  1. The way the Indian economy is going, anything is possible. A recent statistic shows that each year close to 40,000 new multi millionairs (in US$ terms) are made in that country. Second to China. Given the current growth trends India and China are expected to give the western economies a run for their money in the not too distant future.
  2. Any chance of getting the DVD?

    Ford Capri's

I am not much of a Ford fan. In fact IMO they are a waste of time (no offence to Ford fans). This includes the after sales service they provide world over. However, I have to admit that the Mustang (my personal favorite) and the Capri that came out in the mid 60's to the 70's were wonderful cars. Icons todate. The 6cylinder Capri was a gem, but if you can get your hands on a V8, you would think you'd died and gone to heaven Cheers Duncan TeamAutolanka
  4. I got the feeling this season is going to be what we spectators have been waiting for. But with the reduced costs in F1 for the 2007 season, we should see a lot more privateer teams getting back into F1. Like in the good ole days of F1. Less of the corporate crap and more of real racing.
  5. Hi there Like some have said there could be several reasons. Most of the time the noise comes from the type of tread your tyre has. When you mention that the wheels are out of the wheel base, are they all in equal propotion or not. This could also be a factor. Wrongly cambered or toed wheels could also create a some noise. My advice would be to have the vehicle checked by a reputed tyre shop. Hope this helps. Cheers Duncan TeamAutolanka
  6. The H3 is going to be built in South Africa and some friends of mine has seen them being tested in and around the cities. Like the H2, I am sure it will be just another SUV. Not really a 4x4.
  7. Sadly thats the problem with our country and ppl. No one wants local produce. Not even give it a chance. And we keep wondering how countries like Japan, China, India and SA has got to where they are today.
  8. Hey cool looking truck!! Since you live in the US check out "toyota territory off-roaders association" web. http://www.tacomaterritory.com/ Keep us posted on other developments. Cheers Duncan TeamAutolanka
  9. Its not just SL, I have seen this sort of thing even in busy air ports in developed countries.
  10. Hi there I am not sure as to how the law is in SL (as I don't live there). However, in many countries after a certain time in the evening (low traffic levels) the lights are more of a precautionary warning than an obligatory stop. I have also noticed in some cities, when it is no longer a must to stop, the lights keep flashing. Indicating that the drivers can drive through cautiously. I think a telephone call the a local traffic police in SL should help you with your question. Cheers Duncan TeamAutolanka
  11. ...........on a sunday??!! There had been some serious rain fall last week, so my friends & I just had to go out and play. Cheers Duncan TeamAutolanka
  12. Thanks for that Pila. A lot of work goes into giving our members all that we provide and as far as MADZ and I are concerned.....we do it purely out of love Cheers Duncan TeamAutolanka
  13. ???? did I miss something here?
