Dear Mr P, There is no doubt new vehicles will keep coming and we need new vehicles in the country, what do you suggest increase the duty again so number of vehicle imports will reduce, think broader Mr P ,stopping new imports is not a solution, if possible should reduce the duty further down so newer vehicles can come in, we need to have mechanism to remove old vehicles from our roads. -

I agree with you some of the old cars are well maintained than some newer vehicles. and also some of the newer vehicles from china and india are not having many safety features which many old european brands have, but vehicles are not meant forever, older it gets costlier it gets for repairs and quality will be deteriorating. your point is 65- BMW even after deteriorating is still better than a new Maruti 800, maybe but it depends on the maintenance, therefore some 65- BMWs are very good some may not be, This is the reason most of the countries they allow owners who still prefer to hold their old vehicle, can do that by paying a additional fee ( annually) fee will be increasing with the age of the vehicle. There are many benefits for introducing a expiry date for vehicles, 1. Newer vehicles with better fuel efficiency will enter the market saving on forex to the country and less pollution 2. Prices of second hand cars will come down as, closer the expiry date for vehicle less demand it will have. vehicles will be properly depreciated. and more people can afford vehicles. 3. Create a balance in the vehicle population ( currently only accident condemned vehicles are remove from the roads) 4. When the local prices are low even used cars can be exported to countries without limits on age (africa) My feeling is introducing a expiry for vehicles is a MUST for Sri Lanka. -
Glad u got you car , be careful when you send the vehicle for service at uni*** motors , if possible stay during the process they will spoil the car otherwise. their free (labor only) services are not worthy at all

What is the recommended engine oil for Hybrids , Toyota Lanka is using 10-30 mineral and claiming it is the recommened oil, Ara*bi*n motors is using Mobil synthetic and claiming it is the recommended and use of mineral oils on hybrids will reduce the performance. Is toyota recommending mineral because they are not importing the correct synthetics oil? or is Arab**n motors recommending synthetic oil because they are getting a better margin? Does anybody know the correct recommended engine oil for hybrids?

English Numbers were issued since 2000 Aug , which is over 11 years ago. since most of the imports are used (5-3 years) non english number plated vehicles are average over 15 years old. government will be bringing in new laws to remove these old vehicles from our roads, even in india only 15 years from manufactured year is allowed for use. Most of the pre english numbered vehicles are not much used ,and these need to be banned from entering the highways. -

i have seen permit cars (with Red no plates) widely used for Taxis/radio cabs , i don't think even the cops have taken any notice of these, renting and using as taxis is prohibited for the permit vehicles.

WAIT , WAIT , WAIT, how old are you? still waiting for the bride, are you waiting till others test for you? no wonder you are stuck to 17 "tested" "used" For a frog in the well like you "hybrids" must be new, try reading there is a thing called "www.google.com" ask your pre-tested partner how to use, please use , hybrids are well tested and proved. and Toyota is changing to 100% hybrids only by 2020 as per their website. good luck with your 17

What Is The Best Choise?? Crown Hybrid Or Prado Trj150??
Prius replied to hashans7's topic in General Automotive
TRJ 150 is so much better than the Crown Hybrid, especially in Sri Lankan conditions , Prado has the real Sri Lankan flavor blended in the design , crown more for Europeans -

Future Proof "Toyota's VP of powertrain development Masatami Takimoto has said that by 2020 hybrids would become the company's standard drivetrain, and that hybrids would account for "100 percent" of the automaker's new cars." Actually Primera TP12 is a worst car i ever had,i bought for the looks , really a waste of money , One example for expensive is CV boot is Rs 7000+ and Shocks 50K, air flow sensor 23k , Speed Sensor 24K, Gaskets Kit 28K , Within 3 Year for repairs i spent over 300K ( all spares bought from the agent and repaired at their workshop) If buying a around 2 M i think Honda Civic or Toyota better choice
