Hi Mr.Cat The Bug was available until the mid 80's. So the more recent models are still quite common on the roads. But pre 1970 models are very rare to find. This is why I jumped at this model when I saw it. The small signal lights had to be fitted in order for the car to be street legal. Even the interior is in awsome condition. I am the third owner. Cheers

The Z cars have always been a firm favourite of mine. But I must admit the first generation 300ZX was dissapointing. Had no looks and no real performance to write home about. The second gen 300ZX was awsome with a brilliant chassis. Though more of the touring sports than a pure sports. They have gone back to the roots with the 350Z. Well done to Nissan! Where the hec is Toyota ??!!

1956 model. With the latest addition it is 12 kids in the family. Thank god I don't have to pay school fees!!

Got hold of this 1956 Beetle a few weeks ago. In original condition. Need to change the rims though, back to original ones and get some white wall tyres. Got the original SW radio working. Also managed to get the ondicator "flags" working

Very reliable motor as long as you look after it.

Well...all I can say is that cars are becoming like supermarket shelf items. They don't make cars like they used to any more. by the way...ISUZU is part owned by GM and is the largest Diesel Engine manufacturer in the world.

Hey everyone Anybody here bought a rebadged vehicle? If so why did you stray from buying the original? I ask this because, rebadging has always beaten the hell out of me. We have a lot of this happening with various manufacturers and I fail to understand why at times the rebadged product outsells the original. Here in our SA market, identical p/up trucks are marketed under Ford and Mazda guise. Infact it is a Mazda in original state. The thing different about the two (apart from cosmetics) is the warranties offered (this too I can't figure). Infact in certain cases prices of parts seems to differ. Though it's the identical thing. I do understand the reasons behind the thinking of the manufacturers. Cost savings being the primary reason. But what is the thinking behind the customer? People shunned Daewoos, but the same people are lining up to buy the same product which now is coming out as a GM brand! I have seen some of these cars and there isn't much (in terms of mechanical improvements) GM has done. Wanna buy a rebadged TATA in Nissan guise ? Cheers

Yeah lovely cars. Though being a Toyota fan, I always found Nissan to make better sports cars than Toyota. I found the 180 to be a tad under powered. Quick take offs were a bit difficult and the mid range power was not that impressive for what it was meant to be. On the other hand the 240 was much better and delivered the goods. I also found (in both models) the stock suspension giving way to unpleasant body roll when making tight cornering.

The Nissan you mention was built and marketted here in SA as a Nissan Sentra. It did come in Turbo as well. So I assume there might have been a Turbo out of Japan as well.

I agree. We do a lot of off-road racing here in SA and all the "special class" vehicles look like boats. It's a shape that is most suited for the type of racing we do. People can say anything they want, but I think the results achieved speaks the greatest. Judging by the pictures, I was quite impressed with Osanda's vehicle. Cheers

Even if the car is not very old in terms of milage or even time, it is always a good idea to service the cooling system on a regular basis. Especially if the car spends most of its time in thick traffic. Don't just clean the radiator, try to get the entire cooling system cleaned. Cheers

Another option would be to use a "radiator flush" to clean your system. This you can do ti your self. Why do you want to clean the radiator? Are you having cooling problems?

Hey everyone This post is in no way meant to offent Mazda fans, nor is it the intention to start a brand bashing session. Though I have only briefly owned Mazda models over the years, I have a certain amount of respect and fancy towards the company that brought us the likes of RX-7, and the Miata (MX5). Not to mention what they did in the development of the Wankel engine. However, world over (sadly) Mazda has not enjoyed the brand image they deserve. They are somewhat like Audi 10 years ago. The most underrated European brand, has in the recent past managed to bring out some exciting and innovative products (coupled with extensive marketting work on brand imaging) managed to put themselves where they truly belong (well there is a bit more work to be done I feel). Mazda has brought out some really cool looking products recently, but will the Zoom Zoom image do the trick and put then where they belong? What do you guys think? Cheers

Hi there The problem as you describe it, could be due to several reasons. The one way of identifying the exact cause is through a process of elimination. The milage of the vehicle would have been helpful. But never the less, have the following checked out before you attempt any major repairs. (1) Have the fuel pressure checked. It could be that when the pump is warmed up it's efficiency decreases due various wear and tear conditions. (2) Have the fuel filters and air filter checked. A blocked filter can also hinder the required fuel pressure and air pressure needed for the efficient running of the engine. (3) Have the ignition system checked. As simple as it may sound, worn/damaged plug leads or HT cables can also creat similar problems. (4) Have the engine compression tested. If the compression is being lost through worn or broken rings, at temperature when the chamber has expanded power is lost due to loss in compression. (5) Is you engine consuming engine oil? This could also create the problem you mention. Try the above and keep us posted. Hope this is helpful. Cheers