  14. I like some of these retro models that are coming out. But it also makes me wonder if these manufacturers are running out of design creativity. The Germans and the Japs don't seem to have this problem though. Some of the production ready concepts that have been displayed at verious auto shows indicates some stunning new shapes to come. Cheers Duncan TeamAutolanka
  15. I am a big Toyota and Lexus fan, but the second and third generation LS has been a dissapointment in the looks department for me. The first LS had its own identity, the second one had the rear end of a (then) Merc E class and now they seem to have copied the rear end of the BMW 7 series. I am sure this LS will also be a huge success, especially in the US market. But to me, as much as I love these cars, Lexus has a long way to go, before they better the Germans. Cheers Duncan TeamAutolanka
  16. I have to share this with you guys All weekend here its been threatening to rain bucket loads and today towards late afternoon it started raining cats and dogs. So driving home on the highway, I kept to a low speed, just like most of the other people on the road. We must have been doing a steady 60km/h when a guy in b/new Range Rover Sport flies past the rest of us on the second lane. He went so fast, made the rest of us look like we were standing still. After a while we came across a traffic build up bringing us to almost stand still. As we slowly made our way, I could see the same Range Rover that flew past us, parked in a very precarious way on the cantre island. Getting closer, I noticed that the Range was actually on its side. I am not actually sure as to what happened, but one thing for sure, the driver lost control over the vehicle, it aquaplained, hit the centre island and then tipped over. I could also see that that section of the road had more water collected than anywhere else. Some fellow motorists had stopped and helped the driver out of the stricken vehicle. No injuries it appeared. Except a damaged ego I suppose. Now here is the best part.....he was on his cell phone explaining to someone on the other end what happened. Part of his conversation went like this....."it wasn't event fast, I was sticking to 140 when I lost it. I thought the traction control on these things were state of the art". On hearing this I really wanted to get out and beat the crap out of him. But then again I decided not to. As I drove away I could not help but wonder how stupid people are becoming with all the electronic gizmos in todays vehicles. These idiots must think that all the gadgetry is making modern vehicles invincible! This idiot is lucky that nothing happend to him or anybody else. But it could have been worse. 17. Hello Ushantha I think this lifestyle needs a lot of promoting in Sri-Lanka. Once people realise that 4x4ing opens a whole new window of adventure and opportunities it will no doubt take off. Looking forward to some cool pics from your trip. Cheers Duncan TeamAutolanka
  18. Yeah I agree. The US manufacturers will become like the British makes in time to come......non existant (unless they take drastic actions). I also wouldn't discount the Koreans. Cheers Duncan TeamAutolanka
  19. Despite their strong racing history and successes, Toyota has never really brought out an ultimate flag ship perfomer. Infact their performers in the various classes has been half harted than anything else. IMO the only true performer Toyota ever produced was the Celica GTS of the 70's. Even the more recent Supra of the 90's was a rushed effort to keep up with the likes of the 300ZX and the GTO. Quite dissapointing for Toyota fan like me. On the other hand, Toyota's conservative approach has made them what they are today and if things continue, predictions are that Toyota will be the largest auto maker in the world by 2010. It is already the most profitable and cash rich automaker in the world. Cheers Duncan TeamAutolanka
  20. Hey everyone I just returned from a bush trip to a local game reserve in Botswana (Southern Africa). It was quite a trip with some cool river crossings and also crossing of some flooded pans. It is the Zebra migration time when herds migrate to this area to feed on rich new grass and also have their young. We must have seen over 5,000 Zebras scattered all over the place. The presence of large herds brings predators to the area. Though we heard Lions growling throught out the night near our camp, we were not fortunate enough to see them. Hope you enjoy the few pics I have posted here. Cheers Duncan TeamAutolanka
  21. Hi GihanFX Got any pics to share with us? Would be nice to see the drags up n about again Cheers Duncan TeamAutolanka
  22. Least-safe cars??? where did u get that info from?? I am very surprised to see the Corolla and Mazda6 in there. Cheers
  23. Interesting race this year. Still a long way to go, but I have a feeling that the Pajeros will have a fight on their hands this year. the VW's are very strong and they are determined to win. The South African boys are doing quite well. Especially in the privateer entries. Cheers
  24. Well it is not just Sri-Lanka. IMO, a lot of politics and the influences of the oil giants also comes into play here. Imagine how catestrophic it would be for them if there was an abundance of alternative fuels at a fraction of the cost? But my point is, we as individuals can start trying out ethanol as small collective groups (not sure though how available it is in SL). But it is worth looking into. Assuming that you get into a group of a few friends and find a source/supplier for ethanol. Then use it for at least 30% of your vehicle's consumption. The savings you would make could be substantial. Especially in a country like SL, where you don't really travel long distances this I feel is quite practical.
  25. Hi there I don't live in SL. I live in South Africa (Botswana to be exact). So unfortunately the Mustang will not bee seen on SL roads. Unless of course I decide to move back and bring all my children with me Cheers Duncan TeamAutolanka
