As somebody else said,you can go for Mazda Familia BJ Series.Fuel efficiency -excellent.Spare parts easy to find and cheaper than Toyota or Honda.You have to use it to know it.Just speak to a friend who is using this model and get it verfied. Anyway,Decision is yours!! Cheers

Today is supposed to be the cycle parade day.10/15 years ago when I was schooling this used to be the most fun day(even more than the big match itself).I remember guys dressed up in all sorts of costumes lined up all the way from Reid Avenue up to Thurstan road with their decorated trucks.Those were the days.Not to forget those classic busses,lorrys,jeeps and cars which added extra colour to the entire thing.in early 90's there were minimum 25 trucks in the parade. Guys My Car is Mazda BJ5P and according to the service manual,it recommends an inspection of the timing belt at 96,000km and replacement only at 168,000km. Come on,where do I praise the present government? COL was lowest in 1948,and it is called inflation. If you want to praise your RW say that inflation rate was lower in RW's time than under this regime.People in this forum are more educated and they understand the difference between inflation rate and the COL. Price may sound high for you and me,but think about it, You pay the same amount for a camri, Hyundai, Kia or a Ssang Yyong jeep.(though they are jeeps I am sure no match for Jag) Performance,can compete with any Car in the market,even with BMW,Benz or Lexus Comfort, superb Prestige,no need to explain so why would you pay 4-5 mil for a recon Allion or a Civic when you can go for a Jag. Only drawback should be high maintainance cost,thenagain considering these are brand new we can assume safe driving for a considerable period. I heared that IWS Holdings is going to set up a Jaguar assembly plant in Hambanthota.I know this is true b'cos I saw their job ads on S Observer for technical staff for the same factory. Also a coleague of mine has got some cool pricing for the latest Jag from them for the cars assembled here.(I don't know whether they already assemble them here though) Guess what,for the s type he was asked between 5 to 6 mil based on the features.

I am pretty ignorant when it comes to motor mecahnics,So please explain this to me? What do you mean by an Egine tune up for an EFI engine? My understanding is that all you can do is replacing spark plugs. I know that you can run the engine diagnostics tools and setup the engine for default levels.However this is not what we refer to as the engine tuneup in day today life.

Don I am glad you came up with Mazda.I see lot of Sri Lankans are so conservative and make decisions based on what other person has done. If you really go through some foreign automobile magazine you will see that most japanese cars are more or less equallly priced.For example Toyota Yaris is considered a low priced car comparatively. Only because of the Absurd taxes and misguided attitudes we see people going for junk Toyotas spending millions more.Car sales people take maximum advantage from that and artficially hike their prices. I also baught my first Car 2 years back(Before that I was using company cars) and it is a Mazda BJ5P 2002 model. I recommend that car to any body.It is doing 12 km/l and I know for sure that is more than what Suzuki Swift does which has a 1300CC engine.Whatever said and done you cannot expect more fuel efficiency from a 1500cc car. Comfort and looks also I am satisfied with but are highly subjective. But I don't want you to go and buy a Mazda car.It was good for me 2 years back and today If I was buying I would have gone for some thing else. So,Don't go for what other people say.Buy what you are happy with. After all it is like getting maried to a girl.People might bring you proposals.But you only have to live with her
