibration'. So machan, here you and I don't have right to say that he is trying to cheat us.so then i still trust him.
  18. I think car production companies R&D teams are sleeping. that is why we need to do this kind of after market changes to our vehicles. at least they were unable to build up a system to decouple the alternator when it is not necessary. one thing i know, normal air can be used to 100% fuel combustion. but there are some practical issues , ex: when engine revs 3000rmp , one piston will do 6000strokes per minute. one stroke will get only 0.01 seconds(10 ms). within 10ms fuel and air mixture should be filled up and total exhaust should be done in next 10 ms. due this time limitations system can not fully burn the fuel mixture. in the other end of world they are doing research work to eliminate these problems. but they have recruited wrong people for their R&D teams.thats why they haven't uncover that HHO will increase the fossil fuel combustion. enough jokes! burning fuel to get heat as the energy output(to cook something) and internal combustion engine mechanical power output is totally different. you all know that 78% nitrogen in the normal air mixture play a huge role in the combustion chamber. in the compression stroke piston will compresses the air mixture and the very beginning of the power stroke there will be a ignition and due to this ignition this air mixture will burn itself and unburnt part(normal air) will expand rapidly . simply it is a explosion. that explosion will push the piston to produce the power. nothing new, you all knew that.
  19. yeah, other than this question, does this system it self generate HHO or do we need to refill HHO externally? if we need to fill HHO externally , then this is useless...... if it generate HHO using water then it is definitely useless.. i think you all knw this simple science. electrolysis: 2 H2O → 2 H2 + O2 combustion: 2 H2 + O2 → 2 H2O we started with 2 H2O and after two conversions we ended up with 2 H2O. that means if two conversions are 100% efficient ,the energy you feed to generate HHO will be released at combustion. assume that for the first conversion you feed energy from car battery.then car battery will be charged by system it self.simply no additional output. if these few conversions are not 100% efficient then it will just consume energy.(the only external energy source is fuel ) i am not an expert but this is just like a "Joke" (my personal view).
  20. Anyway this is the problem i suspect.. http://www.justanswer.com/gm/2yhcf-know-a-c-clutch-bearing-bad-compressor.html

there might be several root causes. you are the one who can identify the way (exact steps) to recreate the problem. for ex: in ur above post u have said that "then it starts to work again once u accelerate and go a bit fast why is that". then try to identify the pattern. to start to work again if it is just enough to rev up the rpm without moving the car or do u really need to move the vehicle fast to start to work it again. in second case , that might be problem related to condenser or condenser cooling system (fan). when we travel faster counter moments of wind help to remove the heat from condenser. in first case , there might be problem in compressor or related part. if just open the shutters enough to work it again then it might be a problem in temperature control unit. there might be several others....................... in here i am not trying to draw the conclusion , just brought up some examples.
  22. No machan, it has no connection with condenser. it is a small bearing. you said that compressor make a noise when AC is switched off. it is the exact symptom of bad "bearing". some people say it as "AC Bearing".
  23. weight reduction to improve 0-60 timing
  24. i came across this kind of problem. problem was "bad Bearing".(belt coupled to the pully , since pully rotates the bearing works even when the ac is switched off). . once it has been replaced problem solved.
  25. How much would it be cost to be done it by agent (S***k)?
